      The Oxford English Dictionary defines “motor” as a machine that supplies motive power for a vehicle or other device with moving parts. Similarly, it tells us that an engine is a machine with moving parts that converts power into motion.
      Since this is both the prime mover (aka motor) plus the hardware to actually make the motor move a load, "engine" would be the correct term.
      If it's an electric motor... why would a person that designs said motor be called an "engineer" and not a motoreer, or some such?

      Thanks for your comment! While the Soudan Mine initially utilized steam engines, it eventually transitioned to using electric motors. My use of the term 'engine room' refers to the historical context of the mine's operations. Appreciate the engagement and keeping the conversation accurate!
