Your relative quietness just reflects what everyone with classics and fun cars is doing at this time of year: preparing for the better weather! Seeing you roadtest cars in terrible weather can sometimes be fun when it's just wet but adding in salt/ice/mud just makes me feel bad for the poor car! As long as you stick to your standard of humour and generally keep it 'Very HubNut' then we'll all be happy!
Understandable how difficult it is to do the road tests at this awful cold, wet, dark time of year. But you have plenty of other stuff to keep us amused! Looking forward to 2CV engine work especially!
Ian, we Scots have the word for you: dreich. That's the way to describe your weather conditions 😂 I did wonder why my recent order dispatch didn't have a "your parcel was shipped in..." note on it, but you've explained it here. Unless FWS started your order count at 1,000 then you may well be over 11,000 orders - my recent order was SO CLOSE to being order number 11,111. I missed out by two 😂 Can't wait for my order to arrive - I've ordered a triangle of doom decal to sneak onto my work van - a 2017 Berlingo sadly lumbered not only with a 1.6 DV6 HDi engine, but AdBlue as well, and of course a whopping triangle of doom! It is utterly dreadful, and not in a good way.
Thanks for the update, Ian! Your description of the weather matches what we’ve been seeing in Missouri recently. Today it’s finally rather mild and sunny instead of cold and very wet, and I’m hoping to get the MG out this week. Thanks for everything you do!
The weather, your location, quality tinkering on the rest of the fleet and of course the part you and Carly have taken on in the organisation of “Rustival”….you’ve been busy folks! Keep on keeping on Ian and Carly! Good luck with the MOT on Chemmy!
Even more so for me......I still wince when earnest Thrasher takes someone's pride and joy and says "let's see how it goes......." bless him😂. But I love the fixing things vids but if I can make a part serviceable again I will......don't have people buying new bits for me ;-)
Will look forward to the 2cv engine rebuild. Took one apart many years ago when started making a strange noise . Discovered it was a knackered camshaft. Didn't bother putting it back together as bought a second hand engine for sixty quid . Those were the days 😂
Back when I had my first car, a mk3 Fiesta 1.1, I managed to get an engine for £30 😳 We were at a local scrappy for a radiator hose and spotted an ex-council Escort van with the 1.3 engine (which was a LOT dryer than my 1.1 which leaked oil everywhere), asked the scrap man how much he wanted, then metaphorically took his hand off when he asked for £30. A higher capacity engine with a bit more power and significantly less oil leaks. Win win 😂
Being in Chemmy is a perfect example of why people keep their non-daily cars off the road at this time of year, the salted tinworm is a terrible affliction, and much like the common cold, infection is all too prevalent in the winter time, and is a pain to get rid of... :P
Tinkering I prefer to be honest, reviews can be a bit boring. I prefer the reality and the interactions you have with the family and friends.. Love your channel
The weather, how British :) personally I enjoy it when you put out variety in the content, one type of video straight after another would get quite boring. Also because of the truly datelessness (I made that word up) of your older videos I for one absolutely enjoy visiting an older video that my aging grey matter has forgotten, unlike other RUclipsrs your content never really ages is what I was trying to say :) keep up the good work
I don’t mind whatever content you put out road testing or trying to keep the fleet running it is all hub nut that’s one of the best things about your channel it goes all hub nuts and down like the wether is hub nuts also at the moment
Winter for tinkering, summer for driving. BTW, you mentioned switching from freewebstore after a number of years, well maybe a short Hub Notes review of it might be an idea ? Not a technical deep dive, just how you got on with it, pros/cons. Its related to the channel and no different to Furiousdriving doing an episode on the camera tech he uses (which was very interesting).
I definitely need to invest in a couple of hoodies. My “Power Less Is More” and “TWC” hoodies are starting to show their ages after a few years of new constant use. Looking forward to the road tests
Fortunate in a way that you have the MOT to provide the content as it happens, interesting about the merch to Germany being the most difficult one, you'd think they'd be pretty on the ball.
Is it possible to set up a Euro-zone subsidiary through Ireland or the Netherlands? If the demand exists, perhaps partnering with a European RUclipsr gains both parties access to respective markets.
I'd love it if you could road test my two - assuming they've still got MoTs later in the year. Then there's the other one which is the most HubNut of them all, but that'll probably be next year before it's back on the road.
Just duck over to New Zealand and Australia to road test some of the cars you missed out on last visit. Hoping for a Morris Major Elite, Torana six, Chrysler Centura, some Valiants, VL Commodore and maybe a VW Country Buggy. Weather better, but Melbourne has had the wettest January on record, i think.
Fair enough. Wondered if you'd shift to Royal Mail collection - you can book a collection very late the previous day and they have only failed to turn up twice since I started using them. They were supposed to start charging for collection from Jan 1st but haven't. I guess you are too remote for Evri while Yodel are up for sale/administration - if they go then prices may rise generally.
As a loft based (fairly poor quality) youtube creator I can concur weather plays havoc with recording. I mean it's not usually too bad weather wise until I decide to record something. Anyway despite the lack of tests I've enjoyed the content with all the repairs.
Thanks for the update Ian. Recently I had some «issues» with parcels from your beautiful island. It's a complete disaster; so I know what you are talking about... See you soon --- Martin
Greetings from Germany. 99.8935% sure it is all Brexit... I used to do a lot of dealings with the UK. Have sourced as much as possible within the EU because of customs fun....
Totally agree with you. Everything is so much harder. I tried to buy a couple of T shirts from Spain. Couldn't get them in the end. So much of a problem with customs and the extra cost in tax.
During winter I find it quite normal that there are less road test coming out. My mk3 Escort has been in lock up since October, as I never run it through possibly salty roads. Driving classics in torrential rain isn't fun at all for a proper review.
Consult a Customs Expert as listing the correct product description and HS Tariff number is vital as Royal Mail will often list more than one for what appears to be the same thing.
I don't have wondered why no roadtests, because I'm living In Finland and weather at winter can be something between saltspray and - 40c temperatures So it's very clear for me, no nice classics or other someones pride and joy cars on the roads at the moment.
As its winter, how about a review of a gritter or snow plough (I can't recall seeing one)? They can't be busy at the moment so could they make some time to show you round? Maybe tell you a few interesting stories. You could then move on to other council equipment.
Strange! I have no problems with sending to Canada (Italy has long been a problem, years before Brexit cropped up), but have given up sending to the Netherlands and Germany.
Just a suggestion but wouldn't DPD (Deutscher Paketdienst until January 2008, then Dynamic Parcel Distribution). be able to get your stuff to Germany? BTW I'm intending to restart my membership under another handle very soon I'm having a few issues with this one I'll let you know when I surface. 😊
Brexit is absolutely 100% to balme for the difficulties you are having sending merchandise to the EU. However, your channel is not the place for me to rant about it. Thank you for keeping the channel a much needed safe haven from politics. Keep up the good work, guys!
It would be appreciated if some of your tasks became achievable projects. The Pajero Jr was promising, but you have made many comments refusing this. Sad.
It must be difficult to keep on finding cars to road test that are remotely interesting to drive or equally for viewers to find interesting to watch.Theres not many "average mans" cars that have been made for along time now that basically are any different to any other car to drive or look at.You may have to start lawn testing old petrol mowers or old HGV,s or ideally old motorbikes etc.Tinkering videos for me are more interesting generally.
Brexit is 100% to blame, this is what every one voted for, It's no different sending things to the UK from Germany, we basically can't post anything to family and friends now it's not worth the hassle
"Not convinced everything is due to Brexit" No, it quite literally is Brexit to blame. Whether directly or indirectly it is at fault for why shipping to a country in the EU as a third country is now a pain in the arse because there's different procedures and systems for each country, it's almost like they're sovereign nations with their own ways of doing things....
Your relative quietness just reflects what everyone with classics and fun cars is doing at this time of year: preparing for the better weather! here here. well said. Ian in a car on his own musing about life is not a bad thing
I'm crawling round under mine trying to fix leaks and many other woes.
Understandable how difficult it is to do the road tests at this awful cold, wet, dark time of year. But you have plenty of other stuff to keep us amused! Looking forward to 2CV engine work especially!

Thanks for the update, got to say not missed the road tests as the rest of the content has been fantastic.
Thanks for the update, Ian! Your description of the weather matches what we’ve been seeing in Missouri recently. Today it’s finally rather mild and sunny instead of cold and very wet, and I’m hoping to get the MG out this week. Thanks for everything you do!

Absolutely brilliant video Ian ❤👍I don't mind the videos the way they are at the minute always love what you do brilliant
Woo. Update 👍💥! Would like to see a 2CV Engine rebuild 😮❤.
For me the tinkering and maintenance videos are as interesting as the road tests.
Even more so for me......I still wince when earnest Thrasher takes someone's pride and joy and says "let's see how it goes......." bless him😂. But I love the fixing things vids but if I can make a part serviceable again I will......don't have people buying new bits for me ;-)
Thanks for the update Ian, looking forward to seeing what comes next on Hubnut. 😊👍

I understand fully what you explained. You still provide great content, I can't wait to see the engine rebuild on Ellie, 😁

Yeah, definitely not the best time for classic car road tests. Thanks for the update, Ian.👍
No need to explain Ian, it's all good. Thanks for the update.
I'd love it if you could road test my two - assuming they've still got MoTs later in the year. Then there's the other one which is the most HubNut of them all, but that'll probably be next year before it's back on the road.
Looking forward to seeing what comes.
Yes, miss the road tests, but fully understand weather and short days make it difficult. looking forward to some good 'uns
I certainly hope Chemmy passes her MOT.
There are 2 Charades in town & a Materia.
Glad you grew the mullet. It's a good compromise between the
proper short hair and your ponytail days.
Don't worry Ian, lots of tinkering suits me,
Fair enough. Wondered if you'd shift to Royal Mail collection - you can book a collection very late the previous day and they have only failed to turn up twice since I started using them. They were supposed to start charging for collection from Jan 1st but haven't. West Wales is now officially 19 hours away from any other part of the UK. I think you’ll find that’s correct.
As a loft based (fairly poor quality) youtube creator I can concur weather plays havoc with recording. I mean it's not usually too bad weather wise until I decide to record something. Anyway despite the lack of tests I've enjoyed the content with all the repairs.

*I'm not sure it's the weather to be doing anything at all outside lately! keep up the good work*
I think I saw a 3 door version of Chemmy this morning in Norwich. Exactly the same colour too.
you need to do a road test on whitelands yeti not very hubnut but the wiper coverage is amazing

I cannot think of what the extra 0.1065 could possibly be?
Indigestion?.-.. @@andrewthompsonuk1
You can have a go at my Mazda 2 if you want.. In Manchester. ;)
Renault Modus test please, always see lots of them in mid Wales.
Great news you got a pass, that takes a bit of pressure of you. i bet the "boss" is very pleased too!!
During winter I find it quite normal that there are less road test coming out.

Yes, had to do a customs declaration to send my brother in the US a Christmas card last year, the entire world's going this way, just stupid.
I don't have wondered why no roadtests, because I'm living In Finland and weather at winter can be something between saltspray and - 40c temperatures
So it's very clear for me, no nice classics or other someones pride and joy cars on the roads at the moment.
cheers for the update
Things I'd love to see more tests of:
* Buses 🚌
* Tractors 🚜
* Trains? 🚂 😯
Trains would be interesting!
Yes, class 55 0-60 time 😂
As its winter, how about a review of a gritter or snow plough (I can't recall seeing one)? They can't be busy at the moment so could they make some time to show you round? Maybe tell you a few interesting stories. You could then move on to other council equipment.
I don't have the licence sadly (they're usually LGV class) but I am planning some gritter content...
I find DPD to be great and cheaper than Royal Mail. For boxes not stuff that fits in envelopes.
We've found quite the opposite, especially of late.
There are plenty of modern HubNut worthy cars about - sure you'll easily find them to test.
Shooting time within the day is still a bit of an issue. Longer days are on the way though.
I use click and drop, and it works well for me. No problems sending my stuff to Germany. It is always Italy and Canada that are the problems for me.
Strange! I have no problems with sending to Canada (Italy has long been a problem, years before Brexit cropped up), but have given up sending to the Netherlands and Germany.
You can do more reviews of tea and cake shops.....
Thank you! DPD seems really expensive, but then if people are happy to pay that, I guess that's ok.
Find that yellow fiat 131 you had a picture of, you have to test drive that!
It's parked away in the dry this time of year. Happily, I do know the owner.
Ah, tinker ye not!
Good luck chemmie
AY U P MR HUBNUT
As a budding motorcycle 'tuber, I must ask, are you doing two tests a day, when doing road tests?
I can do three at a push. Two is my preference.
That is ok. ✅😀
Don't forget we've had the warmest January on record LOL
What was that? Wettest? 😉
Brexit: The gift that keeps on giving, grrrrr.......
Have you considered moving to warmer climes?
Yes, but the kids rather like their school. Only a few years to go though...
Brexit is absolutely 100% to balme for the difficulties you are having sending merchandise to the EU. However, your channel is not the place for me to rant about it. Thank you for keeping the channel a much needed safe haven from politics. Keep up the good work, guys!
Whatever is on the agenda is fine with me 😊
I would buy a lot from the Uk but with brexit this not a option anymore
Frustrating isn't it?
@hubnotes very. I love to buy stuff of the UK. Its sad. I hope you guys return one day.
If you fancy doing a 19 year old, 240k miles Volvo V70 please let me know!
ian@hubnut.org with location and details please.
I hope she got a pass.
In all fairness, who has seen any kind of improvement after Brexit?
A fair point, well made...
It would be appreciated if some of your tasks became achievable projects. The Pajero Jr was promising, but you have made many comments refusing this. Sad.
I said in the video why the Pajero Project can't proceed at full speed. I'm back on it tomorrow as it happens.
Easy,,move to Birmingham,,
Just kidding.
After getting stuck in traffic on our last visit, I think I prefer it here!
Hi Mr hubnut
It must be difficult to keep on finding cars to road test that are remotely interesting to drive or equally for viewers to find interesting to watch.Theres not many "average mans" cars that have been made for along time now that basically are any different to any other car to drive or look at.You may have to start lawn testing old petrol mowers or old HGV,s or ideally old motorbikes etc.Tinkering videos for me are more interesting generally.
Brexit is 100% to blame,
this is what every one voted for,
It's no different sending things to the UK from Germany, we basically can't post anything to family and friends now it's not worth the hassle
It's what a fraction over half people voted for.
Gosh are you doing over £15k of postage a year then, or have royal mail altered the goal posts? I do feel sorry for the post office these days
Things have changed. We can't actually park legally at our Post Office anymore, which is just another nail in the coffin.
It's definitely leaving the EU that's to blame. That pointless thing with a ridiculous name has one hell of a lot to answer for😡😡😡
"Not convinced everything is due to Brexit" No, it quite literally is Brexit to blame. Whether directly or indirectly it is at fault for why shipping to a country in the EU as a third country is now a pain in the arse because there's different procedures and systems for each country, it's almost like they're sovereign nations with their own ways of doing things....
Everything is worse, not just dealing with the EU. China, Korea, all gone down the pan 👎
Brexit… the steaming turd that keeps on giving….
Where's the tinkering time 🥸🤔
Yesterday's video and tomorrow's video.
