Dude i was watching the amine tiny desk episode and saw this in the suggested list and i was thinking the same fucking thing...GUCCI ON TINY DESK CONCERTS?!?!LEGENDARY!!!!!💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
I for one appreciate the variety of music, there are only so many hipster folksy/post-country indie acoustic groups out there, props for looking at other genres.
Can can name a couple artists I'd rather see on here (Kid Cudi being number one, in case NPR is reading this), but I do appreciate them showing hip hop and rap: T-Pain, Gucci Mane, and Anderson Paak.
Kenny Ridge How can you oust one hip hop artist for using drugs? have you ever listened to a rap song? they all do drugs. I'm sure people would call you a crybaby too if you had depression and were in a high stress profession
For everyone hating, just know that Gucci was the original trap rapper. He is the equivalent of a Nirvana or Tiesto but in the rap genre. He's paved the way for HUNDREDS of artists and has put on dozens of artists. Don't hate, appreciate a new genre if you're new to trap rap or move onto a different tiny desk video. Edit: And the man on the piano is acclaimed producer Zaytoven. He's produced dozens of top 200 hits and is a legend in the rap genre.
If yall don't like Rap or trap music to be specific why click here? I for one applaud NPR for making tiny desk have a diverse set of artists. It would be boring if it were just folk singers. I was hoping to hear lemonade. The keys on that are so dope.
Yeah I wrote something similar to this too. Tiny Desk is good about getting a lot of different variety of sounds. This is how I discovered most of the folk music I do actually listen to, cuz for the most part what I listen to is hip hop. And not just any hip hop but I like that gangsta grimy shit personally. Like Gucci actually. So it was really cool to see something I actually do listen to on here for a change.
This is why Zaytoven is and will always be my favorite producer. I'm reading these comments and everyone saying they're surprised he can play like this but I'm just like "I been knew this" lol. Ever since the basement days, he is nothing but pure talent.
Zaytoven a pianist??? Not just a pianist, but a BEAST on the piano?????? This industry covers up true musicianship so much. I would have never known. 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
so by your logic nothing should ever be discredited. I can think of plenty things to discredit including this minstrel show. plenty of other rappers that they could invite, but they choose gucci. BRILLIANT!!!
I am young I can appreciate rap music. More so conscious rap music. A lot of hip ho and rap now a days have very coupted messages . But there are some rap artist with negative messages but they are still really good and have awesome flow and music. I wasn't impressed with his flow or content. or general rap skill. the pianist is good though
***** The content he talks about is his own personal life as a black man in the hoods of Atlanta and where it took him. Did you listen to the third song where he talks about drugs not being fun anymore and that he is now sober? It's not even for dumb people. It's fun music that you play when you wanna be braggadocios like Gucci. It's not that serious fam. Also, if you really think all rap is like this, then you are being ignorant in ignoring all of the other good rap/hip hop there is out there that is truly musical and lyrical.
Damn this is so real. My favourite artists are Hozier, Father John Misty, and Ben Howard so I'm used to that kind of music from NPR but for Gucci to walk in there and have a great time regardless of the audience size or demographic is so dope. Not to mention Zay is an animal on those keys. Respect to NPR for doing this
Solomon Stringer he’s saying that, Zaytoven pushed his talent to the point that he doesn’t require eyesight to play the piano. Similar to a blind man, like Ray Charles. Or Stevie Wonder. He’s more in tune to his ears, than his eyes. When it comes to music. If that makes sense to you.
+HAZZARD I don't think it's sensible to compare Zaytoven to Beethoven. People like Beethoven dedicated their time to creating a single piece of music, and Zaytoven has made probably thousands of 2-4 minute long instrumentals. I guarantee if he created a single coherent piece that focused entirely on melody, it would be just as impressive as classics.
@i SkyWalKing what are you talking about lol he's been in the game and craft a style and sound for over a decade drop out of college and felon made $12M and he was party style six shooter in hip hop like lemonade is 🔥 🔥 🔥 and it went platinum just like some of his other songs and he's been relivent for this long like from Gucci ground zero to Clone Gucci has been growth since day one and lot of people have fell off and couldn't adapt to keep up with the ages like Gucci and when he gets on fts. It's always fire met gala, slippery,I bet the bag are some more 🔥🔥 🔥and when he preforms like he just did in this live with zaytoven he Madara with fire jutsu and if npr turned that into a 18+ session and women could twerk and act ratchet it would be lit like he's been in the game for a long time and he even mentored and help Waka Flocka flame like , give Gucci respek , play boy 🐦 man out *rubs* *✋*

Zaytoven a real ass producer! Mad props he's able to play this shit live on the keys!
fucking incredible!
Kitchen Hacks
Yeah that's usually what musicians are supposed to be able to do.😐
You act like most musicians are able to play the piano to a hip hop, trap in particular, beat. That isn't a normal occurrence.
Yes but in this genre of music these days it is rare for someone to have that kind of skill.
bruh zay playing the shit out of the keys like hes blind

Kenny Ridge How can you oust one hip hop artist for using drugs? have you ever listened to a rap song? they all do drugs. I'm sure people would call you a crybaby too if you had depression and were in a high stress profession
HAZZARD you lack taste, except for #shit perhaps
Gucci and Zaytoven need to make a musical and call it "lost in the sauce"

This was a Zaytoven concert and Gucci was a feature
That's what made zay beats. The rap is just an accessory to a church pianist.

Zay killing they keys
If yall don't like Rap or trap music to be specific why click here? I for one applaud NPR for making tiny desk have a diverse set of artists. It would be boring if it were just folk singers.

Codi Maddox facts
Codi Maddox rise above
Codi Maddox "Nigga we made it"
This is why Zaytoven is and will always be my favorite producer. I'm reading these comments and everyone saying they're surprised he can play like this but I'm just like "I been knew this" lol. Ever since the basement days, he is nothing but pure talent.
Real gucci fans know how good zay is 💯

Zaytoven a pianist??? Not just a pianist, but a BEAST on the piano?????? This industry covers up true musicianship so much. I would have never known. 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

The crowd reaction to the Picasso line was golden 😂😂😂
the fact that he had a piano and didn't play lemonade really hurt me
They are playing songs produced by Zaytoven. Bangladesh did Lemonade

You gotta be closed minded to discredit this. Gucci deserves to be here as much as any hipster band.
You're silly
Sub Dolphin Why do you have so many subscribers for shit all?
so by your logic nothing should ever be discredited. I can think of plenty things to discredit including this minstrel show. plenty of other rappers that they could invite, but they choose gucci. BRILLIANT!!!
That attitude goes waaaay beyond millennials bud.

New Name I gotta jump in on this one, I think Em is one of G.O.A.T.s
Pr3ssPl4y then why are you here?
New Name why ya gotta hate on Em, his vocabulary alone sets him above so many. Maybe not the best but he's a G.O.A.T
I can't believe gucci made npr. zaytovan going in on the piano
That pianist blew my mind away! Nice, never thought Gucci mane could pull of a great tiny desk. Respect

Sean Cook The feedback is all positive asf so far
jaidsalgado Nice! Way to go NPR audience. :-)
I am young I can appreciate rap music. More so conscious rap music. A lot of hip ho and rap now a days have very coupted messages . You don’t know the irony of your statement. But it’s the beauty of it. I love it as a day 1 Gucci la flare fan.
Respect to NPR for doing this
As someone who listened to Gucci back in the day, when Waka was his hype man, this is so cool
100 years from now. They will go back to this for real commentary on our society. Poets at work!
zay Charles
Naw zaytoven , he is a specialist on his own and respect to Ray Charles , they're both 🔥🔥🔥 though

Wow! Just seeing Zaytoven at work is outstanding! Him and Gucci make a crazy duo. Zaytiggy is the modern day Mozart and that's on everything!
Carlos Muentes nope, 1st law of Trap music is Zaytoven > Beethoven
***** try to produce a beat then fuckboy
***** then you should the skill-set zaytoven possesses
+HAZZARD I don't think it's sensible to compare Zaytoven to Beethoven. People like Beethoven dedicated their time to creating a single piece of music, and Zaytoven has made probably thousands of 2-4 minute long instrumentals. I guarantee if he created a single coherent piece that focused entirely on melody, it would be just as impressive as classics.
So unconventional for tiny desk but I fucking love it.
I ain't even focused on Gucci. Dude on the keys is bumpin out on dat thang!

i SkyWalKing if he’s not hip hop then hip hop is lame asf lol it’s like saying slipknot isn’t rock
i SkyWalKing pushing the boundaries of the genre is what you’re supposed to do
@i SkyWalKing what are you talking about lol he's been in the game and craft a style and sound for over a decade drop out of college and felon made $12M and he was party style six shooter in hip hop like lemonade is 🔥 🔥 🔥 and it went platinum just like some of his other songs and he's been relivent for this long like from Gucci ground zero to Clone Gucci has been growth since day one and lot of people have fell off and couldn't adapt to keep up with the ages like Gucci and when he gets on fts. @i SkyWalKing lmfao shut your gay ass surburban ass up bitch. you dont know shit
youre a bitch and you dont like his music because you could never relate to it
Wow, this is incredible!!! Even better than expected and my expectations were high... Zay absolutely murders it on the keys!
For the culture✨
Corey King that's right 😎
I can't imagine what all the little old ladies listening to NPR were thinking
This performance just confirms my theory that gospel music is one of the stylistic origins of trap music.
I don't even get down with Gucci like that, BUT dem keys got me hooked..
That's a BEAST on the Piano!
Would've preferred full acoustic set, but still respects for Gucci for even showing up here.
Why this was 🔥 🔥
I like how Gucci kept it respectful and didn't swear on the NPR set. They probably didn't ask him to do that either. Zay is legend.
Gucci have a Tiny Desk?? Whaaaatttt? I'm thrown for a whole loop. 😁
