Some of them have tragic pasts, Byakuren above all, koishi is just fine tho, she doesn't seem to feel sad on the canon, she was just scared, but it seems like she enjoyed wandering around by herself after closing her third eye, and she even got to open a little her heart again thanks to fighting with reimu/marisa, wich is why we see her more active and visible in the fighters, I believe 💚

Koishi was in love with the boy, and curiously tried to see how he felt. It turned out the boy loved Satori, when she found out Koishi ran away and the boy caught up with her, but was afraid since knowing how he feels would hurt her. Koishi closed her heart and left the underground. Okuu and Orin searched for her, to no avail.
Realizing that the oni could never love her, she closes her third eye, effectively removing her ability to make conscious decisions and rendering her nigh on invisible, then flees the underground, and wanders the overworld as cannon dictates. After a while she wanders back home and she is welcomed. Noticing her family's injuries, she sets out to defeat Reimu and Marisa. A swift beating ensues, but as she lay on the ground defeated, she realizes that it was her love for her family... Tbc
+jeweltara Well, the Reimu/Yukari setup of SA basically just has Yukari telling Reimu to go through hell, and whenever she meets anyone, if they have an ass, she has to kick it.
+Zaephyer that much i'd be ok with,since alot of the figts In Touhouh aren't heavily plot driven aside from character dialog but her methods really make her look like the bad guy in alot of cases and i don't just mean one particular artist's work either. I admit she isn't my favorate,but i still hate to see a character made to look really evil when they aren't suppose to be. just a personal gripe though.

The artist is 作田ハズム (Sakata Hazm), and seems to go by name sakuta14 here on youtube and can be found as @s_hazumu in twitter. However, his content is very limited, and seems to be mostly his own projects with seemingly lower budget than these SOUNDHOLIC videos. Totally worth checking out, though.

Koishi came back to Chireiden to find her family beaten up. She left to challenge the culprits but was defeated. Satori wished for Koishi to be able to open her third eye. Koishi realizes that she is no longer loved by animals, and for the first time she wished the same. In the end, she slowly started to open up her heart.
Story is slightly different from cannon. In this version, while the Komeji sisters are reviled as usual because of their ability to read minds, the find an injured oni, whom Koishi develops a childish crush on. As he heals, she starts trying to make her sister Satori be friends with him as well, but does her job too well, and they fall in love (that's what the red lightning between was, their souuls connected.). She looks upon them with her third eye and sees it. Tbc
her natural skill was on that eye ot be able ot look inot other's minds she however closed it, not being fully aware that the side effect of closing would be closing her own kind aswell she basically driven by her id (subconcious mind) since the eye had her Ego, oddly neough her abilites still manifest, but they target the subconscious mind now, not only can she see it, but she can manipulate it for instance she can delete her percetion off the eyes of other, meaning you can only perceive her if your looking right at her, and youll forget bout her once she leave your sight(this is what she did on SA up till the Ex boss) the only way you cna make a lasting memory of her is by knowing she exists(ie her sister)
