I cannot described or think the word to show my feeling and appreciation on this work by Haydn LIFE. GOD

Great performance, everyone is excellent, soloists, conductor, orchestra and Rene Pape is outstanding, can`t imagine any other bass/baritone surpassing him. In fact, to be fair, all the soloists are outstanding!

I love Rene Pape in the Creation, but there's another Creation on You Tube - with Bernstein conducting and the great Kurt Moll singing the basso partie. And as good as I think Pape - Kurt Moll played in a league of his own.

@@TheSycorax I was lucky enough to hear Moll 3X at Met, NYC. Gurnemanz, Osmin, & Sarastro. A truly great artist.

just amazing this performance, and believe it or not, it comes from my hometown Luzern! I walked by that church every day to go to the old Kanti; oh and how much love the story of Job!

I own five other DVD's of this work and, all things considered, this one pleases me more than any of them. (I've never understood the wide-spread enthusiasm for Bernstein's recording.) If I were to purchase yet another DVD of Die Schöpfung, this would probably be my choice.

PLATO says: "MUSIC MUST BE FELT, IT PENETRATES THE SOUL & CLEANS IT!" Haydn's CREATION is the lucid definition.

This is an Oratorio, so no costume, action or scenery as opposed to Opera where all these are present. The audience does not clap after every (aria) 'song' or Chorus. They clap at the very end, but even then, the signal to applaud is when the conductor bows. Since this is a deeply moving work, for everyone present, to clap immediately would be inappropriate. There's a pause to absorb the enormity of the work and its meaning. So this silence is important. CREATION is a big deal! AMEN!
