This film is inspired by a man named Mehran Karimi Nasseri who called the departure lounge of Terminal 1 in Charles de Gaulle Airport from August 26th, 1988 until July 2006 when he was taken to hospital. Being homeless and stateless he returned to the airport calling it home until he died of a heart attack in November of 2022.
Correct. Additional info is they chose a fictional country for the film and Tom Hanks wanted to speak in Bulgarian because his father in law was a Bulgarian emigrant.
That is beautiful and sad at the same time
Foreshadowing,,,, The girl with the red stamp was a Star Trek fan in this movie....... That actress later played Uhura in several Star Trek reboot movies,,,,,,(Zoë Saldana)
There's several now famous actors in this movie that I had no idea about (saw it a couple of times many years ago)! It's always fun to see their small early roles.
Bisscute please don't feel the need to ever apologize for being emotional/crying.
You are showing empathy and compassion, and that's a wonderful thing.
Thank you for the kind words ❤️
@@BissFlix Thank you for being your honest, fun and endearing self.
I hope you have a wonderful 2024.
And it's almost expected with women to cry at movies!
30:33 "I tell everybody I'm 33 and most of the men I've dated think I'm 27, but-"
I would be _one_ of them.
I would just like to state, for the record, that Catherine Zeta-Jones was born in 1969. The year this movie came out, she turned 35. She has aged _incredibly_ well.
This movie wins even more of a tragic momentum when realizing that it's based on a true story.
Didn’t know that ❤️
I love how empathetic you are, Biss, when you see people treating others badly, a beautiful person. I think you're right- Dixon wasn't an evil man, he's just a bureaucrat who took his job way too seriously. Happy New Year and thanks for a year of great videos! Looking forward to the next one!
Thankk you ❤️
Thank you for reacting to this very underrated movie! I went and saw this in the theaters when it came out because I thought it was a very interesting concept. It turned out to be one of my favorite movies of all time!
My pleasure, hope you enjoyed it ❤️
I always felt the "villain" of this movie is just circumstance. There was no clear answer with how to deal with the situation, so everyone just did the best the could.
To my mind, the villain is bureaucracy. Generally, the people want to help him, but the people are all working within a bureaucratic system that can't handle him.
I enjoy that you get emotional, it makes the reviews more effective and engaging rather than just clinically talking about it.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed this ❤️
Happy New Year Madalina! Thank you for another great reaction to a film that flew under the radar and is really imho underrated. Tom Hanks can do no wrong and he and Spielberg really click when teamed together. Don't ever apologize for having and displaying your emotions to what is on the screen. Your passion is your strength, don't ever lose it!
Thank you too❤️
Thank you for reacting! Been asking and waiting for my favorite reactors about this movie, you are the first one! Now, on to the reaction!
Wonderful reaction, never cries so much before (and I have watched numerous times).
Zoe Saldana becomes Uhura in Star Trek, Diego becomes Cassian Andor, Stanely Tucci (Dixon) becomes Caesar Flickerman in Hunger Games! So many great actors!
Zoe Saldana as Gamora in Guardians of The Galaxy, Stanley Tucci as Dr. Abraham Erskine in Captain America: First Avenger
The way you said, "Steven Spielberg, oh!" made my knees weak🙂🙂❤❤❤❤
Haha ❤️
The movie was inspired by the story of Mehran Karimi Nasseri. He landed at Charles De Gaulle Airport near Paris in 1988, after being denied entry into England because his Iranian passport and United Nations refugee certificate had been stolen. French authorities wouldn't let him leave the airport, so he remained in Terminal One, a stateless person with nowhere else to go. He was eventually granted permission to either enter France or return to Iran, but he chose to live in the terminal and tell his story to anyone who would listen. Reportedly, his mental health deteriorated over the years. When given the opportunity to live in France, he refused because the documents did not identify him as "Sir Alfred", and he claimed to have forgotten his native Persian. He left the terminal in August 2006 to be hospitalized for an unspecified illness. Afterward, he lived in a hotel on the money received from the film (DreamWorks reportedly paid him $250,000 for the use of his biography). Nasseri moved back to Charles de Gaulle airport in October 2022. He died in terminal 2F on November 12, 2022.
Tom Hanks's father-in-law is of Bulgarian origin. His character Viktor Navorski speaks Bulgarian.
The airport set built for the film was based on Düsseldorf International Airport. The set was a near-full-size replica built in a former hangar, with three working sets of escalators, and populated by many popular stores (e.g. Burger King, Mrs. Fields, W.H. Smith). Some of these brands were recruited by DreamWorks, while others approached the studio when word of the production got out. Many of the stores and restaurants were built by the construction crews that built the actual mall and airport stores for the respective companies, and some had fully-functioning equipment, such as ovens and cash registers. However, the inclusion of a brand on the set was not a guarantee of inclusion in the film; DreamWorks retained full control over editing, and some brands appear only briefly or not at all.

Thanks for the info ❤️
"He love that goat." Great movie. Kinda obscure nowadays. Thanks for the reaction
Thanks for watching❤️
14:00 "¡Aye! ¡No puede ser! ¡No puede _ser!"_
🤨 Son of a gun. I _understood_ that. It's _been_ a while since I've seen this movie, and since then, apparently, my _Spanish_ has improved. He's saying, "It cannot be! It cannot _be!"_
Finally someone reacts to this movie: Kudos from me !! You're truly unique.
I heard you say you never watched Friends: well I beg you, please, please react to this awesome legendary comedy show !!
All the best for this new year, salutari from the Netherlands!
Hi Biss, she really meant caneloni, which is a kind of pasta and not canoli, the dessert.
And as you never watched Friends, why don't you react to it? I would love to see it.
this film is what made me love Tom Hanks as an actor. he nails everything he's in. If Biss loves this film i think she'd really love A Man Called Otto as well. it gives similar vibes to this film. terminal was definitely in my all time top 10 favorite films just because i love the campiness of it and was only just replaced with A Man Called Otto. just gotta like feel good films every once in a while.
I like the original better, A Man Called Ove. They are both good in their own way.
i heard the original is a book, tho@@joejawson5264
It has a similar atmosphere as Cast Away
As a Bulgarian myself I have to say that Tom Hanks's Bulgarian is quite good. The people who wrote the movie made sure he didn't say some nonsense that nobody could understand. It's interesting that the character is from a fictional country, but he's speaking a real language.
Yeah he did amazing in that role ❤
Because his father-in-law is Bulgarian. He knows the right words from him :)
"Woman, get a cat." 😂😅😂😂😂lmao!
❤️
I want to wish you a Happy New Year Bisscute! I hope you have a good reaction year of 2024. Thanks for a heartfelt reaction of this movie!
Great reaction. You have such a kind heart. ❤️
Thank you so much!❤️
Happy New year Biss. Thanks for all your streams. You make better ours days. My best wishes for the 2024. 🎉🍾🍷
Happy new year!! ❤️
I love this movie! I found it on TV one day when I was sick in bed and I fell in love with it's heartwarming quirkiness. Tom Hanks is so easy to watch, he really is one of the best actors.
It’s amazing ❤️
"You kind of crowded yourself there" - nice one :)
Tom Hanks looks just like my dad. Especially in that scene where he's taking a shower in the sink. It's trippy.
I had a neighbour who looked exactly like George Lucas. Such coincidences can be pretty freaky eh? :D
Just watched the movie today and watching your reaction. Such a beautiful movie❤
Tom Hanks is just a great actor. You could put him on an island with no other actor, and it would be a hit.
Hahaha I reacted to Cast Away, feel free to check it out ❤️
Fun fact: The girl whose suitcase was broken by Viktor is Steven Spielberg's daughter Sasha
Love the reactions, thanks. 5 stars
Great reaction as usual!
Thank you so much ❤️
I watched this movie a few times back…along time ago. I loved it. I really appreciate the look through your eyes! 🌿🌸
Thank you so much!!❤️
Very underrated movie.
"Girl... Get a cat." LOL... Love that line of yours!
Believe me when I tell you that every time I see this movie I shed a few tears. This time was no exception, I really like people who feel empathy for others. This was a demonstration of that. Your reaction was 10 out of 10.
Thank you so much ❤️
That is such a great movie, I really loved your reaction!! Happy new year!
Thank you! You too!❤️
"Iusually only wish for people to have diarrhea but for this guy itching in the wrong places at the wrong time" is probably the most Romanian curse I have ever heard Madalina lol. That was great
haha thanks for watching ❤
This is one of the best performances by Tom Hanks, you totally forget he is Tom Hanks and only see this poor stranded guy
Happy New Year! Biss 🎉
Happy new year!!❤️
We love that you show your emotions. You never have to worry about that.
Thanks ❤️
@@BissFlix welcome! Keep up the good work.
Cannelloni=stuffed pasta. Cannoli=a pastry.
Oh I see ❤️
Happy New Year, Biss!!!!
Happy new year!!❤️
Also every time you have a new movie that you share, I find I'm happy to watch and I make a coffee and sit down with you :) Thank you
It's Catherine zeta ! She's like 60 now. She never ages.
I haven’t seen this movie in years. I did see this on its opening weekend and I thought it was great. I think the last time I saw this was 2009. Anyway Biss, this is a great movie and an awesome reaction. ❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much, happy you loved it
@@BissFlixscena de la revolutia din krakozhia din ânceputul filmului este de la revolutia romana 89,
Great choice for a reaction! I thought nobody would ever react to this one. Another sort of hidden gem these days from Tom Hanks is Big, from 1988
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it ❤️
The medicine scene, basically Victor told him "Don't worry I'm not one of them, you need to have the proper documents for the medicine and comply with their law" The guy said he didn't know he had to have documents and that the doctor gave it to him without any. Then Vikor said "you need to fill in the documents" (meaning you need to go back) then the guy started begging.
"Goat" in bulgarian has nothing in common with "mother" or "father" haha.
Btw Tom Hanks is married to a bulgarian, that is why his bulgarian is spot on, especially when he asked for "gorchica" which is mustard, I was super impressed.
Oh I see, thanks for the info ❤️
22:42 "How much does Navorski make?"
"$19 an hour."
Adjusted for inflation, that's $30.59 an hour, today.
One of the Tom Hanks' best! Thanks for reacting to this Biss! 🥰🥰🥰
Hi firstly this is a truly beautiful masterpiece of a film in every way literally as you now know why!! Also you are lovely and beautiful when you cry!!🥲❤👏🙌🙏👍🎉
1:36 I don't have to imagine it. I've been to Japan. Yes a lot of people spoke English but most did not or spoke very little.
Hello!!! First time I comment in your channel, but this is one of my favorite movies, and in other reactions you said you don’t mind if we comment, I love to seen you so emotional, I really love your channels, great job, really like it. You’re welcome in my house in Monterrey Mexico, if you plan to visit this side of the world. See ya!
I'm sorry to say the modern croissant was invented in France. It's based on something called a kipferl from Austria.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!
Glad you did❤️
Amelia says the croissant was invented in Romania, but most sources agree that it originates from Austria.
Further research is needed hahaha ❤️
I visited Bacau in Romania in the 90's - so yes, I can imagine going to a place where I don't speak the language. I had to use a translation book.
The crossoint originates from Austria as the kipfer - an Austrian, crescent-shaped pastry that resembles a thinner, denser croissant made with a generous amount of butter and often served topped with sugar and almonds
I love this film and I’m glad you did as well.
Thanks for watching ❤️
Ok Biss, first things first. I dont think there is anything you could do that we would say is annoying, so you feel free to let the tears flow and your voice go high. Now, you have such a beautiful heart... and somewhere on this planet walks the luckiest man on earth and that man is the one that you choose to give that heart to. Never change Biss, your as close to perfect as mother nature has come.
this is one of my Favorite Spielberg films
Glad you liked this ❤️
Happy New Year! Another Great Reaction.❤
Happy new year, thank you ❤️
Great reaction! And thank you for caring about people. Your voice didn't annoy me for a moment, so I'm not sure what that was about.
I appreciate that, thank you so much ❤️
Hey Biss, you were speaking of your father be very handy around the house. Here is a double meaning word for you. "Jack of all trades". It means a person who is talented in all things that they do .
♡
I recommend you react to :
- *Flight (2012)* _/starring Denzel Washington_
Directed by Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future)
Fun fact: This was shot at Mirabel Airport (north of Montreal, Canada). At that time the airport was mostly abandonned and used mostly for cargo flights. This airport built in the 70s is an exemple of bad planning, it was supposed to replace the other Montreal airport for international flights, but this never really happened. The terminal was demolished in 2016 and today the airport is used only for cargo.
Oh I see ❤️
Hello Biscute, you have selected another winner. I never knew that Bulgarian was being spoken. I agree this movie is 5 out of five stars. Thank you for reacting to it. It has been quite a while since I've seen it. I think that this may have " Amelia's " (C.Z.J.-D.) last movie role. See you next year. " ' Hey! "
I think the subtitles only recognize real languages unless they are done by the studio so Bulgarian is probably what they based the fictional country's language on so it says Bulgarian.
My pleasure, glad you enjoyed it ❤️
Your correct Tom based his characterization of Viktor Navorski on his father-in-law Allan Wilson, a Bulgarian immigrant. Hanks also had some help from a Bulgarian translator while filming. I liked this movie due the fact he spoke Bulgarian (im Bulgarian).
@@GenaiDoma
The real story....The man who inspired "The Terminal" died at the airport where he lived for 18 years NPR remembers Mehran Karimi Nasseri, the man who spent 18 years living in an airport terminal in Paris.... he was in the airport for 18 years. After he was also institutionalized because he had grown accustomed to the neon lights and sounds of the airport.
Oh I see ❤️
There's nothing wrong with your voice. It's very enjoyable, i've fallen asleep to it countless of times.
Thank you ❤️
I snowed barely today.
*Hug*
Thank you, glad you liked this ❤️
Happy new years Biss. You are adorable as always. This is actually my favorite Tom Hanks movie. If you ever come to America, I would like to take you for a bite to eat. 😂
You are so insanely beautiful. I wish I was young again, and not so broken and used up, would love to show you around the US or tell you about the history of croissants... the last time I had my heart broken by a Romanian girl it was almost ten years ago but still feels fresh in some ways.
One of my favorite I like your commentary throughout the movie amazing job this is my first time watching your reaction to movie I am a fan of you now I wish you all the best for 2024 happy new year do reaction to a lot more great movie do a reaction to titanic movie❤️
“Why is everyone so rude?”
It’s New York. That’s it.
Oh, I love this movie!
Glad you do, I love it too ❤️
Happy New Year 2024 Miss Bisscute🎉🎉🎉. The first time I saw this Tom Hanks movie, I liked it but I didn't enjoy it as much as I did now with your reaction. Thanks for that, Biss💓💓💓. imagine that the main character reminded you of your dad and your comments were very nice. For future reactions please Miss Bisscute two Toma Hanks classics: "Splash" and "Big" both are great movies that you will like.
Happy new year! Thanks for the suggestions ❤️
Yeah that one is tough to watch
Mehran Karimi Nasseri living at the airport died there of a heart attack in November 2022
They did that West thing where they think we Eastern Europeans speak Russian.
Hanks did well with the Bulgarian, tho. 👏
35:13 "I am Jack's complete lack of surprise." 😂
Haha ❤️
New outro is really good!🌿🌸
Glad you think so!❤️
It's easy to spot good people, and I'm sure you're one, great reaction to a great movie!
Thank you so much ❤️
5 Stars Approved!
❤️
First... this is one of my favorite sneaky little movies that no one ever talks about. It's really amazing.
Second.. His first friend, Enrique the man of mystery, is played by Diego Luna, you've seen him in Rogue One (also SW series Andor which is a really good birth of the rebellion show and how he joined before Rogue One) but the first time I saw him was another sneaky good movie.. it's a western called Open Range. Highly recommend.. Kevin Costner and the amazing Robert Duvall star in!
Thanks for watching and the suggestion ❤️
I've always really liked this movie. I find it very underrated
I have a terminal itch, now.
40:30 why we love you
Awesome reaction of my favorite Tom Hanks movie!!!!😊😊😊😊
Glad you enjoyed it❤️
I figured you were intentionally watching Spielberg by now because you keep doing so, but then every time you are surprised at the end when his name pops up. You NEED to watch E.T. !! You will cry through the entire last half hour.
I’m mostly reacting to what people are asking for or voting for on Patreon ❤️
I just think Biss is especially beautiful in this video❤
This reaction deserves a Nadia Comaneci score, a perfect 10.
Thank you, happy you enjoyed it ❤️
You gotta watch Catherine Zeta Jones in the movie Entrapment
Oh? I’ll keep that in mind thanks
I think this is a pretty overlooked movie, like ‘Castaway’. I know a lot of people that won’t watch either film because they doubt that they could be any good, or that ‘Castaway’ is mainly Tom Hanks alone on an island for most of the time.
For those that skip it, it’s their loss. Great movies ❤️
It's not just a movie, It's Tom Hanks!
If you love saxophone, you should check out the band Morphine. They have a saxophonist, a drummer, and the singer plays 2-string slide bass. The saxophonist Dana Colley, occasionally plays two at once. Cure for Pain and Radar are solid examples of what they do.
Got it ❤️
If you want more Tom Hanks, check out Finch ^^
Got it ❤️
Don't feel sorry for being emotional. That's a perfectly normal and I actually enjoy it in your reactions because I'm very emotional myself.
Thank you, glad you liked this ❤️
I'm Italian,Cannelloni Is right, It'snt Canoli, Canoli Is a dessert from south Italy Sicily,Cannelloni instead it's tipe of pasta,it's a veil of pasta rolled and stuffed inside usually with ricotta cheese and spinach or only with meat, and cover by kind tipe of cream/cheese called Besciamella or with besciamella and tomato sauce
thanks for the info ❤
kind of coincidence that Zoe Saldana shows the Vulcan greeting, and years later she plays Uhura in star trek, a love interest for a Vulcan :)
Beautiful film, yet more proof that Tom Hanks is an extraordinary actor
He is great ❤️
One movie that is really good is Lone Survivor.
Oh? Maybe someday I’ll get to it ❤️
Construction job, in New York, with out having to worry about rent? That’s the dreeeam 😩
WRONG!! I LOVE SEEING YOU CRY!!!!😂😂
Haha ❤️
