When Maribel dreams of Gensokyo it is assumable that she sees things from Yukari's point of view and when Yukari dreams its the opposite. Well that's what I believe.

This is my favorite vocal EVER. (and I mean it.) And so I was really hoping for an animation of it. And I was raving how cool an animation might be. And this PV right here exceeds my standards.I was in awe the whole time and kind of wanted to cry. (I didn't though.) But I could've. I could've cried. At how awesome this is. (And how sad, too ;_;)

Actually, he reveals a little more of them each album, I believe. It's hinted Maribel is actually a younger version of Yukari, since her ability to see boundaries has developed to being able to see through them and cross them while awake. Though, I can't speak much for Renko.
Amazing song. The artstyle is something that everyone wouldn't like it too much but I like it anyway. It has that...special feel for both of the characters. The normal one, and the special one. It kinda not making any sense but that's how it is.
Just for fun, you guys should definitely check a really, REALLY good Touhou novel featuring both of them. It's called Yumeutsutsu. It's a long novel, and I strongly suggest that you read that if you want to enjoy the characters a lot more.
Renko being Yumemi is plausible.
I mean, there is a lot of theories going around, but this wasn't doesn't seem to be explored enough.
There is a moment in which I think a writing where the Grand Unifed Theory was erected. And Yumemi is from that future. It's a small tie, but it's there.

Not manga but stories that come with the music CDs. There is a piece of each story that corresponds to a particular song. This song corresponds to a conversation that they have about Renko's ability and how it would work on the moon.

I'm guessing you haven't read the stories that come with the Music CD's. You would have understood it otherwise. It refers to part of (I think) Changeability of Strange Dream where Maribel dreams that she's in Gensokyo, but it turns out some of the things in her dream were real - which would suggest she was in an alternate reality rather than dreaming.
They thing in the intro is real.
This was the music on the first stage of Splatter Faith.
Maribel and Renko, I believe are from one of the official mangas of Touhou. The former is often portrayed as either a younger form of Yukari, or to be Yukari whilst dreaming, and Yukari to be her whilst dreaming. I prefer the latter theory personally.

Flandre Scarlet The original song is part of a bigger story with Renko Usami and Meribel Hearn from the album Magical Astronomy. If you search Magical Astronomy on google, you'll find something about the story. As for the lyrics, just search Fantasy Satellite.
Lkeren 1998 Any and everyone is welcomed to Gensoukyo. It is pretty hard/easy to stumble into Gensoukyo. You must become forgotten. Also bits of odds and ends make it into Gensoukyo all the time.

They look similar in official art as well, and people theorize that Yukari is a time-displaced Merry. Nothing's official except for their similar appearances and abilities.
And similar naming origins. Merry's named after a famous white guy called Lafcadio Hearn who adopted the Japanese name of Yakumo Koizumi.

Renko looks kinda boyish in alot of shots. May or may not have been done on purpouse due to the creator of the PV's interpretation of her.
