    Great Vid. Just done mine and the exact same bolt snapped. What size is that bolt does anyone know as i cant find a description anywhere online to get a replacement bolt..... i know you should replace the whole thing but i had the new seal and needed the car so that's all done but i need to go back and correct the bolt issue asap.....

    Exact same bolt snapped on me today. Do you think a multi tool will work to cut the plastic? Awesome vid !

      Thanks very much for the great comment and yeh that’s exactly what I used a multi tool little die grinder to chop the plastic and it just leaves the bolt there so you can get some mole grips on the bolt and wind it out :)

    I wish I hadn’t seen this video now. I’m going to do a rocker cover gasket replacement on our ‘51 Mondeo 2.0 (duratec he), with 179,000miles in a few days - Oil getting in spark plug wells.
    Snapping one of the bolts is what I’m dreading, but I’ve said I’m going to do it (partner’s car) and she has already bought the gasket for me from ECP 😂😂😂 any tips to stop it ruining my day? 🤨😄 keep the vids coming mate anyway, great channel!

      Thankyou so much for this great comment I love hearing from subscribers and just take your time with each bolt if it feels like it’s getting tight plenty of wd40 and gently and slowly work them back and forwards

    Your video is the most reassuring I have come acrisss on RUclips. Two of the bolts on my rocker cover are really corroded so I might have to take your advice on mole grip removal.
    My question is: when you got the bolt out, the sleeve it sat in also came out of the bolt hole...how did you then replace the sleeve bit the bolt sits in, in the bolt hole in the engine block?
    I hope that makes sense, just don't want to remove the bolt and sleeve to find the new bolt is loose in a wide open space as the sleeve it sat in is damaged/gone.

      Thankyou for the kind words it’s nice to see my little channel helping people even if it’s just a little bit and regards your question on this vehicle in particular the sleeve is part of the new rocker cover and the reason the bolt has snapped is because it’s seized in the sleeve so you can go ahead and grip the sleeve and gradually spin the bolt out. Make sure the new cover has the sleeves already built in and then you can pretty much do what’s necessary to get the old one off the car :) hope this helps…you can add me on Instagram (TheVWMechanic) for dm responses :)

      They aren’t the best at all are they and I’m sure you can replace em yeah just ensure there is a new sleeve in the rocker cover so your not crushing plastic

    took my zafira in for replacement head gasket how do i know that they have replaced it because there is still oil in my exspansion tank either that or they have not cleaned it out and just refilled with coolent

    • @TheVWMechanic_official
      @TheVWMechanic_official  Год назад

      You will find it very difficult to know they have replaced it because of where the part is

    • @GR-uy1hx
      @GR-uy1hx Год назад

      If they have cleaned it out and have really done the gasket. Could be oil cooler if there's one fitted . There gaskets break up also letting oil into water coolant. But not sure what engine you got or had .😆
