i got chain back on 2005 qr25 now crank wont move more than 90 degrees
why would valves be interfering? or is it bottom tensioner?

Did you turn the motor over after you set the marks

I couldn't help buy notice the crank gear wasn't lined up with the nipple on the block. Did you do that intentionally or were you just showing us the basics?

Well, even though they're tough to get to, at least it has timing marks! Unlike the Mazda 2.3's etc. What happened that it needed to be re-timed? None of the parts looked that new.

+Baxrok2 This car has a bad tran and water was getting in the oil , been documenting a little. Took it apart and put it back together to show the timing . I'm going to replace the engine as opposed to replacing the head . It was a little too uncomfortable for me with all that water in the oil. These covers and oil plates are really glued on with that black rtv. Thanks for watching

This is a great video i have a 2005 altima, ive wanted to do this for the last few months. It's hard with out having a hoist or chery picker to pull the engine out. How many days did this take and how much were parts, chain etc?

The timing assembly runs around 100 or less . As far as getting the engine out it was a pretty good job and a tight squeeze coming out the top with motor and tran together. It was cold weather when i tackled this and believe id spent a few weeks on it . Thanks for watching

@@s33therfan can I ask how much more time you got out of the car from doing this? And did this help your car run better? My car is idling rough and I'm wondering if it's my timing chain or maybe should I replace the catalytic converter? My 2005 Altima has 220km on the original chain and convertor. Thanks for the reply.

I was replacing the engine and just put a new timing chain assembly as a precaution. Its really hard to say with rough idles if you have done the basic tune up then you may want to take it in just for a diagnostic . The shops have the really good computers that can read all the information without a code even and try to pin point the issue. Around where I am they charge 50 for diagnostic but I would call and check around . Hope this can help thanks again .

@@s33therfan yes thanks so much, around where I am, London Ontario, Canada they charge $120 hr shop rate. I've never found a decent mechanic. I put an new alternator belt on my car. I brought my car in for an oil change and the shop told me I needed a few things done. One of which included to replace my belt, apparantly it was cracked. I played into it. Keep in mind this was only a 3 month old belt.
I took of the belt went in a week later and talked to the guy that normally works there. I asked him to look at the belt and let me know if anything was wrong with it. He said no it looked used, I verbatim said do you see any cracks on it. He said no. I then said that's too bad because now we have a problem. I then showed him the recomend work that needed done to my car. Made him read there recommendation. He said well maybe it dose need replaced.
I've not gone back since. I try to do as much work on my car as I can. I have zero trust in shops.

Yes I dont blame you . I wish I could be more help . I would start with cheap and easy fixes if its an otherwise good running engine with only rougb idles. Spark coil packs even a vaccum leak , gas treatment , dirty throttle body, at the end of the day it may be just a worn out engine . I used replace heads and rebuild some engines but anymore its cheaper to just swap out the engine it seems.

And then you wont have to drop the oil pan all the way off if you just remove the three bolts that go from bottom up into front timing cover?
