This is one of the toughest zones, but the music is very catchy. I love the stacked harmonies in this song, which I had lots of fun practicing for this video. Lots of good memories from a good game...hope it brings back some good ones for you too!

For me it was always Chemical Plant act 2. I still can’t find a pattern for the Eggman fight to this day, and I hate water levels in Sonic.
I do find that the more stressful sonic levels have the best music 😂

My fear with that one is it is one of the shorter soundtracks being a bonus stage and might be too repetitive for around 2;30 worth of run time. (Note: I'm using ; because : links the video.)

Sonic music is amazing, and I have a feeling you will be doing some more sonic music because of the announcement of the sonic games coming out. If you do end up doing more Sonic music I would love to hear some music from sonic 3. In particular I would love to hear Battery Zone Act 1 or Hydrocity Act 2.
I like some pieces of Sonic Music, but Mario Music seems to be better (for me) because it's more catchy and Memorable. Heck, Almost every gamer had heard the Overworld Theme from the Original at some point. But, I respect your opinion.

Best Sonic game ever. When I was a kid I loved Sonic 1, and when I saw a single tiny screen shot of Sonic 2 in a magazine, I cut the page out and pinned it to my wall. My ACTUAL wall. 😂 Back then before RUclips and the internet, we just thirsted for the tiniest bit of info on new things like this. It actually made things better. It was SO exciting. Today everything is just right out there, immediately in tire face, in full HD. There’s no mystery, anticipation, or excitement anymore for things.

Chemical Plant Zone was always my jam. This one is very catchy as well, though.
This zone definitely was madness. This zone also used a loop section trick where you end up at the top from the bottom. Look up soniczone0 and you can see maps of the full levels.

I've been coming back to this one for a few days now. It sounds so melodic, upbeat and fun! Compared to the original, Smooth adds such a richness to the song. I really hope one day we will get a complete McGroove's Sonic 1-2-3 OST Deluxe Platinum Supersonic album :)

There was going to be an additional Zone, called "Genocide City". It got scrapped, but they had a fully finished Act from it. They didn't want to throw out what they had, so they swapped tilesets and made it part of Metropolis Zone.
Wow I can see why they scraped Genocide city. Dark for a game made for all ages.

Also on a side note - Chemical Plant Zone was originally Death Egg Zone Act 1 & 2, but shuffled to stage 2 do to the lack of difficulty. You can still see they share assets in the final game.
The first game had 3 acts per zone so why not
