Sir Vernacular prior to the battle: *defending Rella*
Sir Vernacular during the attempts of the battles: curses not to Rella but the game for a game mechanic

Between Bas’s weakness to light and being frostbitten almost EVERY fucking turn, this was a tough fight for me. Surprisingly, Basilio clenched the win for me.
What’s crazier is that I actually replayed the game up to this point because my set up in my first playthrough was trash for this fight.

Ah this fight, it is a noticable difficulty spike compared to the rest of the game, I see a lot of people struggling when attempt for the first time, myself included.
My main strategy for this fight was basically: lower accuracy/evasion and use synthesis moves that could add a physical weakness, in my case, using a berseker class.
Sometimes I would also just sacrifice two press turns just to remove the barrier and get weakness if I feel it was worth passing turns while dealing damage, but that was a bit risky, since the party member who destroys the barrier might get hit with anxiety.
Phase 2 is a victory lap as long you don't enter this phase basically dead, no Rella, no wall, one less press turn.
But yeah, this is indeed a hard fight, but good job beating it

would've been nice if they flipped the power levels of Louis and Sogne here
Louis was hyped up to be this archmage master swordsman but then his fight a few episodes ago was a walk in the park
and then a surprise Sogne walks all of our faces into the park pavement,
blood splattering everywhere and no reasonable save point prior sheeeesh
i have no problem with difficult bosses that require lots of retries but i expect simple foreshadowing and preliminary hype (i especially enjoy mechanical foreshadowing like the classic why are there no enemies and a sussy abundance of consumable items in a row and a convenient save point?) so i can be in the right mood and mindset for them instead of random gotcha surprise dark souls boss with complementary dark souls 2 30-min run-back ahahaha

7:50 Technically she’s not blocking magic, she’s blocking elements. So physical elemental attacks also count. I guess it’s different from Makarakarn.
    10:17 🤣🤣🤣 “O awesome souls, do your thing!” 🤣🤣🤣
I fucking love Basilio. Trying to be dramatic, and failing X)))
15:15 I wonder if you actually have a food item that might help. You’ve cooked so many awesome foods… but you never even looked at the food tab.
Man, it kinda hurts to watch you look for Dekunda. Main character has it. And I think it’s in Healer. (I thought Cleric at first, but it isn’t)
Healer is the one class you haven’t looked at while clicking each one…
29:30 🤣 “Wait, where did you come from???”
God, it’s painful and it’s funny. You keep not seeing Healer.
Unlocked classes also flash once in a while. If you stopped and looked, maybe you’d notice :)
    30:48 Found it, finally!
I wonder if a Knight with Dracodios would be something special in this fight…
53:33 Omg, did you actually do it? Or is it a phase transition?
    53:55 Oh fuck.
I think it’s the same move that Sanctoress did on the human baby?
Hooray, you did it! Man, what a fight. Now I understand why so many commenters were looking forward to it the last two episodes :) And now, we await more lore…

Elements are magic are you trying to tell me that the physical fire attacks are Strohl dipping his sword in oil and lighting it up? No it's still technically magic. I don't buy it this was a betrayal of the mechanics we've been using for decades in Atlus games.

@ I don’t know for sure, I don’t even own the game and only watch your let’s play, but like… If Strohl has a fire-imbued weapon and did a normal attack, would that be blocked?
If Makarakarn blocks only skills, and this ability blocks skills AND elemental weapons, then technically it’s not Makarakarn. It’s the only explanation that makes sense to me.
If that’s not the case, then idk why it doesn’t count as Makarakarn.

Actually, another comment here said the difference might be block vs repel. Does Makarakarn normally repel magic attacks while Rella’s spell blocks it? If so, also technically not a Makarakarn.

Makarakarn repels elemental damage whereas what Rella does is blocking elemental damage.

I think you forgot to add magic elemental damage to makarakarn and all elemental damage to rella's otherwise it seems like the same thing

@@DivineFlameEmperor the difference, really, is repel and block, nothing more.

This fight was too easy for you i think you should redo it with all atchetypes that are weak to ice
