He was easily the most creative writer/performer on the original SNL cast. He really helped make the show something special with his characters; when he was young he was extremely creative. Ghostbusters was his idea. He wrote the first scripts for it. And The Blues Bros.
It's a shame Dan Ackroyd isn't as highly respected as Murray, he's such a talented writer AND actor, and I don't know why, but his voice is always soothing to me :)
"I had eight years with John, and we had a ball every second, we had a ball. [...] I just hope he's waiting for me on the other side. I'm sure he will be." - Dan Aykroyd I'm sure too Dan.
I loved whenever John Belushi would team up with Dan Aykroyd - the Blues Brothers (one of my favorites), Neighbors, 1941 and his debut (Animal House). Harold Ramis, R.I.P. - I remember him in Stripes, a Bill Murray classic.
Two weeks ago, I met a young belgian Freelance screenwriter called Pascal Wollwert at Made in Asia 2014 in Brussels, Belgium. He wrote a new version of Ghostbusters based on the original story written by the late Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd. I cannot say "remake" or "reboot" but he has some good ideas. To me, Ghostbusters I was the greatest movie of 80's. Ghostbusters II was mediocre. Ghostbusters III I don't know. But I think that to make a new version of Ghostbusters could be better than Ghostbusters III. First of all, a lot of people don't know who are Ghostbusters (except old generation) or they know the "Extreme Ghostbusters" TV cartoon, that's all. Second of all, the new generation must discover who are Ghostbusters and it's wouldn't bad idea to make a new version of Ghostbusters if the director is good. Dan Aykroyd or Sony Pictures should give the opportunity to Pascal Wollwert to submit this project. A lot of movie are their own new version: Robocop, Halloween, Captain America, Batman, SuperMan, Her, etc. Why not Ghostbusters? Mr. Pascal Wollwert has really good ideas, I'm sure that all Ghostbusters fans around the world and the new generation will not be disappointed.
I appreciate your comment, but don't you think that "discovering Ghostbusters" means discovering the original movie? I think the essence of discovering is finding out what's out there, our movie history, but also books and what not, rather than remaking what was already great. If I want to watch a Hitchcock movie, I don't need anyone to first make new version of his movies. That's the beauty of discovering: discovering what people and places looked like in the past. How was their sense of humor? What was the music like? Just my 10 cents.
In other words extreme ghostbusters, Instead Egon, will be Ray. Its weird That Mr Ackroyd with already existent sequel plot, havent think on it, with the original cast that WANT to be in the Film. Most of the "not want to be in the movie" cast can be explained SO SIMPLE, like in the series.
I couldn't agree more. Maybe he needs to become an internet meme like Murray did (thanks in part to Zombieland). I say he at least deserves points for creating his own Vodka... IN A CRYSTAL FUCKING SKULL.
I love Ghostbusters. I have Ghostbusters posters in my apartment. Bill Murray was my idol. And he's right. There shouldn't be a Ghostbusters 3. Has anyone seen what Harold Ramis look like nowadays? I know someday it will be revived as a franchise but a third sequel with the original cast would just be depressing. And another thing, the originals were funny because Akroyd and Ramis wrote the scripts and everyone improvised and Reitmen got what they were doing. You can never go back there.
My question precisely... Between trapadoored's point, and Dan referencing the "hot new writer" Etan Cohen as the writer that 'wrote MIB III"... Yeah, it doesn't really sound promising.
And your opinion makes you smart? Who the hell decided that? Is that the general consensus of the film? Because the reviews of critics and fans alike were largely favorable, much more than with MIB2. If you disliked MIB3, fine. It doesn't make those of us who did like it stupid. I don't like the Transformers movies, but I don't call the fans of them names or tell them they lack intelligence for it.

I'm sure too Dan.
Dan Akroyd is a good guy.

What happened, Akryod. We never got a third movie. How did this movie not get made...
he looks well here
Love Aykroyd!
No wonder Belushi liked Aykroyd. Seems like a very smart and interesting individual.
There should be a third, where Spengler had died of Lab Accident and got replaced by Norton, played by Chevy Chase.
Show the full interview pls!
Love his comedy and I love his vodka! Expensive but worth every penny!
"Ignominious"....QUALITY WORD.
do you know the rating of the film?

Ed Murphy, Belushi and John Candy would have killed us.
Least we die laughing
I would ask if he ever got together with Penelope in Trading Places.
Vinkmen?

Why aren't Danny and Harold writing Ghostbusters 3?
The movie was quite ok! A lot better than MiB2
The "Murricane"?! LOL Dan.
