Bach Mgnificat is really a glorious religious music. This and the outstanding vocal interpretation are the elements that become sublime the masterpiece. Viva Bach!! The orchestra and the set of voices are excellent. Thanks for this divine interpretation.
3 choruses and 1 duet in here I am not familiar with but welcomed lengthening of this exquisite short work. This has to be the most aesthetically pleasing and technically perfect performance I've heard of this work. Beautiful work by soloists.
How old this time is Mr. Ton Koopman? I am conducting with agile move full of force, and organ also playing. It's a wonderful performance. I'm very happy to see such a picture. Merry Christmas.
And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name. And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation. He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away. He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy; as he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever. Lucas 1:46-55
Wow!! Thanks for having post this marvelous conducting of Bach's Magnificat. Wonderful choir voices, never overlapping erroneously, always singing together, clearly feeling each line!
When I was 7 and living in London, my mom wanted to take to the Magnificat. I was sick of classical and I refused, so she told me: "Well, It is about a cat who is ... Magnificent!". I could never forget such association.
Profound understanding and interpretation, love the precision tune and 'cool' enthusiasm of Bogna Bartosz...besides it being excellently recorded. Probably the most convincing rendition of the E flat major version of the Magnificat I have come across so far.

Along with the Herreweghe recording done a year prior to this one (in 2002), these two recordings of the E flat major earlier version of this work (nowadays categorised as BWV 243.1 instead of BWV 243a) are by far the best. The addition of the 4 Christmas movements does wonders for this entire work. Edit: Not sure what the sudden sharp cut at 9:52 was for though... kind of ruins this performance
So confusing, because this IS BWV243a (with the 4 Christmas hymns added, without Roman numerals in the program list), but it's not in E-flat, but rather in Baroque-pitch D-major (sounding like D-flat on a modern piano). What gives???
@Bach Sampled Well THAT's interesting info - but still, one wonders how we come to have a modern youtube video at THAT pitch. These modern musicians still have to have been reading music in D-major, right? I mean, we don't have full orchestras of instruments tuned to 392 Hz, I'm guessing. Nor would there be much point.

JD Olson you must have heard the d major version
YES! Thank you for that information. I'm reading about his different versions now.
Magnificos!
I want Ton Koopman's cantata collection. It can not be helped if I want it.
Trumpets having a bit of a time with the parts, sounding a little thin at times. Overall a really good performance.
What happened at 9:54?
a glitch that was removed from the upload, apparently.
7:45 This Performing's pitch is 415, and has to use oboe da'more. but 1st oboe musician used 392 hz, Why used it?
I don't mean to be that guy, but isn't principio pronounced prEEnCHEEPEEO?
It's Prinkiepio in Antique Latin, with a hard "k" sound. But which Medieval Latin pronunciation are you looking for?
Sounds like "printsipio". Wouldn't that be a German pronunciation?
@@Samplesurfer
>It's Prinkiepio in Antique Latin, with a hard "k" sound. Yes, and the Roman Catholic was ignorant of that.
Herr doktor Koopman forgot Bach put 3 trumpets in his Magnificat.
And you forgot to wear your glasses, there's three trumpets right there.
@@naess004 lmao
The D-major version....
Yes.
So what happened in 1939..?
Ton je maakt er een kermis van en je weet het zelf ook.
Waarom altijd zo zenuwachtig Ton?
Misschien moet je eens opus 117 van Brahms bestuderen. Zal je tot rust brengen. Luister eens naar Radu Lupu
I wonder why they leave the altars in these fake churches, when they throw out everything else .... ????
Yes, for Satan worship and Porno scenes.
@@martinmoller5591 oh jeez, what nonsense.....
It's hardly a fake church, it is the Thomaskirche in Leipzig, Bach's own church. It is still in use as a church, with services every Sunday.

Additional thanks for normal Latin "magna" in V instead of meowing "manja" heard so often in this movement ^_^
No such thing as 'normal Latin'.
As a rule of thumb: works of German composers are best sung with "classical" pronunciation (no [tch] [dj] [ny] etc. sounds as in Italian).
That's not normal, that's German. In Italian or French music we would have sung manya.
