2:11:28. THAT right there is what a great catcher will do for you in a huge moment in the game. That's what receiving looks like you youth catchers. All one smooth motion. Not catch...then move. He caught that while his glove was moving towards the zone. Not because he's trying to fool the umpire...but because he's making the pitch look like the strike it is. Oklahoma catcher didn't do this even once all game. Catchers were night and day. One was average at best, the other was clearly above average... Has some work to do, but definitely would be above the 25% mark of MLB active catchers. Oklahoma catcher....might be a low A average defensive catcher....he better be able to hit or he'll be done after college.
1:55:45 commentator predicts that this catcher batting will be drafted early. Really? Why? He's not a very good defensive catcher. So unless he's going to DH for a team and hits amazingly well .. Why? Maybe move him to first base if he can hit? He's certainly a subpar defensive catcher at least based on game 1 and 2 or this series.
