Thank you for this video. Very educational (I'm just APA and BCA). Its amazing how they get around the table positioning with such gentle smooth strokes.

It's not that crazy. Billiards is not a physical sport, but a mind/control sport. you use elbow, eyes, and your brain. there are other thing, but these are the 3 important things in my opinion. don't get me wrong though, I definitely know Efren isn't at his prime anymore, but he's still super good. Definitely Respect to you, and this legend man.
Absolutely did. So lets have a little debate (in the friendly spirit) ... should Hohman have pointed it out to Efren? It's CLEAR by Hohman's expression that it crosses his mind........
Efren Reyes, or the magician, did not gain his exquisite and unique proficiency from nothing. He started playing pool since he was 8 y/o and now he's 65 y/o (dated today) which means he has been playing pool for 57 years (born August 26, 1954). Efren has mastered the entire pool table angles, strikes force, unimaginable control and precision on the cue ball, and a very high self-confidence with absolutely no vanity (He's very humble and friendly by the way). Two more things about Efren Reyes, he has never underestimated any opponent, and he has never neglected the calculation of any hit no matter how easy the ball is. God bless Efren Bata Reyes.
Everyone is confused by the first rack for some reason. He sinks the three on break. 0:34 He makes the four OFF the one ball. 0:56 Hits one ball, no foul. Hits two ball, no foul. Etc. No foul anywhere in this rack.
Efrén Reyes tenía más interés en observar el juego de Bustamante en la mesa del lado izquierdo, que en concentrarse en su juego .... no fue cuidadoso como en otras ocasiones, fallando varios tiros en ese dįa...
I haven't seen this part, but I'm assuming he missed a call and got snookered. Do you not know how 10-ball works? In 10 ball you usually have to call the ball or safety. If you do not pocket the call the opponent has the option for you to shoot again. At least that's my understanding and the only way he would get another shot after missing.
Ian is exactly right. Thorston committed a foul and seemingly no one noticed. Correction on the time though, It is not at 01:37, but rather 1:37:02. See for yourself
Efren: we are missing your vest that makes you look so professional. If you play better with it on, I’m sure you will wear it. I know these are old but best wishes.

That's because people's eyesight and motor coordination tend to deteriorate as they age. Age also takes a toll on fluid intelligence, so you can expect Efren Reyes to play less and less ingenious/novel shots as time goes on (because his ability to think out of the box would likely diminish as well). It is thus not surprising that Reyes' precision and consistency aren't anywhere near where they used to be back in the 80's and 90's.
It seems like Reyes was not into the game, the entire match he was looking every were but what his opponent was doing, like if he did not care anymore, maybe he was tired or something.
You're right. That's because there is no money on the game. He does these exhibition games for a flat fee, win or lose. SO it makes sense for him to lose intentionally. That way other players will think he's "over-the-hill" or lost his touch. Put some decent money on the game and watch what happens!
Efren said he is 100% self taught. It is you that learns through watching him if you really watch him close. He combines three skills at once that few can do for any length of time. Like darts, you need to put in the years of trial and error under pressure.
