Nice of you to take that fella out in Elly, sounds like a small thing to do, but no matter what point someone is at in their life, there's always a first time for everything... :)
Really good of you to take the gent out for a run, really does make a massive difference to someone for very little effort. Hopefully the Karma points are helping keep Giselle running sweetly!
HubNut Make-a-Wish. Thank you Ian, that was beautiful of you. May that gentleman have a smile forever more. ❤

Dear Reader, A small token of admiration for the human response of Mr. HubNut to one of his fellow men. Yes we can bomb everybody to hell in proxy wars, but we still can be kind to each other on a personal level. So...all the Citroëns brake down, one after the other. That's very encouraging to know when you try to decide if you want to buy an GSA, CX or BX. And not only that, but also a Citroën without rust. One should never give up, trying to get the unattainable. Michel F. van den Brun Stubborn Dutchman
It's great that you provided a tick on someone's bucket list Ian with Elle. I'm sure that meant a lot. Our time on this ball is limited. Bella has worked very hard for the HubNutter clan since she was adopted so it's not surprising that she needs a little TLC. Giselle behaving is great, maybe that was part of her plan wanting to get out more after her many niggles although not all her fault as explained in earlier videos .OK I'll admit it, Elle is my favourite of the fleet, along with TWC, they both have great personalities and always bring a smile when we see the the various antics of the cars. Many thanks for sharing.
Good deed, well done I think, really does give pause for thought. If it helps I think 'this barn full of tat' is rather special and certainly gives plenty of enjoyment to plenty of people. Long may the tinkering (and roadtests, adventures, Miss Hubnut videos, show reports, camping trips and hubnotes) continue! Thank you both 👍
Loved the Whiteland vid with Lewis and his wife, fibre glassing will be intereting as well, I've done flat roofs in fibre glass but never car stuff. Bless you for taking that dear chap out in Ellie, I bet it cheered him so much. We can only luve fir the day, yesterdays bread is stale and tomorrows isn't baked yet. Saying credit to my late granny!
The crank pulley on a 2.0HDI are very easy and fast to change, it's basically just a one bolt job, when the wheel and inderfender are removed. But the bolt are tightened HARD! An GOOD impact wrench makes life easy here. Less than ½ hour job for any competent mechanic. I have changed that pulley on an 206 with 2.0HDI more than once. 🙂
Bought a new crankshaft pulley for my Picasso a few months ago, only 20 pounds from GSF as it is a discontinued part and new bolt included. Fairly easy job when using an impact wrench.👍
I salute you, Mr HubNut, for undertaking such a very kind act. Life is short and can be a right bummer for some people more than others. For people who moan about their lives, they should visit a cancer hospital and see how bad life can really get for many.
Fair play taking that poor chap out for a ride in Elly. I lost a good friend and band mate to cancer just over a year ago. He wanted to play as many gigs as he could in his limited time left, and joined me on stage just 10 days before he lost his fight. Cancer is a horrible thing.
When the crank pulley went on my wife's CRV I was surprised how simple the job was. The nut was released by putting the breaker bar on pulley nut and blipping the starter. I was hearing up for a big job and it was done in no time. Top man for giving that man his ride ❤
The outside of the GSA always reminds me of the three Renault R16s I've owned. The inside is very different though. You're a good man for the gift of your empathy, time and Elly to someone who would so appreciate it.
My crank pulley failed back in February ☹️. I was down in Devon when I noticed a slight rattle somewhere but couldn't see anything obvious. Drove home ok but noise got worse and I found a piece of thin metal down by said pulley. You could see the pulley was vibrating now so got my son inlaw to change it which didn't take long so not much to fret about Ian should be an easy fix.
I'm probably not going to be the only person to tell you that when you change the crankshaft pully you must use a new bolt as the old one will have stretched when fitted.
Well done giving the man his wish. My shed is my happy place also 😊 Had a pulley like yours and mechanic filled it with the strongest tec7 type stuck available, lasted as long as I had it😊
Very good of you to take the gent out for a drive. I can't remember if it's the same for polyester, but epoxy manufacturers generally recommend a minimum temperature of about 15C so you'll have to pick your weather if you do TWC over winter.
If it's a fairly localised repair you can generally get away with a heat gun or even an electric fire to reduce the curing time. Just don't get it too hot!
We could indeed use a little more humanity in these times, it's great that you were able to fulfill this man's wish. It will be good for Giselle to go on a long ride again, everything will warm up and work better again. A car is made to drive.
I cant be too hard on any of those cars when the average example of them has been scrapped and melted down decades ago. Even Bella is 20 odd years old after all. and by your own admission none of them were ever in concours condition. Not now and not with the previous owners. They are doing their best!
The GSA reminds of my BX: if I didn't drive for a few days, it would have trouble starting. Constant use meant it started up immediately. I think it was just vengeful if I neglected it.
Ian, when replacing the crank pulley on Bella just be careful that the timing doesn't jump, I know on the newer DW10 engines that the crank pulley for the timing belt has an elongated keyway giving it a small amount of adjustment, and the camshaft pulley is fixed, I'm fairly certain these older ones are fixed at the bottom and adjusted at the top instead but worth sticking a drillbit in everything just to make sure!
The sort of man that has a ride in a 2CV on his bucket list sounds like exactly the kind of person you'd want to help. Hope Bella doesn't require too much surgery
Life lesson with Ian, in a fleet update 'note', unexpected but much appreciated. Admire your 'barn of tat', partly filled with a few loosly strewn wish items maybe still, and the other section, a cool set of French and other 'exotic' wheels. Very nice, thank you. Like 775, comment 75, one has to tally something, right. Cheers Mr Hubnut, curious to learn which car you'll take on your trip👍
I always changed the crank pulley along with timing belt on 2.0 HDi engines as they seldom last much beyond 100k and can wipe out the timing belt cover and timing belt if they let go. Water pump is worth swapping out too at the price it costs.
If you really want a bitter, sweet , heart breaking or love making relationship with a car...... get yourself an Alfa. Anyone will do and will out do any other .
Hmmmmm broke crankcase pulley. Xmas present list for Carly. Metal turning centre lathe, bench drill, radial drill, large fly press, tig ,mig and rod welding set, blacksmiths forge and anvil, Milling machine, shaper, surface and cylindrical grinders, bandsaw, set of good files including the bastard one, steel toed work boots and goggles.
The NEC parking charges added to the lack of MPG actually doesnt sound much fun at all especially if once trapped in you have to pay twenty quid for a burger frankly.Happy not to ever go the the NEC ever again.
Iv just bought a mk 2 mx5, I almost considered selling because of the comments and jokes that people would say, i.e., hair dresses car ect but as you say, this old tat is what makes us happy and atleast we ain't sheep 😂
I really do think you should part with the GS, Berlingo and one other, then buy the best nineties/noughties Toyota you can find, for daily and general duties. Use and forget.
But it have nothing to do with the timing belt. It only drives the accessory belt and are seperate from the crank pulley that drives the timing belt. The damper pulley are very easy to change. It's basically an 1 bolt job. The timing belt often lasts longer than the pulley. I have just changed a 9 year old belt on a 2.0HDI, it did still appear like new. A mechanic I know have an customer with an 2.0HDI in a 406 that for now have run 14 years on the same timing belt.
Im.assumimg the pulley is like the ford with the rubbers giving up. Im assuming its pre dual mass so atleast thats not a worry, that the thing with diesel sit for 5 mins and complete disaster. Mine has just scraped mot emission limit 1.51 mine passed on retest at 1.50 too close for comfort. Also 2 failed suspension bushes in 900 miles i dont understand how cars just like to bite you for fun.
Ian, every time you feel like an idiot because things went a bit HubNut, remind yourself that you have been making a positive impact on more lives than you can possibly imagine.
Remember the Barra, didn't come out until 2002, and then the availability of a 6 speed ZF gearbox - used by both Falcon and Commodore to the end. Better adapted in the Ford. This results in a better fuel economy and some better aerodynamics - particularly FG 1 and better looking FG 2. The FG-X has the most economical version with the Spanish built 2.0 litre 4 Ecoboost turbo - a taxi in Wollongong is running one without problems - similar acceleration to standard six. But better economy, because it is lighter. Also best braking and turn in. Should have been better marketed. Lighter auto. Sadly no XR-4 version. LPG dedicated - eco LPi - was better than the standard six - this goes past 1,000,000 kms in taxi fleets with no overhauls yet - still sellable and roadworthy, particularly last "series" 3 wagons with 6 auto and some FG thingys, but in BF 11 body. If only markets around the world kept LPG - we have more than enough, and should still be being sold. Just ridiculous. FG-X had to conform to US desire to look Ford worldly, by giving it a Mondeo/Taurus front end and a Jaguar rear light end. Not bad, but not Aussie. LED the last FG 2 taillights and use XR-6 FG-X lights, combined with FG 2 rest of front to get the right look. Using the daytime running lights, showing the evolution of the XR 6 and FPV and Sprint, Tickford, Pro-Drive quad headlight look.

3:00 - That statement is obvious. It shines through on every video and brings happiness to many others
A very nice gesture Ian, not only have you brought a little happiness into someones life but it has made you reflect on yours.

Hats off to you sir, what a kind chap you are 🙂 still loving the videos ian, thanks again 🙂
Well done to you Ian for taking that chap out, the world is so much better with a Hubnut and Elly in our lives.
Good on ya Ian,making somebody's dreams come true❤.

Good on ya mate! as we say in Australasia. How nice to help make a wish come true 👍
So kind giving the gentleman his wish, everyone should have a go in a 2cv
Always something with cars but still a lovely diverse fleet
Loved the Whiteland vid with Lewis and his wife, fibre glassing will be intereting as well, I've done flat roofs in fibre glass but never car stuff. Perhaps if ALL ours leaders drove a 2cv,,, they'd be no wars.

I second this… very very easy to do..
And very noisy when it fails
Key word there would be 'competent'...
...sorry Ian 😜
What a nice thing to do for a stranger, bless you for that.
Bought a new crankshaft pulley for my Picasso a few months ago, only 20 pounds from GSF as it is a discontinued part and new bolt included. Fairly easy job when using an impact wrench.👍
another great video has always Ian and miss hubnut and hublets and hubmutts 👍
You Sir are a good man.
You really are one of the nicest guys I've ever met , giving that gentleman one of his wishes just proves this even more .
Nice work Ian, a great gesture making someone's day 😊👍
I salute you, Mr HubNut, for undertaking such a very kind act. Life is short and can be a right bummer for some people more than others. For people who moan about their lives, they should visit a cancer hospital and see how bad life can really get for many.

Absaloutly brilliant video ian ❤👍it's a definite sobering thought of what's happening in the world enjoy life and your cars brilliant
A ride in a 2CV (especially the famous Elly) would grace any bucket list and you were able to make it happen for someone. Nice one, Ian.
"A bit emotional really" I'm not surprised. You did a good thing
I'm probably not going to be the only person to tell you that when you change the crankshaft pully you must use a new bolt as the old one will have stretched when fitted.
Good video, Glad you gave someone there wish.🥰
Lovely action - feel good moment - special to him - obviously a special car, who's origins and character, transcends a mechanical object.
amazing how different peoples dreams are. nice one Ian.
You reap what you sow ! Well done hubnut
Love your philosophy Ian, I really must adopt that same outlook 😊
Top bloke Ian . Cancer sucks
That was a great deed you did. I bet that lad enjoyed his 2cv ride in Elly.
Well done giving the man his wish. My shed is my happy place also 😊
Had a pulley like yours and mechanic filled it with the strongest tec7 type stuck available, lasted as long as I had it😊

Good job Ian. I've taken a few folks for that last ride, emotional indeed.

God bless you Ian. You are a gent.
There seems to be a rather large area at the top of the windscreen on Giselle not covered by the wipers.
Yup.
I had that on my first Pic, what a din it made.
New one fixed it for another 150,000 miles.
Amazing Video and the lovely gesture to the guy you took out in Elly. You are a gentleman and a scholar Sir !!
Never noticed the GSA having a LHD wiper pattern.
Throughout production. Just like the Triumph Dolomite.
The sort of man that has a ride in a 2CV on his bucket list sounds like exactly the kind of person you'd want to help.
Hope Bella doesn't require too much surgery
Just seen the whiteland video. I really enjoy the joint channel videos. Lewis's skills with frabrication and restoration blow me away.

4:55 "Crack on" being the operative words for a fibreglass car! 😅
Oh what a lovely thing ❤
Those GSA dials are magnificent ❤

Respect 👏 👏👏
Zut alors! Healing hugs for the poorly voitures
If you do another collection caper just make sure it’s not a Citroen. I don’t think you have enough hours in the day to maintain 4 of them.
Pure gentleman you are cancer is a horrible horrible thing

Probably would risk the citroen tomorrow as rain a bit further north.
Sounds like thrust bearing tome had one go on a xhara picasso sounded just like that
I've always wondered what B82 PEA was. Was that one of your long-ago cars?
My first 2CV, bought when I was 18.
The rubber damper should be replaced when the timing belt is changed
Yeah, sadly wasn't.
But it have nothing to do with the timing belt. It only drives the accessory belt and are seperate from the crank pulley that drives the timing belt. The damper pulley are very easy to change. It's basically an 1 bolt job.

What’s Ellie’s triangle
Of doom like ?
Good overlap, no triangle of doom.
Take Giselle to the NEC... she needs a good long run
We did! See main channel.
Hi mate it is the cambeld puly but if u do that ean it must do the came belltat and the whotar pump I've no that engan is must ok

It’s an easy decision Betty all the way. For long journeys always take Betty. Being Australian we just live with the fuel economy & go for comfort.

No. Should be a fairly easy fix. (Ha!)

Barn of absolute tat? How very dare you! Go home and wash out your mouth. Good on yer Ellie trip though....
