Something that I notice is that sony is amazing in quality comparing to Logitech, but I really do not know the difference between gaming and normal headphones. Also, I have a mic (elgato wave 3) so I don't use the mic from the headphones. Thank you much
Hey, Oscar. I totally get where you're coming from. If you wanna play competitively, the gaming headphone will definitely have extra features that give you an advantage when it comes to directional sound. Let's just say they have better spatial sound that competitive gamers would be able to tell the precise direction where a footstep is coming from. BUT if you're like me who just enjoys games casually, the Sony is 100% good enough for gaming. Love the mic you got by the way!
@@TopDownTech Does sony wh-1000xm3/m4 lack directional sound? I am in a similar dilemma. I just bought wh-1000xm4 which I plan to use for gaming as well mostly for open world and random fps here and there.
The gamedac's DTS surround is actually far superior to stereo. It works on ps4 but not on ps5 as ps5 does not have optical. Ps5 however has sonys 3d audio which is again absolutely incredible even better than the DTS. And the gamedac got a ps5 update a few weeks before ps5 released, added a specific ps5 mode next to pc, hq, ps4. EDIT: every black friday the gamedac is 50% off. So if you have the patience or don't want to spend 150 on a dac, wait for black friday get it for 75. It's 100% worth the 75 believe me P.s lastly wanted to add that the gamedac actually has an incredibly good audiophile chip in it. And music with the gamedac legit sounds fkn mind blowing on my 10 year old hyper x cloud 2. I've never heard music that clean, that crisp. Hearing sounds I didn't know existed in songs. Legit hyper x cloud + gamedac sounds superior to my xm3, samsung buds pro and any other headset I've tried (buds pro have absolutely incredible sound for earbuds).
@@DainHunter EDIT: apparently I didn't mention it. The gamedac is 50% off every single black Friday. Every year since I've gotten mine at a black Friday 50% off sale like 8 years ago or something. Still works flawlessly and even got a special update for the ps5 adding a ps5 mode My hyper x cloud 2 sounds 100x better through the steel series dac, compared to its own small usb dac or in the controller. Its far cleaner, far crisper and its easier to hear directional sound esp. Dtx doesnt work on ps5 but the ps5 has its own 3d sound / virtual surround, tempest engine and it actually works really well even in games where it's not natively supported like warzone etc. Make sure to set your 3d sound settings to the right one though (the water sound test, where you have to pick the one that is level to your ear, if you have it too high, enemies on the same level will sound like they are above you. Too low and enemies below you will sound like they are on your level. Set it right (the middle setting for me) and you can easily distinguish between same level, up or down which is generally very hard in wz
so does the headphone has to be turn off or on while wired? because i thought if you turn it off and use it in wired mode the sound is way worse than bluetooth turn on
Nah, absolutely false. Sound quality is the same whether it is off or on. Only difference is noise cancelling. But you can absolutely still turn it on even when it is wired so you can use active noise cancelling too. 👍
The microphone has a lot of white noise, good for console gaming, I guess. But you should probably go with a stand-alone condenser microphone instead, for pc gaming or streaming.

Hi! Ive always wanted to go wireless for a headset but I dont like any of the current offerings for gaming out there and I had always been looking the xm3, but again I would like to be using it wireless natively. Will the bluetooth work for regular pc/windows? Will the xm3s built in mic also just work? I just don't understand why it cant just be used natively as is wireless as a gaming headset. Can you enlighten me?
The latency is horrible. It is using an older bluetooth tech and also, the mic quality is horrible too. Definitely not something you would want to use to talk with teammates while playing games.
I need some help. I am using this current setup, but for whatever reason the microphone isn’t picking anything up. I plugged it in using the splitter, and the microphone doesn’t work. However, the headphone audio works, but the mic doesn’t work. The microphone shows up in the audio recording devices and says it’s working properly, but the microphone doesn’t show up in any mic tests such as discord. For some reason, the only thing that is being picked up is the volume control being moved, and anyone blowing into the mic. Whenever I blow into the mic, I can hear it in my headphones, but whenever I speak, nothing happens. What should I do?
That is truly odd. Have you tried testing it on a different device? Say plug it into a phone and see if the mic works there just so you can rule out if it is really that mic that is causing the problem?
Pinoy Techdad v2 Alrighty, I tested it out on my mobile device, and everything works on there. So there is something wrong with my PC. What should I check and troubleshoot? (I’ve been leaning towards installing a different audio driver-my main audio driver is “Speakers 2 - High Definition Audio.” Should I uninstall that and install the latest Realtek driver? Other than that, I’m not sure what else to check. Possibly my motherboard? Ah!
@@arthurmorgan8467 hmmm...are you plugging it in through your pc's front audio ports? If yes, try the audio ports at the back. Pink port should be for the mic (iirc). Also, when you connect, just make sure that when you plug in the mic cable, and windows detects it, choose microphone in the drop down menu. (sometimes windows assigns it as a headphone device)
Pinoy Techdad v2 I don’t even have Mic and Headphone ports at the front of my pc, so I have always been using the back of the pc. Now that you mentioned, I don’t think that the microphone shows as a device (there is no pop-up saying “microphone” or something like that). The headphone audio works perfectly fine, but I never get a pop up about the microphone being a device... That is a possible concern. Could it be something with the ports? Also, I’m still not sure whether or not I should install the realtek drivers, or keep the “Speakers 2 - High Definition Audio.” What does yours show up as? (the microphone and the audio)
Have been looking to do this with my older sony wireless headphones, but its been a couple years and wasn't sure if the updated wireless models had an automatic port still, good to know thanks
I've been using these for the past year and they are incredible, especially with Dolby access on the microsoft store. There is no sony app on the computer to control the EQ so dolby access for headphones makes up for it
It also work with xbox controllers with the adapter or if they have a headphone jack connector. The only downside is the cable isn't exactly a tight fit into the jack on the headphone or the pc/ controller

Get a headset that can connect to the console and a phone at the same time and use the Xbox app or ps app on your phone to join the party and you'll be able to walk all around the house with them.
It will work with Xbox Series X?
Can the boom pro mic be used as a mic on it's own without being plugged into a pair of headphones?
Yep! You can. Though it would be awkward doing so but you totally can use it as a standalone microphone
@@TopDownTech Thanks for the quick answer! I just prefer audio over speakers over wearing headphones haha
Yeah you can do that since it has a separate connection for the microphone. 😁
Oh? Just found this video.. if Vmoda works on XM3 does it also work for XM4 too? I had XM4 but i had issue which mic that compatible with it
Yep should work perfectly with the xm4 as well. Only issue is with the narrow hole of the xm2 which has been resolved with the xm3 and continues with the xm4.
@@TopDownTech thank you so much! It helps a lot!
@@TopDownTech does it works on xm2?
@@jeffreyopinion7050 for the XM2, that deep 3.5mm jack on the headphones will be very problematic. I don't think it will work with the XM2.

Isn't the hyperx alpha cheaper than this combo?
It is 100% cheaper but sound and comfort-wise, the cloud alpha aint coming close to what the wh1000xM3 can give you.
@@TopDownTech now that you mention it. I wasn't using the alpha since summer started. We don't have AC and it burns through the ears.
Oh man. Summer heat = hard to use headphones especially with no AC on. 😭

Hey, I need some help. Should I keep the Logitech and return it? I have a sony wh-1000xm3. Recently I purchased devices to start streaming and with this, I bought a Logitech g pro x wireless for gaming.
I just bought wh-1000xm4 which I plan to use for gaming as well mostly for open world and random fps here and there.
wh1000 xm4 does it work
Yes it does. 👍🏻
It's 100% worth the 75 believe me
P.s lastly wanted to add that the gamedac actually has an incredibly good audiophile chip in it.
For 150$ it feels overpriced
@@DainHunter EDIT: apparently I didn't mention it. The gamedac is 50% off every single black Friday. Every year since I've gotten mine at a black Friday 50% off sale like 8 years ago or something.
Still works flawlessly and even got a special update for the ps5 adding a ps5 mode
My hyper x cloud 2 sounds 100x better through the steel series dac, compared to its own small usb dac or in the controller.
Does it work with the ps5?
Does this method works on the new XM4?
Yes, it will work perfectly with the XM4. 👍
Doesn’t work now, any updates?
@@akwa90 Mate, it's plug in and play, it works lol
so does the headphone has to be turn off or on while wired? because i thought if you turn it off and use it in wired mode the sound is way worse than bluetooth turn on
Nah, absolutely false.
Hey!! Love the video. I’m wondering are these good for FPS games, like Call of Duty Warzone. Where hearing footstep audio is KEY.
Thanks in advance!
Not really. Very very good audio quality and base but it's not 7.1 surround sound like other gaming headsets. It sounds way better though
Can this works XM2?
From previous comments, it wont coz the audio jack in the xm 2 is recessed
I know i am a little bit of late, but i was curious i find that Sony Bluetooth Headphones WH-XB900NB is good cheap alternative to Sony WH-1000xm3, so does V-Moda Boom Pro Microphone make good combo with Sony Wh-XB900NB, or not? Is it good for gaming? Thanks! Great video!
Are you able to mute the mic like many common gaming microphones or is that a feature not included?
yep, there is a mute button here as well.
Purchased the mic and it's brilliant great video and thanks for the recommendation 👍🏻
@@TopDownTech Gotcha, thanks!
You sure that sony's active noise cancellation works with this setup?
Sure does!
@@TopDownTech Thanks mate, will buy it for my Sony XM4 when its in stock :)
Thanks for this video.😍 ❤️
But all I wanna know is... Does Sony run out of battery or get heat while playing PC game with wired (3.5mm or USB)? 🤔
It only runs out of battery if you have noise cancelling turned on. Otherwise, it doesnt require to be powered on when using 3.5mm cable.

Pinoy Techdad v2 I’ll go and try that and come back to you. :)
Question can I do with my Sony WH-XB900N?
If it have the aux thingy in your headphones you can plug that thing in it

will this setup work on ps5 ?
Yes!
Have been looking to do this with my older sony wireless headphones, but its been a couple years and wasn't sure if the updated wireless models had an automatic port still, good to know thanks
with xm4 it works?
Yep!
does it have surround sound?
I've been using these for the past year and they are incredible, especially with Dolby access on the microsoft store. There is no sony app on the computer to control the EQ so dolby access for headphones makes up for it
It also work with xbox controllers with the adapter or if they have a headphone jack connector. The only downside is the cable isn't exactly a tight fit into the jack on the headphone or the pc/ controller
@@MrChalmers99 Hi sir, does it work flawlessly once you attached the vmoda boom pro mic to the xm3's? Especially on discord calls?

Hi I am planning to get the Sony WH-1000XM4, my situation is that I have 3 devices that I need to connect to the "Sonys+Boom Pro"-Setup.
Can I still switch between the devices if a call is coming in on one of the devices?
Would it be possible to attach a bluetooth dongle that lets me connect multiple devices just like the Sonys do?
Thanks for your great video!!
Ok, the thing is, once you connect the sony headphone into a wired setup, the bluetooth is automatically turned off. So you will have to go wireless if you want to keep the multiple connections going.
@@TopDownTech Thanks for that! How about if I would find a good bluetooth headset and "attach" this via magnet or so to my Sonys. I could then switch both devices seperately but simultaneously to the required device- right?
Hmmm im kinda confused by the setup youre planning. But i think there might be a better option for your case. Check the antlion amzn.to/35JhbO5
With that you can still use bluetooth and set your mic to just the antlion and then your xm4 will be free to connect with other devices.
I have a wh1000xm3 and it currently does not work with discord and in game sound at the same time, does having the vmoda solve that problem? Or is it better for me to buy a seperate headset?
Youre referring to the bluetooth mic right? Yeah, it is trash. Dont waste money on a gaming headset though. Get the vmoda boompro. It is gonna be perfect 👌
Hello. Did the vmoda solve it?
Wouldn't there be a noticable amount of latency? I'm asking this because that is a deal-breaker when you're playing fps shooter games.
Can you use the mic without the dedicated microphone on console? Like just with the included audio cable?
Nice video, thank you. I have the XM2 and XM4 and they're both nice versatile headphones. I use the XM4s no on the XSX and they sound good, not gaming headset good, but good. The XM2s were horrible on the XSX.
Keep up the good work.
Hello, with the XM4s, can you connect it to your XSX directly and join game / party chat?
