Hi Mia, finally something I can comment on! I work in Brand Protection, so my companies entire job is to act upon things like copyright infringement. This brand is smart, in which they're targeting peoples visualization of other brands without infringement. Unless this brand directly fringes upon something that the other entities have copyrighted (usually names, phrases, and logos) they're actually fully within their legal right to create these products. They also may produce them in another country where the brand doesn't own the copyright or trademark for them, but then technically they can't be sold in the countries in which they do infringe. Their whole gimmick is for people to recognize the packaging shape/elements with a similar enough without infringing name, see the good price- and purchase. I hope this helps someone learn something today, haha.
I’m in brand protection too! I wonder if they can take action against the “dupe” brand leveraging their reputation. In South Africa we call it passing off…
@@kagisomagabe2397 A lawyer might be able to leverage it, but they would have to provide undeniable proof that the brand is damaging the reputation of the original, or misleading consumers. Hello fellow BP/IP warrior :P
Btw, YES, as a viewer with limited legal knowledge, esp without much IP background, comments like these are very useful and interesting! Also I have a funny story for you - in 2022, a few regional brands (rural Great Plains) were selling freeze dried candy at gas stations. Never in a city tho, only small towns. I asked one of the clerks if they knew why & they said they are dodging mostly the “skittles” (whatever brand that is) brand protection people. It severely cracked me up that it took them nearly 2 years to change what they call skittles to rainbow chewies. 😂😂😂 also I doubt there’s a brand protection professional who just drives the rural interstate looking for violators…
@@standdownrobots_ihaveoldglory It would absolutely SHOCK you to know how often products are sold in gas stations that shouldn't be! Sometimes literally even counterfeit merchandise representing the brands themselves! And no, we definitely aren't hitting the road to find this stuff, it's mostly all done with sophisticated software that combs the internet for specific keywords, images, etc- and pulls them into a database where they're reviewed by analysts and then it's determined if they meet the threshold for us to act against them and possibly get them removed. I'm really glad that other people find it interesting!! Thank you for your kind words!
Isn't the only IP the packaging? Otherwise we wouldn't have so many beauty products, soap, tomato sauces, etc....I guess I am saying that chemicals and ingredients are not an IP.
What you need to remember is that this brand has been around here in Australia for years. It's available in our local supermarkets and it's half the price of the original brands. Eg. Charlotte Tilbury's foundation costs $70AUD here, the MCo one is $30-40 (depending on whether it's on sale). It's also not just a dupe brand. It has its own unique products as well. What the rest of the world seems to forget is that Australia is friggin far away. Getting these luxury brands imported costs SO MUCH MONEY so our prices are always jacked up well beyond the worth of the product itself. That's why I love the founder of this brand so much, she wanted to make these things accessible to Australians EDIT just to include this: copyright laws are different in Australia, so there's no issue with the packaging
MCo could make original products in original packaging but they choose to steal from other brands. They are benefiting from stolen product and brand recognition. It may be legal but it's shady af.
I'm with this/you. Not to mention, this is the SECOND company Shelley Sullivan has founded. MCoBeauty (of which she remains the CEO) has been around since 2016 which, yes, is three years after Charlotte Tilbury (chairperson) founded her company. However. ModelCo, which she founded (and is still CEO of) in 2001, has been and continues to be super successful. I mean, One of the first products ModelCo released was _only_ the worlds first aerosol spray tan... 🤷🏼♀ I also think it's worth mentioning that MCo's ENTIRE range is under $40 and this is one of their main focusses as a company. Great products. Great (low) cost.
As someone who has lived in a shelter and gone through DV, I really appreciate you donating makeup to women's shelters. I can tell you from first hand experience how much that will be appreciated. I remember getting a bag of high end makeup, it was such a lovely gesture , all of us girlies living there were so happy with what we got donated. Mia, you're a sweetheart ❤ Mia editing herself into the twilight cover 😂😂
When she announced the donating the Charlotte Tilbury foundation and then immediately touched her face with the brush from the bottle, I was like "Noooooooo, people in need deserve clean make up!"
I'm a broke Aussie teenager and MCO beauty is an Australian brand I love! Their products are incredibly affordable whilst also being super good quality
I have to say the Mco Beauty side looks better on camera, in my opinion. Good for them for making the same products for cheap and cruelty free. Its pretty genius.
I do agree except I was expecting the prices to be cheaper, copycat brands are usually dirt cheap but the quality is as well. So it’s a toss up especially when some of the prices are just a couple dollars less than the original, at that point I’d just spend the extra couple bucks.
@@rhileynnna Wait, so you think it looks better and recognise that it's always cheaper (just not always that much), so you'd... buy the original? I mean, you do you! I just don't know what the reason is?
I think the fact that this brand was made to give Australian beauty enthusiasts access to products that mimick high end makeup they will more than likely or rarely ever be able to get their hands on is amazing. Remember, Australia is far, and import costs alone deter people from being able to buy the high end products we can get whenever we want to. So they have this brand they can rely on. And it's cheaper. You can hate the duping/copying factor but at the end of the day, this entire brand has a purpose and many people seem to love it. ❤
Huh? All the high-end products shown are available in store in Australia. We have a thriving high-end makeup industry here - we aren't all living in poverty? lol
@@courto_oporto Well, I guess I stand corrected? The multiple comments I've seen made it sound like it's way harder to get high end products in Australia/afford them even if they are there because of the higher cost compared to here. So even if you guys have it, this dupe brand is still easier to get, is it not?? I also didn't mean to imply that you "live under a rock" lol
@@courto_oporto That's true, but I'm assuming you live in a city, for some people shopping centres are hours away so not everyone can just stop into Mecca or something and makeup is expensive enough, who wants to pay for shipping on top of it? MCo sells in grocery stores so no matter where you are you can get your hands on a nice dupe.
Hi Mia, I’m Australian and we have had this brand long before everyone else and I swear by this brand it’s really good dupes and now they are finally spreading around the world, this brand is totally safe btw!❤
It is actually born from Model Co, my Aus girlies know 😉. That was less successful because it was poorer quality but more affordable. They evolved into MCO improving their products (obviously with some inspiration) but also raising the price point and dupe factor.
Hi Mia, MCo (said em - co) is an Australian brand that I am obsessed with as I live in NZ so it's not only a fantastic price point but I find a lot of their "dupe" products better than the originals. I find the skin tint serum is better than 90% of foundations I have used also. So happy to see you do a review of their products and see someone else's views as these products are going quite viral ❤
I know you love full coverage matte, but you also look beautiful with lighter coverage, dewy makeup! I think it might seem/feel greasy because you're not used to it, but as a viewer I think you're glowing!
Exactly what I was thinking! Like this she looks like pure sunshine 🌞 plus I wish more people would embrace their natural face cause it really does make them glow
I’m the same way as her though. I used to have SUPER oily skin as a kid/teen but now in my mid twenties I have dry skin. I love dewy makeup, but the thought of my face being sticky and oily looking reminds me of how my skin used to be. I HAVE to set my face.
as an australian, this brand has saved my bank many times, their fragrance mists are literally the same scents im so glad someone out of australia has used this!!
I personally think dupes are perfectly fine so long as the product is a good quality and the lowered cost doesn't come at the expense of the work conditions for the people making the products. The markup on makeup, especially luxury brands, is absolutely criminal so I don't feel bad at all if someone else can do the same thing and sell it for less.
Sadly it usually does mean that, is partially where they are cutting cost, if not from packaging or gimping the formula. Some of the worst offenders just have workers mixing and filling stuff without face or hand protection or don't have an sterilized enviroment. That said, sometimes the pay at those expensive makeup labs or job security isn't also that great.
Put into another context... generic prescription drugs. If you know you're buying a dupe with similar ingredients that isn't guaranteed to work exactly the same, it seems fine. I can't feel that bad for companies marking up their products to "luxury" status.
The luxury brands also spend money on R&D, the fakes don't. So more lot or costs there. Can't still be overpriced but part of the reason it costs more and why stealing the idea is shitty.
@@Frankiepop0905 but I can’t buy the real thing in Australia because they refuse to sell here. And shopping is so expensive that the foundation would be $100. It may look shitty to you but for me it’s the closest I’m going to get to those ‘luxury brands’
As someone living in Australia, I can say that we appreciate having MCO Beauty, despite them being dupes. Because we literally didn't have access to these high-end products until recently 😊
Not to mention vegan and cruelty free products easily accessible and affordable at your local Chemist Warehouse! I just wish they were more inclusive. I can’t use their foundation as the darkest shade is still light for me. And i’m only a medium dark brown girlie.
@zoe7560 I'm thinking more about the glossier dupe because glossier wasn't available in Australia until recently. And Mecca and Sephora are relatively new stores in Australia
I like cheap dupes, because let's be honest it's not putting a dent in the original brands profits as a lot of people buy things for the brand name, not the product and being cruelty free is like a cherry on the top
I would not mind them copying colours or general formulas, but the packaging to make it look like whatever? Mco dors have no consistency in their brand.
It kings off does put a dent in the high end brands halo though- it shows in the best way that most of makeup is smoke and mirrors- marketing essentially.
I believe the drunk elephant dupe is actually based on the be goldi drops and not the sunshine ones. Because I have the goldi drops and it does almost the same thing as the dupe.
Hey Mia! As someone who works for a very well known makeup brand, it is standard practice for drugstore brands to create more affordable "dupes" of popular products. I think of it in a similar vain to high street fashion coping the fashion we see on the runway, making it more accessible. Of course there is a line though, completely dumping other products from various brands with no coherent brand identity is definitely something else! Super interesting video ❤
Hi Mia! As someone who owns a dog rescued from an animal testing lab.. thank you for doing your best to be cruelty free! Our sweet guy went through unimaginable abuse for humans, and seeing someone with a platform speak up for cruelty free is amazing!
Hi Mia, In Australia MCoBeauty is very very popular and is sold in one of our big supermarkets as a more affordable option than Sephora etc. When they originally started getting big here their whole thing was being able to buy premium makeup for half the price. I use it everyday as i refuse to buy high priced makeup especialy when the markup here can be pretty intense. Love your vids
fr it makes me a bit annoyed when there's 'hate' on a really amazing product for us like some of the US products are 4x the price and woolies/big w often has big sales so..
The fact of the matter is that make up is pretty cheap to make, “high end” or not. I don’t see a problem with this company doing this. You barely see a difference in quality yet the products are half the price or more. People who can’t afford high end makeup have a chance to still have high quality makeup using brands like this.
Cheap after you've spend a few hundred thousand on formulations with a cosmetic chemist, sourced packaging, testing, marketing, distribution, shipping, overhead, storage...
High-end makeup is such a waste of money. I've tried everything under the sun...and drugstore wins out every time. And Temu has some of the best mascaras I have ever tried. I will never buy high-end products again.
Sad that so many people are ok with someone stealing brand and product recognition to make sales. MCo should make good products that could stand on their own merits, not be shady af and steal everything this side of being legal to copy brands.
@@-xxMelissaxx- Imitation is not "stealing", this is not counterfeit. They *want* people to know the product they are duping/imitating. You can't steal the product unless you work for the cosmetic chemist who created that produc for the exact formulation and process. It's not shady by any means it's more transparent than many other brands.
As an Australian, I LOVE MCoBeauty makeup. We don't get too many brands that America has and if we do it's 3x the price from places like Mecca and Sephora or we pay a buttload in shipping
Had no idea they were trying to 'dupe' anything 😂 They're a supermarket staple here in Australia, I'm obsessed with their eyebrow products and lip oils
Hey Mia! The Drunk Elephant Bronzi drops are for making your face more tan and the MCobeauty ones you bought are for making your face more glowy. They have a bronzi drop dupe and it works very similarly to the Drunk Elephant ones!
Mcobeauty is actually an Australian brand. The only reason that they copy is because some ONLY SOME American products are hard to find in Australia. Also about the glossier paint blush we don’t have access to the glossier brand in Australia so that’s why they duped it
@@tjodine2433 it was! I actually love it by itself sometimes. But I do think she would have been happier with the way everything sat (blush, bronzer, highlighter) with a true foundation as the base.
It's confusing bc CT does have a foundation that looks almost identical to the Flawless Filter called Airbrush Flawless & it is like spackle. If you think DoubleWear is as thick as it gets, guess again. I think that is what Mia tried that broke her out. Flawless Filter looks good by itself if you're a low/no coverage fan. I wear it all the time by itself & people compliment my skin every time.
I’m Australian and let me tell you, makeup is SO expensive here. I tried the Charlotte Tilbury foundation, paid $70 for it and it was really average. So no, I don’t feel bad about buying cheaper dupes. I haven’t tried the MCo foundation but you can get it for less than $30 when it’s on sale.
i’m someone who is drawn to products and brands based on the aesthetics of the brand (as well as their principles and prices) but as far as ingredients i don’t know much about that so i feel like this brand is smart because it isn’t super cheap to the point it seems sketchy but if you were just looking for something to remind you of packaging for a brand you can’t afford - they’re selling that
An industry insider revealed when he worked for a luxury cosmetic brand owed by a company that had three tiers of products (high-end, middle, and drugstore) that the same pot (of product) went into completely different packaging, the product was the same. Even dollar store cosmetics can be of good quality, you just need to trace the parent companies.
It’s pronounced ‘Emco Beauty’ and it’s the premier brand in Australia right now. No need to pay big $$ any more. We’ve been gatekeeping this brand for a few years here in Australia but are happy the secret is now out!
Hi Mia! I’m from Australia and love this brand! They have actually been around a pretty long time over here and are sold at our supermarket. Super legit brand!😊
Recommendation: In the future, if you know you're going to donate a product with a doefoot applicator, I would recommend using a disposable applicator in order to maintain cleanliness. Doefoots are difficult to clean, not to mention that you probably put the applicator back in the bottle immediately after use (as anyone would), at which point the entire bottle is contaminated 😅
Aussie here 👋🏻 I’ve been loving their stuff for years and had no idea they were dupes 😅 Mco are available at one of the 2 biggest grocery stores in Australia, Woolworths, making their items very convenient to grab while doing the weekly food shop. They also have sales like the other food items in store, so I wait until they’re half off 👌🏻 Their items have helped me enjoy makeup again 😍 I love their brightening glow lux face oil and use it as a primer too, mostly on very dry days (I’ve tried so many primers). Their tubing mascara is amazing and I use their liquid blush in multiple areas, including under the eyes for colour correction. It’s nice to have good options that don’t require a 45 minute drive to a huge shopping centre with over priced brand items.
MCo Beauty has been around for years. It used to be called Model Co. They seemed to rebrand and change direction a little in the past 4/5 years and expand their product range and having it stocked in most Aussie supermarkets. It's regularly on sale for 1/2 price. Personally, their tubing mascara is my go to. I try other brands, but always come back to this.
Australian here, I have been using mco and modelco for yeeeaaarrrssss. They are a fantastic cruelty free brand with products that stand their ground. Dupes aside, their products truly are higher end than chemist (drug store) brands even though it’s sold in our supermarkets. Highly recommend
Hey Mia! I live in Australia and this is one of my favourite brands! For the bronzing drops, there are mcobeaty bronzing drops, and you got the goldi drops, so that’s why they were different! Love your videos!!
American Australian here. It is hard to get your hands on quality makeup in Australia, not to mention it is expensive. AND cruelty-free? This brand is our savior!! 🇦🇺
i love the glowier look on mia 🥰 i used to be a full matte girly but slowly started leaning into the glow and found a mix of matte and glow is top tierrr. especially during summer bc it gets so hot where i live LOL
I love this community we have through Mia’s videos. They’re very informative, Mia takes all of the information and uses it in her videos. This is my favorite RUclips community 100%
Honestly, I loved the cheaper items. In my opinion that side looked slightly better, the cheaper price and the fact that they’re cruelty free is amazing. Definitely going to check them out!
I have never seen mia so bias in a video! I think all the hard work she has put in her own market is making her look at these dupes on a close personal level and obviouslylean toward the original. Keep up the great videos !❤
This may seems stupid but I was sure all english-speaking canadians learned french at school... like we (french canadians) learn english quite early 😅 I know the big majority of "english" canadians are not bilingual, but I tought they at least all had basics covered 😯 Not mad, just a tought hahaha
@@MeghanDutton interesting 🤔 Maybe she just sucks at french 😂 Not judging, I also know many people (I'm in Qc don't hate me lol) my age who are really bad in english even if we start learning it at like 6 years old, and french is not an easy language haha!
@@Clarita98tbf yeah french is really hard to learn and i say this as someone who is French and has spent their entire 26 years of existence learning it lol
My understanding is that MCo is an Australian brand & in Australia the "original" products are often not available at all so they'd like to have some kind of an option of the product versus nothing. At least that's how this brand began. You think the "originals" are expensive for us? Apparently when they are actually available in Australia the prices are obscene! I understand why MCo started. It became so popular & successful that now they've expanded to other countries but when they began they offered Australians what either wasn't available at all or was disgustingly expensive the rare times available.
Hi Mia, I love your videos! I just wanted to let you know that everything is made of chemicals! Chemicals are not inherently good or bad. That's just always been a pet peeve of mine as a chemist 😅 thanks for all the work you put into your videos!
uh well i'm also a chemist and hate when people argue semantics like this. people understand what it meant: synthetic chemicals or toxic chemicals. it comes off as pedantic to say "um ACTUALLY everything is a chemical"
I have never heard of MCo but now I will be looking for them! Cheaper, vegan AND gorgeous on you! I also love all of the Aussies giving a shout out about their hidden gem. I would have not considered actually trying the products without their love and support of the brand! And the lovely results of your dupe side!! Seriously gorgeous results!! ❤❤❤❤
The cheaper lipstick and blush actually look so much better on you giiiirl! It’s about the shades of pink I think, the original ones are too warm&peachy toned Also mco foundation looks like having a better coverage, that’s so interesting
I'm Australian and was using this brand when they were still called ModelCo. Some of their dupes are amazing! My favourites are the Dior blush dupe and the Charlotte Tilbury setting spray dupe.
6:25 drunk elephant actually has 3 variations of the bronzy drops, the bronzy ones (ofc), theres a pink one for blush and they have a goldi one similar to the mcobeauty on used in the video :)
Hey Mia! Aussie girl here- it’s pronounced M-CO-Beauty. We have it here in our grocery stores and they are often on sale too! It’s been around for a bit and has recently gained popularity. They have other products besides the “dupes” too that are amazing ! It’s really accessible to just grab at the grocery store and the prices and quality are amazing ☺️
Hey mia! mcobeauty is a australian brand and we love it over here, they look so similar because we dont have access to all of those products you showed in the video. and over here it is quite alot cheaper than the products they are duping. also, they are a dupe brand and on there tiktok you can see alot more info on them! love this video
One note about this whole thing with specifically MCo which is from Australia: From what I've seen from Aussie BeauTubers I watch, it can be difficult and expensive to get a lot of the brands from North America and Europe there (especially if they aren't available in Sephora or Mecca), so there's a not-insignificant market for an Aussie brand to make dupes of things that people otherwise may not be able to get, or would have to pay an arm and a leg for because of shipping costs and customs fees.
Girl, this brand is popping in supermarkets here in Australia. They have been around for ages under the name ModelCo and rebranded to MCo and started putting out more copies. But just recently they put out HEEEAPS. I'm interested.
It’s 1:25am Saturday morning in Perth Western Australia and I finally get to see one of your videos when it drops. Woohoo. Score 1 for not being able to sleep!!!! 😂❤
Meeee tooo and I randomly bought the blush in the title photo at woolies yesterday 😂. I was considering scraping it into my inika blush pot because it had run out 😝
Girl I've been right there with you about the matte makeup. But I just had a baby at the end of last year and it has caused me to change my whole makeup routine in an effort to save time. I now LOVE the lighter coverage dewy look. Once i realized other people don't see it as "greasy" i felt better. And throughout the day as I actually do get a little greasy its way less noticeable than when I'm wearing matte makeup. You look beautiful!!
this video was so interesting, it’s CRAZY how similar everything looked. most similar one yet. 🤯 and mia, I’ve always said you’re funny cause you truly are, but this video and your comments in between everything got me rolling HAHAHAH
I can’t justify spending that much money on makeup, if I can get a good deal on a dupe that performs just as good as the luxury brand , the Dupe is going to prevail. I’m from New York and everything has gotten so expensive. ELF has been a lifesaver
Honestly in this day and age and in this economy, I am not mad at a brand that clearly states what they are, has good ingredients, is cruelty-free and cheaper than the originals. When people struggle to buy groceries, charging 60-70 dollars per lip oil/bronzer is ridiculous and often times those high-end brands are not even cruelty-free or ethical towards their employees etc. Duping a packaging and offering a nice product seems ok to me, given the circumstances.
I love that the MCo is cruelty free, so I don't think they are stealing a product, they are making it better. There is no reason to torture an animal for makeup.
Mco (em-ko 🗣️) is massive in Aus! They have hit and miss products (like most brands) They get some bad reviews because they copy, but I think it’s great that people can buy quality products for a fraction of the price. Especially in todays economy. Mco also have their own ideas and have products that aren’t dupes as-well. My ultimate fave product is the concealer that’s a Shape Tape dupe. It’s so good!
It was kinda funny when Mia said, "I look like I'm wearing no makeup, but clearly, I'm wearing a lot." Sweetheart, that's the entire goal of doing makeup in a great way! Her skin looks absolutely fantastic. So healthy, glowing from within with a bit of flush. Imho, it looks even better on the inspired-by side. Lately, I've been replacing all my powder makeup for cream, and I've finally found my shade of foundation that's quite natural (more BB cream). Today, I wore the silver TirTir foundation with a Canmake cream blush and a Holika Holika balmstick highlighter. I was honestly already a bit shocked when I looked in the mirror, but when I saw a friend on my way to the supermarket who said, "Wow, you look great today! And you're only wearing a lipbalm and some mascara. See! You don't need much!"😅, I knew this would become my new go- to! PS. Bought the Catrice dupe of the Flawless Filter stuff. It was half the price of the ELF - in case I don't like it, that's less money thrown away. According to a RUclipsr I trust, it's pretty much exactly the same as the ELF in texture, longevity, result, shades etc, just a tiny bit less coverage. Can't wait to try this under the TirTir AND as a standalone. 95% of the time, my makeup goes over a bare face (unless you count moisturiser/spf), but it would be amazing to have natural looking options for bad skin days and fancy parties. I wish everyone their own holy grails, but what's more; to have a great feeling when looking in the mirror. Preferably without makeup, too, but if you're doing your best on 'the paint,' it better boost your self-esteem (even more).
As someone from NZ where everything is really expensive it's quite common to use MCoBeauty products, I actually love the brand and have a few of their items in my current makeup set
Oooo so fun to see you reviewing an Australian brand haha! Finally dupes I can realistically get my hands on at the grocery store haha. I have quite a few of their products actually, my favourite is the flawless glow that stuff is GORGEOUS
As an Aussie MCobeauty Has been BIG for a VERY long time here , personally love it 💗 it’s a go to for teens , i DONT THINK THEY completely COPYED to the point of a lawsuit 😅
I'm an MCoBeauty fan already. I love their dupes of the Sol de Janeiro perfumes. I appreciate them making products we can trust won't F up our skin, etc., (meaning safe ingredients, not like that junk from Temu and others like that where you can't trust what is said is in it), and that actually work, smell good, etc., bc not everyone can afford (or is willing to pay) for all the overpriced viral stuff that comes out every other day. And the fact that it's cruelty-free is an excellent bonus! 🎉
Hi Mia! I would have personally used the Drunk elephant B-Goldi drops to compare with the Mco Golden drops. But anyways this video was so fun to watch. I love your energy so much ❤❤❤😂❤❤❤
From a distance, the doupe side looked nicer. I'd never spend that much money on makeup, so it's nice to know there are decent quality similar products. Nice review!
I would think (since this is an Australian brand) some of these products can’t be purchased in Australia, are extremely expensive to purchase and ship to Australia or can be purchased but due to import taxes are double marked up. Also this is done in the perfume world as well. There is a website called Dossier that markets their scents as “inspired” by popular brands. Also this just reminds me of generic drugs, which everyone feels is completely fine.
I’m sorry but I’ll never be mad at any brand selling copycat products of really expensive ones. Ppl wanna say expensive products are that price bc materials and “ethics”😂 right. Keep feeding the rich
Or you could buy dupes simply because is what is on your possibilities. "Not feeding the rich" is the worst excuse you could come up with because many of these makeup dupes are owned by a single brand family and the people behind those are some of the richest men in the world. Like the Shein owner and his 20 something similar stores all pretending to be competition, while comfortably exposing workers to lead.
That is crazy so you want bootleg and don’t have respect for creators and brands. I guess patents don’t mean a thing then? People can just take anything. The solution to luxury products is to make other affordable products with the same ingredients not the exact formula and product. There are creative ways to deal with this, you don’t have to steal.
@@kelseywillow8110 1. They’re not patented elements 2. They’re not bootleg because they clearly say Mco 3. People want to buy these products because high end brands made them want it through manipulative influence marketing. They’re not the good guys.

They dont have the *best* all day wear BUT if you just need simple makeup that gets the job done and arent concerned about finer details then they are great! So cool seeing you cover an Aussie brand
Hi Mia, this brand is sold in New Zealand and Australia. We don't have easy access to most of the more expensive products. Make-up in New Zealand is incredibly expensive. Mecca prices, if you can find one, are insane.
I'm not sure why this specific brand is being targeted with a few negative remarks. Makeup brands influence each other, constantly. The list could go on and on. To have a cheaper, more ethical and decently performing option for people is a positive, imo. Actually, I'm glad I saw this video because now I want to try MCoBeauty! :)
As an Aussie. Mco (pronounced Em co) has taken over the stores and I love it. They’re often on 50% off sales and make good and safe makeup affordable. I get so excited when they add items. You have to try the tubing mascara!!

That's why I love the founder of this brand so much, she wanted to make these things accessible to Australians
EDIT just to include this: copyright laws are different in Australia, so there's no issue with the packaging
MCo could make original products in original packaging but they choose to steal from other brands. They are benefiting from stolen product and brand recognition. It may be legal but it's shady af.

I also think it's worth mentioning that MCo's ENTIRE range is under $40 and this is one of their main focusses as a company. Great products. Great (low) cost.
As someone who has lived in a shelter and gone through DV, I really appreciate you donating makeup to women's shelters.

Yeah the Charlotte Tilbury bronzer is nearly Aud $90. Why the hell is it so expensive?! I love MCo products.
But why won’t somebody think of the high end brands! 😂 the poor brava who manipulate us every day with marketing and beauty influences on social media
What's affordable in 20+ dollars mist etc?
I have to say the Mco Beauty side looks better on camera, in my opinion. Good for them for making the same products for cheap and cruelty free. Its pretty genius.
Agreeee
I agree that it looks better!
I also totally agree
@@courto_oporto That's true, but I'm assuming you live in a city, for some people shopping centres are hours away so not everyone can just stop into Mecca or something and makeup is expensive enough, who wants to pay for shipping on top of it?
Yes! This looks sooooooo good on her!
Dewy is totally her look, I agree! She looks so good with dewy makeup
I’m the same way as her though. I used to have SUPER oily skin as a kid/teen but now in my mid twenties I have dry skin. I love dewy makeup, but the thought of my face being sticky and oily looking reminds me of how my skin used to be. I HAVE to set my face.
I thought the same thing! Shiny looked better than matte!
as an australian, this brand has saved my bank many times, their fragrance mists are literally the same scents im so glad someone out of australia has used this!!
Most of us can't afford the luxury brand. I love that there are dupes!
And i’m only a medium dark brown girlie.
that’s literally not true. A lot of these products are new and we have all the ones they are copying in mecca, sephora, revolve, david jones, myers
@zoe7560 I'm thinking more about the glossier dupe because glossier wasn't available in Australia until recently. And Mecca and Sephora are relatively new stores in Australia
@@SophieDumoulin-s8dwhat? mecca was literally here in the 90s. The glossier dupe came out when you could get it shipped to australia.
@@SophieDumoulin-s8dand sephora has been here since 2014.
I like cheap dupes, because let's be honest it's not putting a dent in the original brands profits as a lot of people buy things for the brand name, not the product and being cruelty free is like a cherry on the top
Laniage IS cruelty free. Check their website.
I would not mind them copying colours or general formulas, but the packaging to make it look like whatever?
Mco dors have no consistency in their brand.
THIS
High end brands are just ridiculous.
It kings off does put a dent in the high end brands halo though- it shows in the best way that most of makeup is smoke and mirrors- marketing essentially.
You'll never catch me feeling bad for multi-million companies.
Aw I hope your dog is better now, im sure you take amazing care of him ❤
Hi Mia, In Australia MCoBeauty is very very popular and is sold in one of our big supermarkets as a more affordable option than Sephora etc. When they originally started getting big here their whole thing was being able to buy premium makeup for half the price. I use it everyday as i refuse to buy high priced makeup especialy when the markup here can be pretty intense. Love your vids
fr it makes me a bit annoyed when there's 'hate' on a really amazing product for us
like some of the US products are 4x the price and woolies/big w often has big sales so..
The fact of the matter is that make up is pretty cheap to make, “high end” or not. I don’t see a problem with this company doing this. You barely see a difference in quality yet the products are half the price or more. People who can’t afford high end makeup have a chance to still have high quality makeup using brands like this.
they can make high quality products without blatantly and lazily duping like this
Cheap after you've spend a few hundred thousand on formulations with a cosmetic chemist, sourced packaging, testing, marketing, distribution, shipping, overhead, storage...
As an Australian, I LOVE MCoBeauty makeup. We don't get too many brands that America has and if we do it's 3x the price from places like Mecca and Sephora or we pay a buttload in shipping

Mcobeauty is actually an Australian brand. The only reason that they copy is because some ONLY SOME American products are hard to find in Australia. Also about the glossier paint blush we don’t have access to the glossier brand in Australia so that’s why they duped it
The CT isn’t a foundation, but it’s beautiful under or mixed with a foundation for a glow! The Elf Halo Glow is also very similar.
This bothered meeeeee
I came to comment the same thing but it was a good comparison side by side.
Elf halo glow is amazing. I have both (CT one too) and teach for the halo glow more 😅
I’m Australian and let me tell you, makeup is SO expensive here. I tried the Charlotte Tilbury foundation, paid $70 for it and it was really average. So no, I don’t feel bad about buying cheaper dupes. I haven’t tried the MCo foundation but you can get it for less than $30 when it’s on sale.
Try Mco! Best concealer I’ve ever used & it does NOT crease. crazy.
I got it for $5 U.S on sale & the foundation here would be $12 or so
i’m someone who is drawn to products and brands based on the aesthetics of the brand (as well as their principles and prices) but as far as ingredients i don’t know much about that so i feel like this brand is smart because it isn’t super cheap to the point it seems sketchy but if you were just looking for something to remind you of packaging for a brand you can’t afford - they’re selling that
An industry insider revealed when he worked for a luxury cosmetic brand owed by a company that had three tiers of products (high-end, middle, and drugstore) that the same pot (of product) went into completely different packaging, the product was the same.

They have hit and miss products (like most brands)
They get some bad reviews because they copy, but I think it’s great that people can buy quality products for a fraction of the price.
MCO looks sooooo much better and less harsh. Also, cruelty free? Major win in my books.😊
Well the USA has a reputation for being very litigious… I guess on Planet America they think that’s normal
Not Mia saying Goldy to describe the MCoBeauty glow drops without even realizing Drunk Elephant has B-Goldi drops… 😂😂
lmao when you said soulful for souffle, I died. iconic
Omg MCoBeauty is an Aussie brand everyone loves it here, cause it’s so cheap and actually a lot of their products are great 💗
I'm an MCoBeauty fan already.
Love your makeup videos the most! So excited for this one
Spot on. Also- regional areas often don’t have a Sephora or Mecca
Dewy skin looks so much better on you! So youthful and healthy looking!
@@ChocoRolesname one?
That is crazy so you want bootleg and don’t have respect for creators and brands. I guess patents don’t mean a thing then? People can just take anything. The solution to luxury products is to make other affordable products with the same ingredients not the exact formula and product. There are creative ways to deal with this, you don’t have to steal.
@@kelseywillow8110 1. They’re not patented elements 2. They’re not bootleg because they clearly say Mco 3. People want to buy these products because high end brands made them want it through manipulative influence marketing. They’re not the good guys.
Watched your videos for years so hearing your voice coming from my 9 year old daughters bedroom this evening sparked up a great bonding session 😂 she's asked for all of these brands for her up coming birthday so she loved watching your review. Expensive times ahead for me 😅
The way Mia says soufflé is sending me 😭
And she's Canadian😂
I am an MCo lover and I just moved to the uk and it’s killing me not having easy access to it, but it is saving me money not being able to “look” at MCo every time I went to woolies. My all time fave is the Xtendlash mascara 😍
The Charlotte Tulbury Flawless Filter isn't a foundation :) it's a glowy primer. You look amazing with a glowy base!
Aussie here!! As a broke girl i definitrly used MCO for a reslly long time!! They started with just eyebrow products i think and then grew. I shop only cruelty free and try to sace money where i can so i've used a lot of cheap chemist brands etc but i really think MCO are the best! They dont have the *best* all day wear BUT if you just need simple makeup that gets the job done and arent concerned about finer details then they are great! So cool seeing you cover an Aussie brand
Just in case anyone is interested, MCo Beauty is sold in grocery stores (supermarkets) in Australia. Very low tier brand.
Would love an update on what your day to day makeup collection is now that you switched to cruelty free :)❤
I LOVE this brand. We have it in NZ and it's honestly better than expensive stuff
As an Aussie. Mco (pronounced Em co) has taken over the stores and I love it. They’re often on 50% off sales and make good and safe makeup affordable. I get so excited when they add items. You have to try the tubing mascara!!
I needed a new video! Thank you! ❤️
