Looks delicious! I've seen these myself in Iceland but been put off by the thickness and size, but after seeing you cook one and seeing how it turned out I'm gonna go for it and get one following how you cooked yours! I agree, chips and fried eggs are the only things to eat with a good steak, but fried mushrooms and tomatoes are also great. Cheers for a great video mate!

Iceland is such an underrated supermarket. Though always remember when you can support your local butcher.

The demise of the old fashioned butcher is so sad. Our local one used to carry cuts of meat never seen in a supermarket, like shin of beef. That makes incredible stews, but I haven't seen it in decades.

people are stupid, i live in Northern Ireland and i can walk in to any butcher shop and ask where did that steak or animal come from and they can tell you also all the parents and lines before that one but people are stupid because they all flock to these supermarkets for crap from god knows where and as a result butcher shops are disappearing now sadly and at the end of the day its us joe public that pay the price. butchers over here have been like that for years and years.

I bought one of these and was a bit hesitant because of the reviews on Icelands website, but it was one of the nicest steaks I have ever tasted, 5 or 6 mins each side on a griddle it was absolutely delicious one of the best rump steaks I have ever tasted, the Sirloin is delicious as well for £5.50 you cannot go wrong.

Still worth the price and every so often Iceland do a 2 for £11 offer (in fact it's on right now) Can't go wrong with the sirloins!

Only drawback with letting a cooked steak ‘rest’, is that it goes cold very quickly. But again, that looked scrumptious. Worth the effort of making it as well.

Try putting some butter in the pan before you add the steak - lovely - I tend to cook the fat on the side at the beginning as well - also I saw James Martin live at the NEC and he got an oxo cube and crumbled it up then rubbed it into a ribeye steak on both sides before cooking - I’ve done that ever since and it tastes good too as it makes a nice gravy - love your videos pal

I strongly recommend using a meat thermometer especially when cooking such a thick steak or a joint. I used to think a thermometer was a bit of a gimmick but it allows you to cook with precision ... you cannot tell how cooked anything is simply by looking at it. Good video - thanks.

@@BaldFoodieGuy I like medium rare and all too often was ending up with medium 😕! Equally, if you want to check that chicken is cooked enough then giving it a good probing will guarantee it's cooked through. You can pick up a thermometer for under £10 on Amazon - it will take your cooking to the next level 🙂👍

I'm not a fan of chilled meat products at Iceland. Have had there thinner steaks and things like chicken wings etc and they've always been poor quality. But this looked decent. Then again for a fiver it should be. Will have to try it if I see it. You cooked it perfectly.

I'm trying to place just exactly where from the cow this comes, although rump in the UK refers to what the Americans call sirloin this isn't a sirloin steak, close but no cigar so I believe this particular cut is coming right at the edge of the sirloin to the round. But I could be wrong I'm interested if other people have other guesses....
