  • Boston - I Had a Good Time
    ___________________________
Hey, you can be so unfair
And you know I will remember
You said you'd always be there
    When you go
Hey, I wanted you to know
    I wish you were mine
And I, I just wanted you to know
    I had a good time
Ooh I, I had a really good time
You can lie and I'll still believe it
    It's OK, it doesn't matter
I know that you really mean it
    In your own way
Hey, I wanted you to know
    I wish you were mine
And I, I just wanted you to know
    I had a good time
Ooh I, I had a really good time
    You know what you want
    Well maybe love is blind
    But it's alright, it's cool
I just wanted you to know
I had a really good time
    Well I've been in love
    But nothing lasts forever
So just hold on long enough
And maybe you'll end up together
    It's alright, yeah, yeah, yeah
You can lie to my face and I'll believe it
    It's OK, 'cause there's a feeling you can't replace
    You didn't mean it anyway
Hey, I wanted you to know
    I wish you were mine
And I, I just wanted you to know
    I had a good time
Ooh I, I had a really good time

Had the honor of meeting Brad before he passed away. My little sister had cancer at the time (she was 6) and we got back stage tickets to meet the band. Brad was the only one to come out out of all of them. He had lunch with us and spent time with my entire family. Later half way through the show, he paused and dedicated the song "Amanda" to my little sister. The song she is named after. Best man I've met in my life. Thanks Brad

tfi3ld congratulations you met at a legend all the most famous rock bands of all time and I was deeply saddened when I heard the news that he died and we all need to say a prayer for fried galp and shout out to his family it was a tragic loss the way he died hopefully people see the suicide is not the answer to everything you know when you do something like that you have to be thinking about your family's what you going to be putting them through if you do contemplating suicide suicide is not the answer and I just hope people should learn something like this don't ever do something like that cuz you be putting your family through a lot when you do something like that like taking your own life like that my heart goes out to Brad Delp and his family I just wish she could have found some other way to deal with his pain then to do what he did and it's not a laughing matter I just voicing my opinion nobody should never do that cuz no matter what you do is going to make your parent you going to make your family suffer for that

Of water this way too to dedicate us all to your sister

His vocals are insane! The guitar is crystal clear and unique. One of the best bands ever. The only drawback is Tom Schulz was such a perfectionist that we kept waiting for another album. But their quality over quantity approach was and is just brilliant.

Five years later, I still want to cry when I think about Brad Delp's passing. The biggest shame is perhaps that so few people even knew it happened. This is the lead singer on the best-selling debut album of all time! And was still rocking it live in his mid-50s. I should know - I was fortunate enough to see them twice before he offed himself.
I don't know what he was dealing with that led to that decision, but I don't judge him and simply miss his presence in the music world.

His girlfriend who had cheated on him and he had taken back, I should add (not that anything would justify ever doing that). When she found it, her boyfriend confronted Brad. I forget exactly what went down other than that he was mortified and extremely apologetic about the whole thing and then shortly thereafter killed himself.
I don't know what possessed him to do what he did, ultimately, but I don't get the impression that he was fundamentally a bad person. He seemed weak and deeply troubled.

"Had the honor of meeting Brad before he passed away."; I could not say it better than this. Boston opened their Third Stage tour in Rochester, NY; an hour away from my high school self. I had SATs the next day, but had to see their first show since the 70s, so I biked to the bus station, bought a ticket and got to see the premiere. I couldn't go back home until 6am, so I stuck around the venue, and as the band all boarded the bus, Brad left them and came over to talk to the fans who were outside. As he told the driver to just leave and come back for him, the band taunted him, "Braaaaadley!"; there were some hardcore fans there who knew about stuff I'd never heard of, like Orion the Hunter, but meeting him and getting his autograph was one of the highlights of my life, even though I wasn't able to say much more than "you're amazing!". A day I'll never forget; it's strange, I miss someone I only met once

If I could go back in time I would tell Tom Scholz to make "Third Stage" the last of a trilogy and re-name it "Home At Last" using the same artwork as "Walk On" with the following songs in order:
    1. We're Ready
    2. The Launch/Cool The Engines
    3. Amanda
    4. Walkin' at Night/Walk On
    5. I Think I Like It
    6. Hollyann
    7. I Had A Good Time
    8. We Can Make It
This would had made the Boston albums a trilogy with "Boston" being the beginning of the journey with the exploding Earth, "Don't Look Back" searching for a home, and "Home At Last" ending the journey with the finding of a new home world.

I was there in '76 when Boston first hit the scene. This song rocks as hard as "More Than A Feeling". Maybe all of the originals from the band weren't part of this particular song, the one mainstay and driving force was Brad Delp. As far as I'm concerned, Brad Delp was, and always will be, BOSTON!!!!!! RIP Brad. I miss you voice and talent.

Well, More Than A Feeling is a ballad, so yeah it does rock as hard.. This track is garbage. It's got a basic repeating chord for a melody line. It's like Tom had a stroke and went back to grammar school writing. Should have called it a day after Walk On. Four brilliant albums then shit out two turds.

I heard this song the first time when I was about 7 or so (about the time when I got my first PC, because the song always remembers me to that) and I loved it immediately because the sound is so awesome. Actually, I knew the Band Boston many years before I found out there was a town called like this.

  • @karlgurney9665
    @karlgurney9665 Год назад +3

A couple of things ... 1) dang, but this is a great song ... a real pity it is largely unknown ... 2) I've always said (and I imagine most would agree) that a band needs something really unique to be great, be it their harmonies (Eagles, Queen, Beach Boys), great lead guitar (Eddie Van Halen, Slash, Richie Sambora, Brian May and so many others), an iconic drummer (Def Leppard, The Who, Led Zeppelin), profound lyrics (Lennon, Henley, Dylan, U2, Petty) or a special lead vocalist (I could list so many here, but outside of Freddy, is there anyone who's vocals could truly compare with Brad Delp?) ... Anyway, my point is that Boston was a rare band who were blessed to have "IT" in multiple categories ... and as much as I wish they had produced their music more frequently, I suspect that if they had, it wouldn't have been nearly as special as it was.
Just so glad I could come along to enjoy the ride all these years.
