    When was this? "Toby" Halicki jumped a Cadillac Eldorado over an aerobatic plane in "The Junkman" [1982]...

      He also had an unscripted wreck in the original [1974] "Gone in 60 Seconds" {he wrote, produced, directed, starred in and did almost all of his own stunt driving in both}: One of the other cars in a scene where Halicki was apparently supposed to take a freeway off-ramp at high speed apparently missed his mark, and Halicki made contact wit the car, lost control, ran up the ramp {probably a little faster than intended, and wiped out a [real] light stanchion. The crew ran to the scene and, according to his widow, the first thing he said when he regained consciousness was "Did we get coverage?"
      He wound up production on "Gone" with permanent back problems after the final stunt - ruclips.net/video/9hP5QB642fw/видео.html - [which, if you watch the slow-motion view on that clip and then the normal-speed view immediately after it, he apparently did TWICE.}
      I wondered how "Eleanor" kept running. after what they put that Mustang through - i recently read an article that said they stripped all the body panels off and built a complete tube rollcage under them.
      {Granted, this has no connection to airplane stunts, but ...}
