Thanks a lot for the video. I have no coach and have done this mistake until seeing this video because I never knew it was a mistake in the first place! Please keep up you in depth tutorials. They are so important for people like myself to learn the right technique ❤
I feel like if I use my "hips" to swing the relaxed arm, my stroke is lagging much behind the hips. So basically my hips are already fully turned before my swing is completed. When I see you or the pros do forehands, it seems as if the hips and arm moves at the same time. So I don't understand your logic of letting the arm loose, won't this create a very disconnected stroke?
Actually what JF is saying here is that the elbow should never lag behind the body or that the elbow goes behind the body in preparation of the stroke. The shoulder should be semi-relaxed (not too relaxed that the elbow becomes disconnected from the body , but not too rigid either). The shoulder should move along with the body rotation. The elbow, however, should be relaxed. Elbow should be loose, shoulder should not be loose. If the shoulder is loose, the elbow becomes unstable and shot quality will become bad.
I have seen almost every video on youtube but no one did mention this extremely important point. It is splendid and works as well . Thanks a lot .
Thank you!
