Thanks very much for this video! Couldn't find any directions on RUclips when we bought the car (October 2021) on how to remove those trims. Glad you've published this one! Need to install an extra rear camera above the license plate and want to do it neatly.

I just changed the boot lock on my 2020 Tiguan and there is no need to remove any of the panels. Just take out the Torx screws and the light covers, unclip the bottom of the big panel and it's flexible enough to allow access to the lock using a ring spanner.

I knew that handle hides something but it felt like I'm gonna break it before I pull it off, glad to find your video - it encouraged me to use that force 😅

Hi. really useful video thanks. I'm having trouble getting the main cover back on....any advice please? I cant get it to hook into the two side mouldings. I have tried putting teh side mouldings on first, putting them partially on and putting all three parts ona s one but I cant seem to do it.

Thanks very much for this video, I successfully removed all trim. My issue is the dash constantly says the boot is open but I just cannot work out if I replace the lock or if there is a separate sensor ?? Any help greatfully received.

Hi, yes the sensor for the boot being open/closed is built in to the lock.

Hi there, my boot simply will not open, same model car. I can hear the mechanism making a noise but the tailgate is not releasing to be pulled up... Can you advise? Please

You can open the tailgate manually by accessing the lock from inside the car while the tailgate is closed. Fold down the rear seats and then remove the warning triangle holder from the boot lid, this will reveal a small opening (0:45 in the video) so you can then use a screwdriver to slide the white plastic arm to one side which will release the mechanism. You may need to swap/test the lock with another working unit.

Did you have any luck by this trick? I am pulling the white plastic bit to one side but nothing unlocks.

I’ve got a 2016 Tiguan the boot unlocks with the boot unlock button on the key fob but when I just unlock the car as normal the boot release button on the boot doesn’t work any ideas. TIA

If the boot lock is functioning when using the key, then it sounds like it could be the release button on the boot that is faulty.

My boot can't be opened too. After 5 years, things are giving way one by one including the speakers. VW is really unreliable ! I'm going back to Japanese makes.
