Yes! Yes!! Yes!!! I've missed you guys so much. I clicked so fast I might have broken my finger. Just two days back, I was remembering how I used to look forward to the podcast. Then I remembered Jo's infamous 'So long everybody' and the way he said "for the last time." It brought me to tears. Little did I know you guys would be back! Thanks for doing this!
That's so weird to me that people skip the news. The news is where I learn the most, where the insights are applied and how they move the needle for the trio. Anyway, love this podcast. I've re-listened to almost all of them and still learn something. 😁
Holy cow. I have been missing you guys so much I have been pathetically listening to all the old shows Again and again. And then this suddenly showed up on my feed. Just now. Are you serious??? Thank you!!!!
OMG!!!! I just squealed when I got this notification!!!! Hey guys!!!! You guys look great! Funny thing is, I'm actually getting traction with my latest book. I'm so tickled. Feeling like maybe I can make a living at this(?) So happy to see yinz!!
Andrea, I totally heard the same thing you did when Lindsay said, “less doomy”! 😂 Also, to the point about finding the books I wrote that I think are fabulous receiving lower kudos, omg, yes!!! Great to hear your voices again, Jo, Lindsay, and Andrea 😊
This was great! It didn't come up in my feed but Jo Penn mentioned it and I came running 😂 Topic on point as usual, thanks! So great to hear you all talk with so much honesty on it. I had also noticed a big royalties dip these past few months and wondered if it was because of amazon changing things on the back end in sep that some authors have said had a big impact for them, namely the now being only able to rank in 3 category charts thing. Plus I hadn't had a release out in months. I hadn't considered the wider global issues much. I even did a big promos and freebies push which had little impact. Am seeing things get a bit better this month and hope everyone else is too. Great to hear from you all and good luck in the future 🙂 Hope we hear from you all again once in a while. This remains my fave podcast!
I'd listen to you guys talking about the gauge of wire. Great surprise to see you on my feed. Please do another one soon. Waiting to catch up with all your news. Maybe I'm odd, but always been my favourite bit.
Wonderful to hear from everyone again. Serious times. I understand if the podcast is only a memory, but still know it was my favorite. An underrated gem. Best of luck.
so happy to see your faces again and thank you for the episode! I think this topic has been on a lot of our minds lately as we watch royalties dip for seemingly no reason
This was great timing and good information. Lindsay, what was the book that you talked about concerning cycles? Oh, never mind. Found it in the show notes. Fourth Turning Neil Howard
I mentioned this on a writing forum a while back. Why are bestselling authors not getting endorsement deals or having ads in their books? Look at how Yakult yogurt drinks started selling out after the drink was shown for a few minutes in the film adaption of 'To all the boys I've loved before'.
Lol, I heard "let's do me" too. You're not the only one Andrea! hahaha. This was a helpful reminder of things to be aware of that readers are balancing.
A bigger factor in sales dropping this year is probably to do with Google making apps use their payment system for in app purchases. When this went into effect (I think it was in June or July?) Amazon made the decision to disable in-app-purchases in the android kindle app. Those readers now have to leave the app and go to the Amazon web site to purchase books. If you only read in KU, you aren't affected.
On the depression and hard times issues, I'm the weirdo who will eat nothing but ramen before giving up books. Reading is also my drug of choice, so like Joe said, if my life is bad/stressful/illness, I don't just race the the loving arms of a good book, I race there. 😊
Would love you guys to do an episode about AI, it's destroying the art community. I don't understand why writers can't see that when they use Sudowrite/Jasper they are training their replacement. The more authors use AI the quicker they will become irrelevant because they are training the AI in semantics, the AI can't just scour all books and learn writing like it can with Art and Music, literature will be hardest for it to copy, but if authors keep using it in real time (because that is only way it will learn semantics), then in 5 to 10 years we will be in the same position artists 🎨 are finding themselves now with Midjourney/GPT 3... anyway, hope you guys do an episode on AI... for me, I will continue writing (WITHOUT AI) even when there is no market for my books, because I am doing it for my own soul... this AI tech is creepy and I will never have anything to do with it, it has a whiff of the demonic about it.

As an engineer, Jo could probably talk about that. :D
Love your podcast. Even if you guys do one every few months, it is great to hear your thoughts on topics. Just wonderful.

Are you sure you don’t want to start a new show? 😊 You’re my favorite podcast ever!
Welcome back!
I actually thought this was an episode from the past, then I saw it was only five days ago 😊😊😊
On the depression and hard times issues, I'm the weirdo who will eat nothing but ramen before giving up books. Reading is also my drug of choice, so like Joe said, if my life is bad/stressful/illness, I don't just race the the loving arms of a good book, I race there. 😊

Ze boys are back in town.
