Absolutely a gold medal from me for this video I bought recently same car with same issue and I was so worried and you really helped me thanks a lot for your help 🎉🎉🎉😊
Great to hear! Glad it helped thanks for such amazing comment it means alot 😁
Did mine a year ago and its started leaking again. Ive bought a genuine OEM seal and a aluminium rocker cover this time so fingers crossed.
@@blingking501 that should do the trick ally and plastic are just a stupid idea dunno why they make them like that
Thanks for uploading this mate , you have saved me a lot of money by being able to do it myself 👍
Hi thanks so much for watching I realy appreciate it.im glad it help you to do it yourself 👍👍
Thanks for the video, just replaced my gasket following this. The hardest part was disconnecting the wiring loom you said was easy lol.
Hi Steven so glad the video helped you. The wiring loom was easy on mine but delicate as the connectors can break 😬 thanks for Watching if you haven't please like and Subcribe as I'm trying to reach 1k and everyone helps 👍👍👍
this as given me the confidence to do this job , you wouldnt believe what vauxhal have just quoted to do it , thanks for upload
Thanks for Watching I'm glad it has help you and saved you lots of money let me no how you get on 😁
Legend mate I gotta do my rocker gasket and thermostat on my insignia got a mate to help me but looks simple enough 🤞😂
Go for it! You will be OK let me no how u get on 👍👍👍
Hi mate ,thanks for video, done my rocker and coil pack today which couldn't of done without your video.
I lost the breather clip from the hose you took off at back of engine,
Do you have any idea what there called?looking for hours now on Internet to buy a replacement😂
Thanks once again
Glad it helped thanks for the kind words it means alot, that's annoying I don't think you can buy that clip separately unfortunately but if you type in zafira, astra or ventra 1.8 crankcase breather hose u will find them they are about 20 second hand or double new hope that helps 👍
@@flippingcarsrepairs big help once again, thank you very much
Your welcome
I have an astra 13plate and were you pointed to the engine oil i have the same plus tsmoke coming through on the left hand side of the oil filter will this help if i change the gasket. Thanks 👍🏽
Hi thanks for Watching yes tgat certainly will as the oil end up on the hot engine and then starts to smoke,. Let me no how you get on 👍
@@flippingcarsrepairs if you can i uploaded a quick video of the issue to my shorts if you can give a quick view then message me back . Do you have a garage ? If so isit local west mids or london ?
@@sabrinaiqbal9783 sorry I'm right down south no we're near, it looks like it's the oil cap as its very high up then gone down the whole engine, your best bet is get some engine cleaner and get all the oil of and then see we're it appears after hope that helps
Did you use a torque wrench to tighten it up?
Yes its not very tight you need a small torque wrench to tighten it up
Any idea why it would still leak after been replaced, I replaced mine and put on new sealer
You may need a new rocker cover. As they are plastic they can get brittle one little piece that doesn't seal will leak due to the pressure. 👍
if that doesn't work you may have a uneven cylinder head best thing to do is by instant gasket as well as the rubber seal and use both. Hope that helps please Subcribe if you haven't
Cheap Plastic its like a piece of licorice compared to a metal one, easily distorted, yes as Flipping recommended, use both new gasket and Silicon Rubber Sealant if a new gasket alone fails to seal. Silicon Sealant requires very clean surfaces, totally oil free. I use toilet paper and acrylic thinners, clean as a whistle.
Thank you this is what I was looking for
Thanks for Watching glad it helps you please let me no how you got on if you haven't please subscribe 😁
Would this fix engine warning light plus service esp done new gasket same as you waiting for new coil pack tomorrow, new spark plugs also ? 😅 £155 later frigging Vauxhalls
Definitely needed doing anyway gasket was so britle was like plastic
@@adamtyrrell2404 unfortunately it wont turn the engine management light of as its only a gasket it just seels the oil in. Sound like you got it done in time 👍👍👍
Omg life saver. Vauxhall were quoting 900+ for this.
Wow no way glad it helped you 👍
Just had the rocker cover gasket replaced during the MOT, and now leaks from the front right hand corner by the bracket. Would that be incorrect installation? Before I go nuts at the garage.
Also do they normally seem and smell quite hot, not had a vauxhall or eco tek engine before so just curious.
Hi thanks for Watching it should be leaking anywere so maybe they have not sealed it well by tightening it more in that area. Personally I would go there and tell them about it. No not realy but if it smells hot that could be from that leak and the oil seaping out on to the hot engine hope that helps 😁👍
Did you use a torque wrench to tighten it up? If so what pressure/Nm did you set it too?
I did of camera but I can't remember what it was sorry I no it was quite low as the Cover is plastic
I'm pretty sure it 8nm
10Nm
I got some problem but my engine shaking as well what could be geezer ill appreciate it if you know whats wrong please
Does the car run what do you mean by shaking when idling like miss firing
Probably engine mount if the engine is shaking
I must do mine.Trouble is why do vauxhall use a plastic cam cover? Metal against plastic with the hot oil it eventually warps, then it's time to buy a new cam cover which from vauxhall is over £200,still least it comes with a new gasket hehe
Thanks for Watching I totaly agree stupid idea guess it's down to money as it cheaper to make, they should have kept them metal like old vauxhalls 👍
@@flippingcarsrepairs Yup very true I remember doing a gasket for my dads Vauxhall Carlton that had a metal cam cover :-),20 min job well done....well kinda I over tightened one of the bolts it was only supposed be 3 or 4lb torque (if memory serves me) and yes silly me I done a extra tighten then snap.... 30 mins later after drilling the bolt out.I decided to buy a whole set of cover bolts which where dirt cheap,so my moral is if you removing the cover treat it to some new bolts, won't hurt
Subbed 🤝
Thanks means alot
How much would this cost to be replaced?
Thanks for watching the gasket would be about £20
anyone know what you would torgue the cover bolts up to?
I can't remember of my head but my torque wrench wouldn't go as low 🤔
8nm
Thanks for this video.
I have a similar car that makes a tinkling noise when I drive - also the engine sounds like it has low power.
Do you reckon a lose cam cover can cause this??
Hi ayodeji thanks for Watching i don't think it would be your cam cover as its only there to hold the oil in to prevent it spraying everywere. Your Symptons sound fuel related perhaps a good service fuel filter etc and some injector cleaner could help.let me no how you get on thanks again.
How much you charged this
???
I bet that buggers leaking again now lol
Hopefully not they should have kept the rocker covers metal like the old times 😁
i dont know if i got same problem but my engine sound ok but when open the oil cap is like preasure on
Thanks for Watching Have you got any other symptoms 🤔
@@flippingcarsrepairs coolant was leaking I hope didn't cause gasket problem
@@cyborgmatumula650 oh no so your coolant has been low if you got alot of pressure it could be the head gasket, this gasket is just for the oil on my video, have you got any milky substance on the dip stick if you have then it's head gasket which is a big job as the chain has to be removed on theses engines 🤦♂️if not I would by a head gasket tester which is a plastic funnel with some liquid that will change colour they are great hope this helps
