  • In 1957 WDT 61 (Wehrtechnische Dienststelle 61) was formed as an Aircraft Technical and Airworthiness Center. Based in Manching Air Base, Germany the center is the main facility for testing and evaluating military aircraft and weapons. To mark the WDT 61 50th Anniversary McDonnell Douglas F-4F 37+16 was given a special orange paint scheme that included "50 Jahre Flugerprobung" (50 Years Flight Testing) plus written aerodynamic and flight formulas on various locations on the aircraft as well as the famous Phantom SPOOKY on the belly.
    Seen here in 1:72nd scale diecast by Hobby Master is the McDonnell Douglas F-4F Phantom II from the Luftwaffe's WTD 61, 37+16, Manching AB, Germany, Squadrons 50th Anniversary in 2007. It's a very nice model with a great paint scheme.
    Thank you as usual for checking out our video, we appreciate it immensely. I hope you found it helpful in some way and if so please throw us a like or even subscribe if you wish to be kept up to date with our latest releases ‪@heavymetaldiecast‬
    Use of any images or video in any of my reviews is used out of pure respect in regard to units and/or actual people. I wish to acknowledge all those that have served past and present with their respective nations armed forces with some making the ultimate sacrifice. Political ideals aside, it takes great courage and selflessness to answer your countries call.
    Thanks again and have a great rest of your day.
    Cheers

    I like the arts of spook character underneath these German F-4 phantoms. The only F-4 phantom I have from German Air Force is the Luftwaffe, 37+01 Phantom Farewell with gold and blue scheme it is amazing though.

      Yes I also think spooky is pretty cool 😁 The Phantom you have is also a nice looking model. I have a couple Luftwaffe ones. I just see a Phantom and if its priced right I need to have it,haha. Problem is HM have made so many different liveries!! Thanks for checking out the video!!

      haha, yes and there will be more to come!! 😂 Yes the bright orange really stands out, but I guess that's the purpose of these test aircraft!! Thanks as always for dropping past!!

    As a big fan of both the F-4 Fantoms and of the color orange, I absolutely love this livery! I have never seen it before seeing this, though. Since I am new to the collecting of diecast airplanes, would you also mention, if you know, the year in which your models were released, please? I see you mention the prototype plane was painted that way in 2007, but I know sometimes it is years later when a model is released with the livery. Thanks, I really like your reviews and they are teaching me more. Another 👍 from me.

      @@espeescotty Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it 😀. Our second bright coloured Phantom 🤣 If you haven't seen it we did a drone F-4 review from Corgi awhile back. I have only been collecting dircast aircraft for a few years myself,haha. So a lot of the models are older releases that I buy second hand. Sometimes if I notice a year on the instructions I'll mention it. I try and mention if they are recent new purchases when I do brand new models in the reviews. If they are old I do try to mention that too to make viewers more aware that they can only be found on the second hand market. Thanks again for taking the time to check out the video and comment 😀👍

    I do not like phantoms ( i do not know why, I think it is a bad plane but i may be wrong) but this one with mathematical equations related to airplanes design has something special. Thank you for sharing your model.

      Haha there is nothing wrong with not liking a Phantom. Not everyone needs to like the same things. It's the whole purpose of doing all sorts of aircraft model video's. I have done reviews on some aircraft I personally don't like that much but other do so felt I need to show it. It is certainly a very special livery though that really stands out. Thanks for watching though!!!

      @@heavymetaldiecast You are correct in your observation about the phantom' but the phantom must have something special because it is one of the most reproduced diecast models. I do not know any war or conflict in which phantoms played a key role.

    • @heavymetaldiecast
      @heavymetaldiecast  Месяц назад +1

      @@jmguevarajordan The Phantom played a key role in the air war over Vietnam during the Vietnam War, for the USAF, Marines and US Navy. Also played a role in the Falklands war for the RAF, as well as very important for the Israeli's in the wars in the Middle East with IAF Phantoms shooting down over 100 enemy aircraft. And since its introduction it set 15 World Records during its service life for in flight performance. So in its hey day, it was a pretty bad ass plane,haha. But I have a mate that doesn't like it either. He made a game matt which had pictures of iconic aircraft for when he does gaming. I said where's the F-4? He didn't include a picture of it as he doesn't like it,haha

      @@heavymetaldiecast thank You for your observations about the phantom's air combat history. I knew about its actions in Vietnam but i didn't know about its use in the middle east. However, your observations about its use in the Falklands war between Argentina and Great Britain took me by surprise. Anyway, thanks again for your comment.

    • @heavymetaldiecast
      @heavymetaldiecast  Месяц назад +1

      @@jmguevarajordan While the RAF Phantoms didn't see the combat situations like Phantoms in the Vietnam War and Middle East. They were used heavily in policing of air space once hostilities were sort of settled but could still flare up. So technically speaking the war had just finished (as it was brief) But there presence there although numerically small just a few from 29 Squadron, the effect of Phantoms in the area was a great deterrent and helped maintain the peace in the Falklands.

      Thats the first time I have heard something German being referred to as bright and colourful. It took me years to try and get my German father to smile and enjoy a joke,haha. Coming from a German family humour wasn't in large supply,haha.
