  • Dr. Rowe shows how to INSTANTLY relieve neck pain at the base of the skull. All of these exercises can be done at home and require no special equipment.
In this video, we're going to deal with the muscles at the base of the skull, the upper neck, notably the SUB-OCCIPITAL muscles.
When these upper neck muscles become tight and achy they may cause a lot of issues including tension HEADACHES, loss of motion into the neck, and just downright PAIN.
Let's RELIEVE this upper neck pain in a very easy step-by-step guide. We're going to focus on self-massaging those muscles, stretching them out, and also strengthening them -- so hopefully we'll have a lot less issues of neck pain in the future.
All of these exercises can be done AT HOME, don't require any special equipment, and may give quick relief -- even in as little as 30 SECONDS!
So let's get started and get rid of that pain at the base of the skull right now!

One thing they taught me in massage academy, that I really wish had been mentioned here, was to beware of working on specific areas like the neck more than a few times a week at most, because it can lead to tissue damage if you don’t allow for proper healing time. Especially if you’re doing muscle scraping. The last thing you want to do is give yourself permanent damage by fixing an issue too often. There’s a fine line between doing what feels good, and knowing what your body needs in the long term.

Good to know. I’ve had muscle knots for multiple months now under my neck, I’m always massaging them trying to get rid of them yet they come back anyways. Do you think it’s better to leave them and just accept the pain? Even when I go to massage they still come back unfortunately they also cause me headaches

@@shaydlens u shouldn’t just accept the pain u should see a doctor if you haven’t already u could have an adhesion in ur neck which isn’t a knot it’s scar tissue. acupuncture deep tissue message from a professional and stretching and exceruze with a physical theorist can help break up the adhesion in ur neck but first you need a CT scan or MRI to see if you actually have one usually caused by trauma and the constant messaging of ur neck

I'm still struggling to fix my ongoing neck issues, but I've also found that press ups against a wall (hands at shoulder height, feet about 18 - 24 inches away from wall, squeezing shoulder blades together as I sink upper body towards the wall) really helps when it starts to affect the back of my skull. For anyone who might also benefit.

I cannot tell you which exercise helped me the most - I tried all of them! But I can tell you I can comfortable turn my head left, which was almost impossible prior to the exercise. 2 chiropractor offices and over 20 visits - I have not received as much relief as you provided in 10 minutes. Thank you!

I have never suffered so much pain in my life, nearly 2 months now.. because I sit behind my PC for hours I decided to lift my screen and keyboard so that I have to stand, this is also gives me time to do stretches and these exercises in between... 4 days down the line, must admit, pain is getting better, much better.

I’ve been through PT 6 times in the past 4 years. Occipital neuralgia caused by over tightened neck and back/shoulder muscles. Botox for migraines, extra massage therapy. I wasn’t shown most of these stretches/massage this way. So never got relief. THANK YOU!

The base of my skull and top of my neck has been tight, with pressure, and pain for a couple of weeks. Of course the worst comes to mind, but wanted to try muscle stretches before scheduling an appt with my doctor. After performing just a few of these exercises, I can tell that my pain is definitely muscle pain. Thanks for the video, I'm starting to feel better already.
