A thousand "thank you"s for this video. I've been so frustrated by my Samsung smart TV, it's about 6 years old and I couldn't find any new apps via their search function. They do have plenty of what they categorize as MOST POPULAR which I either have never heard of or simply don't care about. I'm definitely going to be buying a Roku, hopefully through a link you've provided.

Thanks for another great video. I got a Roku Streaming Stick Plus for my Samsung smart TV when I cut the cord because I could only load a few apps on the Samsung before it ran out of storage space.

Thank you so much for this video. I have a Samsung 32 inch 2020 4K QLED and I recently purchased a 2022 Samsung OLED 55 inch 4K Smart TV. Neither of these televisions have the CW app. My Amazon 4K Fire Stick does. My Samsung televisions have most apps I watch like HBO-Max, Crackle t.v., Tubi t.v., and Pluto t.v.😁

I was a bit uninformed when I started streaming, so naturally I expected to get everything with my Samsung Q6fn.
I quickly learned that wasn't the case, and I got a Roku Ultra which I love.
The main thing that I notice is the difference between the way many of the apps work on each device.
It really wasn't a huge problem, and if I keep my tv long enough that they stop updating it, well the cost of a Roku is a LOT less than buying a new tv.

Do you mind if I ask you how much that cost you and I saw on that video that Apple TV come up do you have to pay for Apple TV and or any other apps that you haven't got on your Samsung TV?
@@cameronsmith4148 The Roku Ultra cost about $100.00.
Pretty much the same as it costs now.
As for all of these apps, some are free and some are strictly subscription regardless of what device you get them on.

not good enough for samsung, I should not have to buy another piece of technology to stream apps. I wont buy another samsung tv because of this issue. I have friends who have unknown brands of tv where the operating system is google. I will ensure my next tv will be google compatible. I will not recommend samsung tv. due to this problem. samsung tvs are at the high end price already. they need to knock their prices right down on their tvs if there not compatible. NOT HAPPY SAMSUNG you lost a regular client.

The issue is that Samsung has a wide range of platforms as they have multiple operating systems. Google would rather invest money on Tyzen based TVs since that's the main platform Samsung has built up. If you can't download it, it's simply because Google doesn't see your platform as valuable. The whole "They want it on every platform" isn't true as most TVs bought pre-2016 weren't bought for streaming like this and weren't equipped with remotes with voice and pointer controls. You just happened to have not done research when buying a product.
Samsung doesn't design the app and Google doesn't see your platform as viable for their app. Google's Android TVs were however geared for that. Welcome to the world of streaming where everything is a nightmare of proprietary services. Once again, you're just a consumer. I'm sure Samsung would love to have every app possible on their TVs as it doesn't benefit them not to.

I always recommend using a streaming media player over a TV’s own smart platform. They are better supported for longer periods of time.

Thank you so much I’ve been going around subscribing to different people on youtube -talking about this very subject and now you have just put it all down quite simply ! ……I have a 2016 Samsung model that I bought in 2019 not realizing that someday I would need to stream 🙁so I only get to watch RUclips because it does support RUclips app ..but anything after that nope. so I guess I’m gonna be forced to get a Roku the only question I have is do I have to pay monthly for using a Roku stick? this is a great video thanks for reading my question🤓
No Roku is a one time cost. The only charges would be if you choose to subscribe to paid apps.

Using the direct tv stream box and downloaded all my favorite apps exact for Apple TV it wouldn’t show up but if you use the voice command and say “Apple TV” it takes you to the play store and shows it but says incompatible my tv is fairly old but I can use Apple TV through fire stick so kinda sucks but it’s only one app and everything else works beautifully and I love it

same goes to AT&T TV app, some older samsung model like 2017/18 getting an error when streaming & once uninstalled, can no longer be install back.
Pretty understandable, tv hardware just cant handle the technology and pick up the software as it progress

I have a Samsung and want to watch 2 sports channels at the same time in multi view. But it will only let you use 1 hdmi input and apps. I tried to install rogers ignite tv app to tv but it not there. Will the route streaming let me do this. Thanks for all your help caus Samsung isn’t any help at all
My Samsung TV was bought in April 2022, and am able to load any apps. So perhaps they responded to the criticism although that is not helpful to those with complaints..

Thanks for the video, I been frustrated with my Samsung smart tv, I’ve had problems day one , I couldn’t update my software, on phone with tech support long hours , and lots BS claim they fix the issue then the return label never showed, then it ran out warranty talked higher up and they claim they fixed it if I get it to their repair shop , long story short Covid hit never got it fixed. I think my hard drive on TV is bad bcz I can search nothing on web , and keeps getting hit and freezes…keep taking me back to reg Tv stations..
Well on the Apps I had Hulu, Netflix, Vudu, RUclips,Amazon prime, and out of all of them my Hulu disappears I used it like 3 month ago.. but all others I mentioned are still there and some I don’t use very frustrating.. first Hulu blamed Samsung, then Samsung said it not them.. I did research found it’s Hulu issues..
I called 4 diff times and finally got someone knew something and it Hulu they not supporting my model , to go upgrade my Tv or use my phone, get roko all about money..
Like others I agree will never buy a Samsung Tv.. I always tho they were no1.. I say I should’ve got Sony..or LG or Hitichia.. most had roko program on it..

The strangest thing when searching for Hulu on my Tv, they added horrible apps most from foreign countries, not even a Spotify, india, China, Bollywood,…most apps now are paid version like Vudu u can’t sign in without paying for it I. My iPhone it free with some free shows.. they went down hill.. sorry 4 the rant…

I previously had a Toshiba fire stick TV. With the voice command I was able tell my TV to play a specific movie on a specific app. For example "Play Spiderman on Disney +" and it would play. This does not seem to be feature on my new Samsung Crystal TV. It can only only the app on command. But doesn't know what to do when I ask for specific movie or show within an app. Am I missing something?

I have a newer Samsung Smart tv, 5 series, N5200, that comes with cable. Have it hooked to my wifi. I am able to download these apps. But, it will ask me for 'which provider'. Since cable is already provided by the TV itself, how do I choose a provider from their list?

Maybe I should get Roku streaming stick 4k because two reasons: 1. My Bedroom & Living Room TV such as 2018 Samsung Smart TVs are in PODS Storage which is in South Florida. 2. I have older Samsung Smart TV from New Kings Road Atlantic Self Storage which doesn’t have airplay support + it have less apps than newer smart tvs or newer streaming devices does.
When got my samsung tv, there were hundreds of apps and there was a search function to search an app. I could also see the network folders and stream from there. Now what happened? updates updates, search button is gone, there are only 135 apps and I cannot see network folders, it says to install stupid samsung app to the server etc..
I go to the Samsung apps icon but there is no search bar icon where I can push it so I can type in what app I want to download where would I find this it's like a magnifying glass sort you know what I'm talking about it's on a lot of it's got a circle and then a line under the circle diagonally would you be able to help me out with this and tell me where I can find this icon

But my older samsung smart tv, had Pluto but not the newer one & I seen the age gaps(which mine should be fine!) They said it was another reason, via just for some odd reason to not support it on that version... but using an extra device sucks(even thought I have an Xfinity flex box & chrome!) But sometimes I just want to press ch. & not switch to device, find app & then go to the channel & so on & so forth!!! Update:: they now have Pluto tv on my newer tv... Lolz... so crazy!!!

I have a Samsung eight series SUHD from 2015 and the App Store does not support Philo or Shudder. I also recently brought a LG 65 inch OLED TV 2021 model and LG App Store also doesn’t support Philo or shutter app. I have to watch it on Apple TV or my 43 inch android Sony TV.

Hi Michael. The paramount app on my smart tv disappeared sometime in the last 3 months. I was there before, I used it without issue and now it is gone. I used the search function you suggested to find it, it was not found. I did a hard reset of the tv and tried again, no luck. Further things I should try?
How old is your TV? Any chance Paramount is no longer supporting/updating the app for your TV model and year?
I have a Samsung 24 inch smart TV someone left in an RV I bought so I went on Amazon and bought a used roku express for less than $15.

Unsporting Smart TVs is the downside of television manufactures forcing the consumer to by an OTT devices or a new television set every few years. Hopefully, everything becomes more universally compatible with more Smart televisions for longer periods of time.

Does anyone have a problem with exiting Roku Express to return to Spectrum cable? Every time I'm returned to the last channel I was viewing on cable by changing source on my old Samsung Smart TV via its' remote, if I then start using my Charter cable remote I am always returned to ROKU Express. Meh, i have a samsung un60h6350 60" 1080p Smart TV that came out in 2014, that has all the main apps like Netflix, Hulu and amazon video. But i have been streaming to the TV via samsung TV plus. I can stream anything to it, so not having access to the newer apps isn't an issue with the "mirror" or streaming" options available.
I pre-apologize for long question and explanation. I have a 2015 Samsung J6200 Series 55"Class Full HD Smart UN55J6200AFXZA with only two HDMI ports. Cable box plugged into one & DVD player in other. I want to add Roku. I’ve chatted with Samsung and they told me to unplug one of the devices. I don’t know much about this stuff but that doesn’t seem the best solution. Can you tell me or describe to me which type of splitter and/or switch would work/need? I read a switch and splitter are different. If you could recommend a specific one or two, I would very much appreciate it. I’ve been steaming Netflix for quite sometime but didn’t realize 2015 Samsung TVs limited their Streaming apps (I haven’t been interested in other streaming until now). Seems like they could do an upgrade but who am I to think that? I don’t want to buy a new TV when this works fine.
I haven’t tested any switches or splitters, but I see a few affordable options on Amazon. I would read the reviews and try one out. Should be an easy fix for your problem since many switches provide 3 inputs and use up only one HDMI slot on the TV.

I suddenly lost the option on the left side of the youtube tv app where I can get to the library/home/live options. I've tried everything to get back to watching live tv, but no success.

Yeah it exactly what they said telling you as a computer guy. The newer the processors, and hardware the more apps it will support.
This is for all devices. Even the Roku streaming device. If you use an old Roku they will be apps that might not support that hardware anymore that's in that older hardware device so you have to basically buy another Roku.
Same thing with phones except they're hardware is usually supported much longer..
Having the same issue with my 2021 Samsung TV I like the fact that they give you Samsung TV Plus which is free but when you go into the search function on Samsung TV Plus IT IS JUST NOT THERE.. but it's there on my Samsung TV Plus app on my phone the Galaxy fold 5. It's not called Samsung TV Plus it's actually called TV. But it's the same app.
On my TV there's no way to even update the Samsung TV Plus app and it's actually from its own company lol.. cuz I like that search function and I don't want to use Smart view because the quality is not as good.
And I'm pretty sure it's because that app the newest Samsung TV Plus app doesn't support the older operating system in a 2021 TV that the newer TV support it's the same situation that's going to keep happening over and over again!!
The bottom line is they don't put as much money into the hardware, in these smart TVs as they do in phones THIS IS HOW THEY KEEP THE PRICE LOWER IN THESE TVS. My 86-in Smart TV was only $1,100 which is absolutely amazing in 2024!! But it's a 2021 TV something's going to give..

You can use your Samsung remote to control the volume or the Roku remote if it has volume controls!

You would need to purchase a supported devise that does have the app. There are plenty of others besides Roku like Amazon Fire TV and Chromecast with Google TV!
