    As an ancient history buff I enjoyed them both very much. It's a tough choice, I'd probably pick Origins just because I prefer ancient Egypt. What a pity Valhalla imho didn't live up to its predecessors though.

      I had the most fun playing origins, with Valhalla next and Odyssey last. Odyssey felt so soulless as an open world and i hate the mythology addition. The mythology in origins was tolerable and im a sucker for anything viking which is why im a little more leniant with valhalla.

    I'll put it this way, I liked Origins because Ubisoft did the best they can do with a smaller version of Egypt, but I LOVED Odyssey because Ubisoft basically gave gamers a whole history lesson in the form of a video game, I literally love just how accurate Odyssey is with nearly every Ancient Greek island on the map plus the Mythical worlds were S tier DLCs, even though it didn't feel like Assassin's Creed, it was a fun, free for all Assassin's Creed, and I loved every second of it (have over 400 hours of play time btw)

    I played AC Odyssey first and loved it. I was never an Assassins' Creed fan, so i treated it as an open world rpg.
    I then went back and played Origins. Despite Odyssey having improvements in the rpg mechanics, i liked Origins better. The focus on one protagonist, Bayek, made him more compelling than Kassandra/Alexis (or whatever the male version name was).
    Ancient Egypt was also a more interesting setting to me, though i liked Ancient Greece too. I like both games but Origins is the one i'd replay again. Both are better than Valhalla though, which bored me and i never finished.

    • @horantelgar8730
      @horantelgar8730 Год назад

      @@MillerTheOriginal Yes, Valhalla is - in my opinion - the better game.
      I admit that Valhalla is very repetitive and the quests are repeated several times.
      But Valhalla doesn't suffer from the insane logic holes and the side quests that can only be called stupid as hell, which completely spoil an Odyssey.
      Just the beginning of Odyssey:
      Kassandra/Alexios are mercenaries who have been living on a rather small island for years.
      And yet they don't have any useful equipment, don't know their way around their homeland and don't even know where the house of their mentor, who took them in as a child, is located.
      Plus the daily randomly generated quests from a bulletin board like in an MMO. What shoud that?
      Odyssey has a grandiose landscape with superbly designed buildings. But these landscapes are meaningless. There is nothing interesting there. Miles of boredom yawning. Only interrupted by small empty spaces, on which the next visit is guaranteed to be a randomly generated camp with 3 soldiers, where the next randomly generated stupid side quest will be forced upon the player.
      A word about the so-called humor in the game. How old can you be to still be able to laugh at the listed embarrassments? Ten? Twelve? Certainly nothing more.

    Odyssey made me feel empty and unaccomplished after 200 hours. I wanted to love it but it just felt boring and every enemy was a bullet sponge. The stealth wasn’t worth it and not having the hidden blade basically made this a weaker Witcher game. Also the whole making the Isu a big deal was awful. I personally preferred Odyssey more. I had a great deal of wandering around the map, doing side quests, improving my ranking, and killed a lot of of the cult before going back into the main quest and discovering we hadn't actually even been officially told about the cult yet😂. So before that wanted to understand if one were looking for good parkour, an open world, solid gameplay good assassins style gaming and an open world which is worth exploring like closest to an RDR2 open world as in polish and variety of things to do, which one would you'll recommend. If you want The things you mention aren't as present in the new games, so I would recommend you to try out one of the earlier ones as well, especially since they are pretty cheap now (my personal choice would be to start with ac 2).
      Now, onto your question. Odyssey is probably the better open world out of the two, with a gameplay a bit more polished and more side activities. However, considering your criteria, I would rather recommend origins. It feels closer to a true assassin experience since you don't have supernatural powers (in odyssey you can acquire a skill that allows you to never die from fall damage, so the intensity in parkour is gone). The stealth system, while not as pushed as in the earlier games is still pretty satisfying (if you invest in stealth and bow skills as it will allow you to obtain tools and transform your bows into silent one shotters). While the parkour isn't great in either of them, and definitely not close to the earlier ones, I would say it is more satisfying in origins since you have more incentives to use it, and the city design is a bit more parkour friendly compared to odyssey

As a fan of the Old ac games, origins just felt more like a Assassins creed game than Odyssey did, plus loved Bayek as a character and Egypt was a great setting and had fun exploring each part of the map. Odyssey just felt lifeless at points, although Greece was stunning it just felt soulless and boring after a while, plus felt the RPG and choices could of been better and it focused to much on mythology rather than main real life story, plus hated the level scaling in the game, it just felt levelling up was pointless when every one around you will also level up with you. I did like Odyssey but it just didn't feel like an AC game, just Ubisoft attempt at an RPG game but with AC in the title.

      Ubisoft really piggy backed on the success of their franchise for those. Obviously they did it to get the biggest return on their investment but it's a bit of shame because as good as Odyssey is, it would be even better if it dropped all the pretense and focused on a new unique story.

    It's a subjective opinion. If someone likes Origins more, thats 100% valid and correct for them. If someone likes Odyssey more, thats 100% valid and correct for them. If someone likes Valhalla more, same as the others.
    It's deeply weird how gamers have an obsession with ranking games as if it was objective fact and not just personal preference. Then they get toxic and hostile to anyone that disagrees with their opinion.
    It's the single worst aspect of the gaming community. It does nothing but breed toxicity and hostile behavior.

    • @VegtamTheWonderer
      @VegtamTheWonderer Год назад +1

      Enjoying art is subjective, but there is a level of objectivity analysis that can be applied to any art. Techniques and execution can be superior in one game over another. Obviously, a game being technically superior doesn't mean somebody will enjoy it more, but it does make it more likely. The issue with video games is that people don't understand that liking something more doesn't mean it's better. That's why people get so absurdly toxic about video game analysis and comparison. Most people don't know what conversation is even about and lack the insight, understanding, and education/expertise to be able to meaningfully evaluate a video game in a technical sense. For example, I love Fallout 76. It is my most played game at 900+ hours. But it is objectively a bad game. If somebody said it was the best Fallout game, I would laugh in their face.

    • @MrClonedzero
      @MrClonedzero Год назад

      @@VegtamTheWonderer The issue is most people tend to think their opinion is objective fact.
      And if someone said FO76 was the best fallout, that is, in fact, valid, despite your claims otherwise. I dont agree, but it's valid.
      You, yourself, are making the same mistake i was talking about. Because there are technical aspects you could compare between games, but if thats all you're comparing, you're basically ignoring massive parts of a game.
      If you only judge games by objective technical metrics, then in your attempts to be objective and impartial, you are infact doing the opposite since you're disqualifying aspects of games that might put one above another for alot of people.
      Going back to your FO76 example. I played alot of that too, I actually think its pretty good. The lore and world building is, in my opinion , some of the best in the entire series. I'm just not a fan of the grindy "looter shooter" endgame lol. I'd seriously rate it above New Vegas for example cus i think that one is terribly written with bad gameplay. But thats going against common internet opinion.

      I honestly never understood people who just try to change your mind. Everyone has a preference, and no one has the right to change that.

The simple addition of fun combat abilities and reintroduction of stealth builds in Odyssey instantly made me involved enough in the game to meet the level curve, and it retained the glorious sun-soaked world design that made Origins stand out and is the real artistic achievement of the neo-Creeds.

    • @shibernyan2009
      @shibernyan2009 7 месяцев назад

      @@DarkoRavens So is Valhalla, only Valhalla is worse and just not fun. Because in terms of combat (including melee, ranged and stealth), skill tree/abilities (including balancing), weapon/armor variety, main quest, environment and overall tone Odyssey is far more superior.
      Valhalla's combat feels clunky and after the first 20 hours or so you're so overpowered that you can literally stand still, just let enemies hit you endlessly and you just stay alive, because you literally heal faster than you can lose health to those enemy attacks. Not to mention that the abilities are so dull and borderline useless that you rarely use them (I often even forgot they existed). And don't even get me started on that sad excuse for naval combat....if you could call it that.
      Weapon variety is so scarce that you can barely call it an RPG. I have 100 hours in Valhalla and like 6 weapons, of which only one is clearly my most powerful so that's the one I used throughout 80% of the game, maybe 3 chest armor pieces (excluding all the Ezio etc. outfits that I got for free from the start of the game) and so forth. And to get more stuff you basically have to repeat the same 'shoot arrow through a window to open a locked door, for which you had to spend sometimes over 5 minutes looking for the right angle from where to shoot from'. That gets real old real fast, not to mention that the reward was rarely worth it...if ever.
      The main story was quite interesting, I especially liked the family/friends to enemies dynamic with Sigurd. But the story pacing is literally the worst I've ever seen in a videogame. Basically the main quest involves a bunch of mandatory side quests that are interesting the first 2-3 times....and then you realize that almost every single one of them is going to be an almost literal copy-paste of those first few. And it just keeps going. Every so now and then you get a pretty cool cutscene that actually progresses the story. But then it's just another 20 hours of pain. I can get repetitive side-quests....but if that's your main quest? Big bruh moment.
      Odyssey has a bunch of different cities, islands etc. Almost each one looks at least somewhat different, some even looked very unique. Certain areas are absolutely gorgeous. The Atlantis DLC also provided 3 new maps, each very different. Granted I didn't even bother with Valhalla's DLCs, but the dream worlds paled in comparison. But even just the main map in Valhalla is so monotonous. All of Norway looks basically the same, all of Vinland looked the same and almost all of England also looked the same (of which most that didn't look exactly the same just looked like tiny Norways).
      And at least Odyssey had some variety in overall tone, it had a nice mix of funny/lighthearted and dark/sad moments Odyssey does that better than really any AC game imo, most are limited to that edge lord, dark, serious, stoic tone. Amongst the games I've played Black Flag and Origins are the only other ones that seem to understand how to keep things a bit more interesting with tonal changes.
      So yeah, Valhalla felt like a chore to play. In many ways it's an above average game, and in other ways it's just so bad. I guess that makes it a mediocre game. Odyssey also has its faults but is a phenomenal game thanks to how fun it is. I nearly 100 percented that game twice and loved every second of it. Meanwhile I can count the minutes I've actually enjoyed of Valhalla (some of which were thanks to those few in-game store purchases I made because I was desperate for good weapons and armor). The only reason I kept playing was because I plan on finishing all the AC games, I'm doing a marathon. So I just kept forcing myself. And I really tried to spice things up by properly trying a bit of everything, including the side quests/points of interests and such....but that just made it more painful. Though to be fair I do like the mini-games, as in Oorlog etc. But #&%* that stone stacking one!

    Origins is the best middle-of-the-ground with light RPG and still have a linear story which AC should be. Assassin's Creed to me will always be a linear story since in its world we are reliving the memory of an ancestor and it just breaks immersion with the dialogue system. Hahaha. You're 'greatest' open-world game is not even among the Top 50 best-selling games lol. Even Valhalla generated more revenue than that garbage. Even the worst-selling CoD game has sold more than AC: Odyssey lmao. You're 'favourite' game is a failure and a disaster that alienated millions of AC fans

    That's a tough one. Origins was the end of traditional A.C. games. Odyssey was longer, more targets and jump of the highest peak and take no damage. Odyssey was also funnier. Odyssey was better but not by much.

    I played origins when it came out and loved it. Recently, early 2023, I found a copy for cheap and decided to replay it and it's related DLC. I was so enthralled with it. I loved the world and the story. Bayek really appealed to me and the tomb exploration was just amazing. The combat I thoroughly enjoyed as well. I was hesitant about playing Odyssey. The combat looked too much like Syndicate which was a big turn off for me. however, In october my partner and I went on a trip to Greece. I loved the trip so much I decided to buy Odyssey and give it a try. I like finding places in games and comparing them to their real life counterpart. Honestly, i felt a lot of it was pretty accurate but when it came to the story and gameplay.... eh i was not impressed. It wasn't until near the end of the main story, cult story, and Atlantis story of the base game that I really began to connect with Alexios. Mostly because he had become a character that I had molded. It made the ending all the more bittersweet. So while i still think Origins is a better AC game (i also like linear stories. I like to see what a creator intended with a story) I do see why people like Odyssey so much. I'll be starting Valhalla soon. i've heard that it's long and boring but man Ubisoft has come a long way in terms of graphics and gameplay. It looks amazing.

    I find Origina way better. Moreover in my opinion Odyssey sucks. Letting a player change character's role and influence the story breaks the canon. This option just doesn't match AC franchise.

    Odyssey and Black Flag are the only two I liked enough to play to the end, and Odyssey I even played all the DLC and afaik completed every last thing to do in it. I tried to play Origin, and I made it as far as meeting Cleopatra, but that is about where I stopped and no idea how far that is in it. I played as Kassandra ofc, and I recruited all of my family (including the adopted ones) to crew my ship (except my husband who was murdered, and obviously my newborn who I sent into hiding with their grandfather).

    I replayed all the ac titles but honestly I don't think I'll be replaying odyssey any time soon. Good story but didn't feel right. Plus Cassandra doesn't run, she jogs lol
