- Plants vs Zombies is a timeless masterpiece. I mean you get to fight zombies with plants so that's pretty cool. However, the speedrun can get just a bit... nerve-wracking

Fun fact in the original version of the game, the dancing zombie was actually michael jackon in his Thriller outfit, but after his death, they thought it was a bit distasteful and changed the sprite

The reason why there are "suddenly" two rows of water in the backyard is because World One is the front yard, which didn't have a pool. Your backyard always did.

Since you seemed confused, here a little clarification: Worlds 1 and 2 play in the front lawn, worlds 3 and 4 in the backyard and the remainder of the game on the roof. This is why world 3 and 4 have a pool to begin with - it was there before this all went down. Not to mention, at the beginning of each level, in worlds 1 and 2 you can see that there's nothing like a fence up front with only a wonky picket fence at the top, while in worlds 3 and 4 you have zombies requiring ladders to climb your backyard fence :)
This however raises the question on why a) at night there appear graves out of thin air and b) how the zambonie zombie gets the vehicle into your backyard in the first place.

Pro Tip : The strat to speedrun Zomboss is to freeze, thaw, and refreeze the robot as much as possible. When he is still, let the plants to their job, when he moves blast him with heat and refreeze, repeat the thawing process if you can for extra damage (remember to not overuse this strat since the Jalapenos and Ice Shrooms are needed for his balls, use them wisely and keep your brains inside your head)
Yea I kept a row of empty pots at the back in case the front pots get eaten or smashed, so the ice shroom/jalapeño could work quicker

Fun fact, I completed this game 10 years ago when I was 8 years old. I still remember sat on my bed with my I pod touch on the final level. My hands were aching and my I pod was boiling hot.

Not pro tip: If you don’t have any wall nuts or defense plants and you need to buy time to do something, use a flower pot (if you have them on your inventory) or sunflower. They load quickly and could buy you a couple seconds to do something if you need it. Ps you could use any plant tbh lol, just try to use the cheapest in your inventory Also, the final boss has a pattern with the fire and ice balls. I’m pretty sure they alternate every time, but just in case make sure you have at least one fire and ice plant in your conveyor before the zombies fires the thing
@does bruno mars is gay that’s why I said pretty sure but there’s a high chance they’re random, it’s just that they seem to alternate more commonly than it seems randomized. What I said stands though; it’s always best to keep at least one fire/ice plant with you at all times
If I don't have a wall nut, I use a puff shroom because it is _free_

And always freeze the Robot even before firing any, the rest is handled by the plants!

@@tree0137 Not even by that much. There's like, 10 plants you can but with money, and the rest are only given by progressing through the story. The microtransactions are helpful, sure, but the game isn't IMPOSSIBLE without it, and if you're stuck on a level, you can even go to a different world to unlock a new plant, and then take that one back to the level that gave you trouble.

I think you can shave off some time in the early levels (tutorial stages) by planting the peashooters closer to the zombies. The closer the peashooter are to zombies, the faster their projectiles hit. The faster the projectiles hit the zombies, the faster they die.
Yes, but there's a certain time you need until the peashooter kills the zombies. If you plant it even a bit too far and they bite it even just once, your peashooter will already be eaten after like 10 zombies on the same lane. You need a consistent defense.
I actually kinda like this video format. More of just listening to him explain the run rather than watching him play all the way through it

I totally didn't expect there to be a speedrunning scene for this game, as it always felt like a typical tower defense game. That 50% rule is so clever in how it makes the zombie hoards just the right amount: it doesn't kick you when you're down and doesn't make the game boring when you figured it out.

Now that I think of it, the zombies could win against the plants pretty easily in some scenarios.
In pvz2 the dynamite comes from the back. Digger zombies work the same in pvz1

Some versions of the game do have PVP modes...where that sentence still doesn't make sense, sadly.
It's a classic PVZ speedrunner thing to get plants and zombies mixed up, just ask WarMech, one of the top 5 runners

@@Yesmanpersondude exactly, but unlike the peashooters, their zero cost makes it easy to just fill the screen with them. Having an Imitator to counteract the Sea-shroom's slow recharge rate also helps for fog levels

112th place is actually pretty good for a first/early attempt where you are still figuring things out. Well, exactly how good it is depends on how large the community is, but in this case it does seem like it was a decent enough performance.
Can we really appreciate that someone took a good look at this game and said "Hey, let's make a small tower defense game a 3rd person multiplayer shooter with its own currency and cheetos advertising"

For me, I put 1 peashooter on the lane. Then, I do the day levels normally. After that, in the night levels, I do not spam puffshroom, just put them behind the walnuts. I replace all my puffshrroms with doomshrooms. Further into the game, I replace all sunflowers with twin sunflowers. In the fog levels, I just use insta-kill plants only, along with a sunshroom here and there. I do not use lily pads at all. In the roof levels, I just use corncobs, that fan plant used to stop bungee zombies, twin sunflowers, and insta-kill plants.

I keep screenshots of my favourite symmetrical pattern I make in PvZ levels!
The most favourite of mine is the Pool end level where i use this method!
Twin sunflowers in all rows and in 2 last columns, 2 garlic in the grass rows adjacent to the pool. A row of 3 Gloom shroom on the back of the each garlic. 3 spikeweeds on the top and bottom rows at starting column with a snow pea on each of the same row at the back column. 6 cattails on pool with tall nut for protection. You can put pumpkin on the first gloom shrooms for extra protection. And you just need to refill garlics once they get fully eaten. There you go the snow peas on the both border lanes will slow down zombies and make them walk longer on the spike weeds along with the OP gloom shroom destroying everything on grass as well the pool lanes.
Not only do the zombies find a Zamboni, they DRIVE IT UP A DAMN LADDER

Honestly though there is so much extra tech involved in PvZ2 it would be very difficult to come up with fast strats when everything is much more complicated than PvZ1

If you think about it these zombies are people, literally resurrected corpses of people. You live in a world overrun by zombies and you struggle to survive each day defending your house with sentient plants.
A tip for surviving 5-9
It is not as hard as you think it is, but you need patience. You have to build a steady defense with watermelon pults and this will practically carry your game. Make sure you have a cherry bomb and Jalapeno. Place them correctly and the rest is understanding of the game.
The loadout - Melon-pult, Cabbage-pult, Sunflower, Flower pot, Jalapeno, Cherrybomb, Potato mine(entry-kills), Umbrella leaf.

I reinstalled the game after manyyyyy years and I didn't have any problem at all playing the levels. It was like slicing butter.I don't why it felt much harder and challenging when I used to play it as a kid. I still love the game as much as I did back then 💕

@Thi_Usi fair- but the game is totally playable tho. Just turn on airplane mode and ignore the micro transactions and you’ve got a pretty solid game

Pro Tip from someone who has been playing Plant Vs. Zombies for 8 years: Never use mushrooms in daytime, because it is really useless to first plant the mushroom and then the coffee bean when you can just use daytime plants more effectively. The coffee bean irritates me, and also you really don't have to use extender plants unless it is the twin sunflowers because they save space and provide double the suns.
