@Alexandria-Ryan The Ordinary Glycolic Acid has been a MIRACLE for the KP on my arms. My skin is very sensitive, very thin skin and glycolic acid is the only thing (out of SO SO SO many things that I’ve tried) that’s made a considerable difference in my KP.

Loved that lip stain on you, the deep red colour wass super pretty!
I know you’ve been getting into skincare for a while now, so I just wanted to recommend the book ‘Skincare: The New Edit’ by Caroline Hirons if you haven’t read it, it’s honestly made understanding what skincare stuff actually works or is necessary, and what isn’t, so much easier. Because skincare is confusing af. The author is a fully licensed cosmetologist, and breaks everything down into simple easy to read chunks, and covers pretty much every skin type and product under the sun

Coming from someone who slept in the SAME pair of contacts when I was younger, for a year straight without EVER taking them out or cleaning them or anything, DO NOT DO IT! It's truly not worth it and I now have corneal scarring, including across my right eye that causes this subtle blur at all times that never goes away and drives me insane.

I don't wear contacts, but from a fellow lupus warrior, I'd advise not sleeping in them. Especially since many people with lupus deal with dry eyes (I have Sjögren's for example which dries everything) AND hydroxychloroquine can already cause retinal damage (which is why you need yearly eye exams to check your field of vision and scan your retina), so please do yourself a favor and keep your eyes as healthy as possible now. This comes from a place of love and concern. ❤

As a left-handed person, it always gives me the smallest amount of joy to see a right-handed person try to do anything with their left hand. Left-handers have had to adapt to the right-handed world, so most of us can easily do many things with our right hands that right-handers can't do with their lefts. I've always switched hands to put mascara on to the corresponding eye and I didn't realize until I was an older adult that most right-handed folks don't/can't do that.
Also, as a fellow girlie with VERY thinning hair, would you ever do a tutorial on how you crimp your hair to make it appear fuller? I've been trying the Nioxin hair system for the past few months and unfortunately, i've not seen any hair growth results.

Beef tallow is so good for your skin!! I've been using it for years, before it was "trendy" and my skin loves it. Works great as a makeup remover, very similar to using a cleansing balm. Melts makeup away. Then I use it as a moisturizer for my whole body. I found a local maker who makes her own tallow products using lavender essential oils, which i love. I hope you keep using it! As someone in optometry school this is something that is so super common. If you know that you have a bad habit of sleeping in contacts they make special ones that are made to sleep in and you only need to take out a couple of days a week or even longer than that which can be more expensive, but will be a lot better for you. Contacts are always best to take them out before bed or at least first thing in the morning to give your eyes a break before you put them again. Overwear can cause pretty quickly and dry eye is super hard to deal with daily!

I used to sleep with my contacts in. The same pair (not a reusable one either) for months. I went to get more and the doctor told me my eyes were so damaged he legally/morally couldn’t sell me contacts. Took about a year to heal but now my eyes are uncomfortable any time I wear contacts. So I’m glad I can only wear them for a few hours at a time before I take them out :)

Aah, the baby oil mix for tanning. That takes me back. In the 70's we used baby oil & flat cola. We'd get pretty deep tan and as long as you kept your skin moisturised, it would last a while.

Then in the 80s we fake baked in the tanning beds. (And I would still lay out with plain baby oil on days I didn't go to the tanning salon.).

My issue with thinning hair turned out to be my diet. I cut out sugar, grains, and seed oils. It was more work keeping it all whole foods, but my hair started filling out again. As a bonus, my endometriosis has nearly disappeared and my cysts are shrinking. A lot of our skin and hair issues can be fixed with a simple, healthy diet.

When you curl your hair, Bobby pin the curl to the top of your hair. I have similar hair to yours and this helps me. After I'm done I spray with a light hair spray and then once that dries, I take them down and the curls last a couple of days.

Your videos were recently delivered to my feed and I instantly loved them, the more I watched I started to learn about your health journey and I thought huh I don’t know what Lupus is let me do some research and turns out I have nearly all of the symptoms so I’m working on getting in with my doctor for testing next week. I’ve had all these weird symptoms I have been brushing off as endometriosis symptoms however I have my period symptoms under control so I was confused on why I still feel horrible and have so many odd symptoms.

Here's a story for you. I used to sleep with my contacts in quite often as well....same thing, would just give a squirt of saline for each eye in the morning and be good to go. Obviously I knew better but was being lazy. Then one day, my eyes became incredibly sensitive to light. To the point where I could not keep my eyes open while being outside, even with sunglasses. Real fun scenario while trying to drive. So I go to my Optometrist, they think I have an infection in my left eye, so give me drops and send me on my way. It did not get better. Went to see another Optometrist, who told me that I had a tiny fragment of a contact lense stuck to my eyeball. She then had to remove it by coming at my eyeball with a very long but thin, sharp and extremely pointy pair of tweezers. She was very precise and fast, and my eyeball recovered fully. But that experience scared me from ever sleeping in my lenses again. I now take them out after dinner every night, before the inevitable falling asleep on the couch while watching TV, and later waking up and trudging up to bed a couple hours later. I hope this helps you to save yourself from going through the same possible experience!!! Sorry but I had to be one of the people to lecture you out of genuine concern.

I'm honestly surprised so many people are shocked at how beneficial tallow is. My grandma literally kept an old butter jar in the pantry that she would add any rendered tallow to, and that was her skincare and cooking jar. She'd strain it through a cloth to be sure it would be clean, and let it set, and just added every bit of tallow she got when she seared beef (she also did the same with bacon fat/ lard, duck, chicken and goose, in separate containers). Every night, before she went to bed, she would take a small spoon and get some of it and rub it on her face, and did the same with bacon fat on her hands, and she had *pristine* skin. She literally used the same stuff to cook with as well, and would only renew the drippings altogether once a year. We actually still have the jar she used, and I use the bacon method myself for my hands. Yes, I have hypermobility, so I already have softer-than-normal skin, but I also take a little of the fat any time I cook bacon and rub it into my hands, and people are always commenting on how baby-soft they are. All in all, when it comes to using animal fats, you could do *far* worse for your skin, and I highly recommend sticking with it.

Loved the hair straightener/curler! I use coconut oil and sea salt on my Looney Lupus scalp twice a week. My dermatologist recommended it as a treatment to stimulate my scalp and help with growth, I also use a rice water/rosemary spray. I have waist length hair for the first time since I was a wee lass! It still falls out during high stress and flare ups but not as bad. That lip colour was gorgeous. The beef tallow will last, it’s phenomenal for everything!!

Corneal scarring plus you can get a parasite in the eye from sleeping in your contacts. I'm an ophthalmic nurse and I don't judge you at all SOOOOO many people sleep in their lenses but I have had too many patients need to be referred to corneal specialist to be placed on special treatments made to fight their specific bacterial parasite Acanthamoeba keratitis and it is ROUGH. It also makes it so you can't wear contacts ever again because your cornea can't handle it. 😭

Putting on makeup is a bit of a journey for those with chronic illnesses/disabilities ❤Medication can also make you ever so slightly less co-ordinated or shaky (even if it's not noticeable usually, it can crop up when you need to rely on fine motor skills). So don't worry about whether you're doing things 'correctly' - people commenting on this need to realise that not everyone is able to apply makeup that way.
