In this video we look at how to de-register and then factory reset a 3rd Generation Amazon Echo Dot. Please note that the process that we demonstrate in this video, is different from the advice that Amazon offer. So if you are planning to lend, give away or sell your Amazon Echo Dot. The method shown in this video, is the better method to use.

Found one in a skip today, is there any point on me buying a power supply or is it basically a paperweight as it's probably registered with someone else
I deregistered my echo dot and reregistered it again. After I register it days it has to update and the light spins yellow. After an hour it says it cant update and the light turns purple. I cant use any commands or anything, help!

Hi there, i Have accidently set mines to factory settings. how do i reuse the same device on my account?
Simply run through the setup process, using the same Amazon account that you previously used.
I held the action button down for 3 minutes still no orange light
ECHO IS resetting

Place the 3rd gen echo dot in setup mode - ruclips.net/video/SMFbqUPrZBI/видео.html will allow you to use the Alexa App to reconfigure the dot with a new amazon account or wireless access point.

Not true I was able to do ot with out using the wifi
When it’s spinning its keep spinning and doesn’t even restart
USB leads and power bricks do not all provide the same voltage. So if you are not using the original USB lead and power brick that came with your Echo Dot. Try changing both of those items, ideally for originals.

WHAT EVER YOU DO...DO NOT DE-REGISTER IT!!! YOU WILL NEVER GET IT REGISTER AGAIN. JUST SAYING. MY ECHO DOT 3 IS JUST A PAPERWEIGHT NOW.
