Bows are fine to good against ALMOST every boss. They're not much different from magic except a little harder to optimize and a little weaker fully optimized. BUT it's torture against the input reading bosses and NPCs if you don't just OHKO them before they can do anything. Both magic classes have spells that can get through roll spam (like the dragon breath spells) or don't trigger it at all (like Night Comet). Bows have zip.

I used an uchi against the golem just to save some time farming. You can find a base bow and safely take out the golem, would just take longer and i didn't wanna bother.
