  • Welcome to Florence, the city father of the Italian Renaissance, one of the Italian cities richest in history. Now, if you consider that Italy is the country in the world with the highest number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, you can understand how much stuff there is to see in Florence!
Maybe too much, to get lost!
So, if you are so lucky to have a trip here, in this video you’ll make your ideas clear about:
    - what are the 3 major attractions that you can't go home without having seen
    - 2 hidden treasures, less touristy, that will make you feel to live an authentic experience and, finally,
    - what is my best suggestions to taste the typical Italian food
The first major attraction surely is Piazza del Duomo, the Cathedral Square, where you can admire the Cathedral, and its extraordinary Brunelleschi’s cupola, as well as Giotto's Bell Tower and the Baptistery of San Giovanni. A unique building complex!
You can’t leave Firenze without having seen Piazza della Signoria, in the past the center of the political life of Florence. Here you can admire Palazzo Vecchio, the Neptune Fountain, and Loggia dei Lanzi, with its famous statues. Just behind the corner there is the Uffizi Gallery, if you want to see works of Botticelli, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and … !!!… Raffaello.
The last “must to have” attraction is Ponte vecchio, and its traditional shops and panoramic terraces.
A hidden treasure is Officina Profumo, the oldest historical pharmacy in all of Europe: here the monks sold medicinal plants.
You wanna see a less tourist district? Go in San Frediano: here there are ancient workshops, restaurants and cafes frequented by locals.
    HOW
How to follow a daily-tour to better visit the city? From the train station, I suggest you to go first to Officina Profumo Pharmacy and then lose yourself in Piazza Duomo. From there, in 5 minutes, you can reach Piazza della Signoria. If you decide to visit the Uffizi Gallery, consider it takes at least 2 hours to visit it. Then, you can go to Ponte Vecchio. I suggest you to do all this in the morning, so that you can go to lunch in San Frediano, a less touristy district, full of restaurants and frequented by locals. I have eaten very well in Trattoria la Casalinga. Here, try Peposo or Stracotto dishes. After lunch, you can relax by walking along the Arno river. Finally, enter in Giardino delle Rose and finish your trip in Piazzale Michelangelo, where you can admire at a glance the entire city from this panoramic point.
    WHY
If you are going to plan a trip in Italy, why should you visit Florence instead of other Italian places of interest? I could mention several reasons: the Renaissance, the food and the famous Tuscan wine, all the events organised for tourists, or fashion shows.
But the main reason for me is the beauty of an entire historic city center deemed a UNESCO World Heritage site, all with a small town feel, easily visited on foot unlike other cities, so that you could visit it in a day or a week if you want to deepen all its treasures. And, if you want more, get you out of the city to visit the wonderful Tuscan Countryside.
