Shoutout to one of the most useful talents of the animal kingdom: barfing. It sounds like he vomited profusely very shortly after ingesting the compound, so it's very possible that he managed to prevent way more than half of it from getting into his bloodstream. And he probably needed to be conscious for that to happen, so he did a good job by not passing out immediately. Some toxins can directly cause someone to vomit. But very often, the reason we vomit is because when we are conscious, we sometimes assess an altered state. Dizziness, headache, numbness, hallucinations, a sense of dread. The body's instincts say, "Maybe we ate something that is poisonous and it's affecting our brain. Let's throw up!" But the brain doesn't know it's in an altered state if it's in standby mode at the time. If you're not conscious, you won't know if you're dizzy, hallucinating, etc.

Vomiting is a big win LOL. But yeah I've felt this, and I'm sure most people have also felt this. I ate some pizza one night and a combination of anxiety and a migraine caused me to go into a panic attack as I felt that sense of doom lurking over me. And, because of that doom, my body definitely felt like that pizza I ate had to come back up, even if it wasn't actually bad.

    • @tom_something
      @tom_something Год назад +282

@@SneakingMOUSE It's even been suggested that the reason seeing someone else vomit or smelling someone else's vomit can cause us to throw up is because we have evolved as social eaters who share food. So if my cousin over there is throwing up, maybe we've both eaten something toxic, and it just hasn't kicked in yet for me.

    • @SneakingMOUSE

@@tom_something Yeah, that's interesting. I enjoy learning more about the brain. I never put much thought into why we vomit, it's always been a simple answer to me. But, there's much more to it of course! Evolution has taken its course, but we still show an incredible amount of traits from our long distant ancestors.

Yeah, a lot of Yohimbine products (yohim*be* is the tree whose bark contains many alkaloids, yohim*bine* is a single alkaloid that was isolated from the bark-) fall into this legal grey area. If they’re not claiming to treat anything the FDA really can’t do much.
So you never know 100% what you’re getting and how much.
I think humans rarely ever get it in drug form…we give it to animals to reverse xylazine (Anased/Rompun) anesthesia but all of those are pretty much animal only.

I take clonidine for stimulant induced motor tics, and I can say, without a doubt, I'd rather have stubborn fat without tics than to have tics without stubborn fat. Also, this video is amazing, even for those who can hardly understand how the body works, and helped me understand what's happening when two opposing pharmacological substances are combined (in this case, clonidine administered as an antidote[?] for yohimbine overdose.)

Yes, my regular doctor prescribed those early on. Not sure if that's normal... 🤔 But they do calm people down, myself included. I understand many people use them before high-stress situations in order to keep calmer, for instance orchestral musicians are known to use them before tests. I gave some to my niece who had failed her driving exam thrice, and they helped her pass the fourth time.
In my case, they only helped a little. I can only eat two a day, or I start to get really dizzy. And my anxiety is pretty hefty, so they really didn't help much on their own. This was before I started with my psychiatrist (there's at least a waiting time of half a year for psychiatrists here in Denmark, as there aren't enough around to keep up with demand). Eventually, we discovered Pregabalin, which is very effective, but I've kept taking the beta blockers, as they help a little, and my blood pressure has also gotten high as a result of my weight increasing a lot over the past couple of years.

That there is a connection between opioid effects and Beta-2 is heavily indicated. We use Clonidine sometimes in cases where there is opioid dependancy that renders normal pain management difficult. Clonidin enhances effects of opiods but has side effects that needs to be monitored but can be used in hospital. This case was very enlightening and indicates that there are more connections between the adrenergic and opioid related systems that needs to be understood. Also highlights the danger of people playing with these substances and ordering them on internet!

I can say from experience they just barely take the edge off. Which is a good thing. There are other meds which are significantly more effective but require professional assessment of a specialized doctor.
The clonidine basically allows you to relax *just* enough to be able to fall asleep for a little bit. Ive also been prescribed these meds while in jail, which is an incredible comfort even if the meds aren't very effective and theyll only dose you about half as many times as the script actually instructs

There could probably be a whole series of vids on ways bodybuilders have messed themselves up by ingesting various compounds. In July I committed to competing as a bodybuilder (natural), and I have since immersed myself in the culture. There are a lot of questionable practices, even among the natural competitors. Some of the supplements they take to lean out are extremely dangerous, and they're completely ignorant to the risks. Considering the effects they're going for, it's a dangerous game they're playing. Messing around with stimulants and diuretics can go south very quickly with dire results. I have one friend who suffered a heart attack 22yo from a very popular stimulant/weight loss supplement, he was a dual sport world class athlete. I'm very thankful for my education that allows me identify the potentially harmful substances commonly used in bodybuilding, and avoid them while educating others.

It’s especially scary because there aren’t accessible ways to test for it like there are with fentanyl.
I stopped using four years ago when I found out my dealer was faking negative fent test strips for her “Xanax” and “ketamine.” I almost died from my usual “Xanax” dose; tested it myself with some free test strips from a local clinic and found out it was fent.
But we don’t have Xylazine test strips here yet and it’s terrifying. Your pill might be fent negative but be tainted with Xylazine and kill you before you have a chance to notice something’s wrong. It’s scary, and we in the harm reduction crowd feel helpless.

So I ended up reducing my Vyvanse dosage from 40 mg to 20 mg. It's easier to fall asleep now. But for about 10 years at 40 mg. I was dealing with the heart rate side effect. (Imagine running and exercising but that was my heart rate 24/7 with this medication and I thought that side effect was normal. )But yeah. I had a microbiology lecturer in the mid 80s who managed to put us off just about every food imaginable with her stories of food poisoning she used to illustrate her lectures. In the end, you came to realise that so long as you treated the food appropriately, cooked, and stored it correctly, you had no issues.
However, if you cooked some lobster and shrimp in your hotel room in Florida, wrapped it in a plastic bag, then took 3 days, driving back to Michigan then made a seafood dish for your family and wondered how you gave them all Cholera....well.... Her stories stuck in our minds, and we still talk about them today. She was one of the leading microbiology investigators for the Health Department back then and specialised in Salmonella.

I have Hyperadronergic POTS, and the symptoms that he had are strikingly similar, minus the seizures. I stand up and my body releases an excess level of adrenaline, causing my heart rate to spike to >200bpm, I go into hypertensive crisis after five minutes of standing, I pass out, shake, vomit, and sweat excessively. Super interesting to learn about the supplements and meds that can cause similar symptoms, since mine come from my own body not knowing how to work properly lmao

I think the main points were:
      - agonists increase activity, antagonists decrease activity
      - adrenaline increases fight or flight response, noradrenaline reduces fight or flight response/produces rest and digest response
      - When you have too much of any of them, the system gets overwhelmed and other similar, non-target receptors can get triggered, which creates a compounded and extreme version of the intended action.
      - In some cases, you can treat an overdose of one substance with another that has an opposing effect, but since this doesn't always work usually hospitals have to provide supportive care until the body can eliminate the overdosed substance.
I'm not a medical professional, so if anyone has different information/explanations please correct me, because I'm really interested in learning more about all of this!
