- The Historic Center of Florence is on the list of the World Heritage Sites of UNESCO: "Florence, the symbol of the Renaissance, rose to economic and cultural pre-eminence under the Medici in the 15th and 16th centuries. Its 600 years of extraordinary artistic activity can be seen above all in the 13th-century cathedral (Santa Maria del Fiore), the Church of Santa Croce, the Uffizi and the Pitti Palace, the work of great masters such as Giotto, Brunelleschi, Botticelli and Michelangelo" (quote from whc.unesco.org/en/list/174). In addition, the Boboli Gardens are one of the 12 Medici villas added to the World Heritage list.

I was born and raised in Texas (3rd Generation to be exact) and have lived in Central Texas for the past 20 years. Central Texas is one of the most beautiful, if not the most beautiful parts of Texas. But upon returning from a multi-city vacation across Italy; I realized the exact meaning of beautiful. Italy is so rich with history, so ornate in architectural design and so breathtakingly beautiful, I was left awe-inspired and kind of ruined for the land I call my home. I am grateful for all I have and always will be, but my eyes have definitely been opened and my views forever changed after visiting Italy. The Italians truly have a gift.
With all its controversial problems, Italy is the first country at world as numbers of UNESCO, from North to South. Not only: italian cultural and artistic heritage is spread everywhere. Try to visit the National Gallery in London or the Louvre in Paris. A country who opened the door of the modern civilazation to the rest of the world...
Golden 1 you make me totally cry. Italians really barely and badly appreciate what they have. Italy's historic heritage should go under UN's protectorate to replace the majority of clueless italian governments and people who misbehave with their history.
@@xandercanale Some people.........I agree with you about governments. Less and less resources for culture. Less and less resources for education. You know, we're always been the country of Humanities. People grew with more empathy for what history leave us. Now mantra is: Humanities doesn't give you food. We tried to put some fine persons in the righ places but the old politics wheel ground them. And now? Now, Italy is the world’s ninth-largest economy, we have an historical heritage that you know, we have wine-gastronomic heritage remarkable and, despite everything, we are underwater. We are very proud of our historical heritage and we'll make the right things firstly for ourselves and then for anyone who wants to enjoy it.
I respect UN and I think there are other priorities before make a historic heritage protectorate in Italy ;-)

I used to live nearby Austin some years ago before being deported, now i live in Florida, hopefully i will visit Florence in the near future.
I am from Dublin Ireland and I am 54 years old. This is beautiful and has me crying. In 1981, when I was 17, in the final year of schooL. I was not studying Art, History or Italian (I was a science nerd), I was very keen on doing this trip. This was the in the recessionary 1980s in Ireland, it was before Ryanair existed and foreign school trips were not the norm. It was expensive in todays terms. To finance the trip to Italy, the day it was announced I walked into Dunnes (a chain store) in North Earl Street and asked if they had any part-time jobs. They took me on. For the next few months after school I worked in Dunnes, North Earl Street, while at the same time studying for the leaving, and saved what I could towards the tour. In the spring of 1982, , the school sadly announced that the tour was cancelled as there were not enough students willing to go on it (I was one of the willing and had signed up). To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. Eventualy I managed to get to Florence this year in 2018, 37 years after the original plan. I loved it and had been waiting 37 years.

Amazing!! I am from Brazil, and for me a trip for Italy is veeery expensive (in a middle class reality). But i am working and studying and i am sure that i will see Italy with my own eyes... (My english is horrible i am sorry)

This is a beautiful video. My son studied in Florence this summer. We took some time to appreciate the Renaissance masterpieces at the many museums. Made me reflect on these amazing creations. Although we’ve progressed in the sciences and technology, we have unfortunately not done so in the arts. Experiencing this moment in history is good for the soul.

Florencie, přímo malebné město. Naprosto obdivuji, oči můžu nechat na florentském dómě, je naprosto nádherný. Malby v samotné kupoli, v interiéru jsou doslova dechberoucí. Got sent home from studying abroad there because of COVID. We had a little over a month. Dreamlike. It was literally too good to be true.
Stayed for a week in the marvelous city last year. Breathtaking place, the museum, the church, the scenes, the food, the streets, superb!
