    Thanks for all your great reviews, all very detailed. Regarding the screen, would you say it is significantly better than the one on the A7III? I haver the 3rd gen body, and the only thing that annoys me is the screen. Highlights are rendered in an unpleasant way (especially when shooting in black and white) and the sunny weather option makes the screen look really horrible. The A7II had a much better screen, in my opinion. Would you say that the screen on the A7IV is improved in those areas compared to the A7III? Thanks!

    Thank you for the detailed review that you've made here and in other videos. I 'd like to ask you a question since you have both Sigma 24-70 and Tamron 28-75 G2. Have you noticed considerable difference in terms of image stabilization in video between two lenses? I'm asking because I've experienced a much worse stabilization with Tamron G1 compared to 24-70 G Master.

    • @TheHybridShooter

    Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us. Apart from the low burst shoot mode the A7IV is only capable of (perhaps in a new firmware upgrade it goes up to 15 shots/second), another thing as a landscape photographer that annoys me is this. The location in the left side of the input for long exposures, making it rather cumbersome when using a L-Bracket to readjust it and then insert the micro usb cable. Fujifilm listens to their customers and has that precise input on the other side of their new X-H2, X-H2S...

    • @zweiche

      I was thinking to purchase a7iv . can't you do long exposures with phone app or wireless remote shutter ?

    • @professionalpotato4764
      @professionalpotato4764 Год назад

      The low burst mode is limited by readout speed and processing speed. Likely that it is impossible to make it any faster. Sensor readout speeds are determined 3-5 years ago when they first designed it. It does seem a bit weird to downgrade from 10fps in A7iii to 6fps in A7iv though...

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  Год назад +1

      @Professional Potato Readout speeds depend on the read-out mode. Higher speed at full read-out won't be possible unless it is intentionality limited at the moment. Offering more FPS in other read-out modes (lower bit RAWs, binning, crop, etc.) is possible, but Sony never does that via FW update.

    • @professionalpotato4764
      @professionalpotato4764 Год назад

      @@TheHybridShooter It just feels like a downgrade considering the a7iii did 10fps at 14 bit. 12 bit feels like a step back to mft standards.

      @TheHybridShooter  Год назад

      @@professionalpotato4764 Yes, that it is a weakness of A7 IV, there is not way around saying that, but the real-world difference between 12 an 14-bit is not that significant in majority of scenes.

    I have a question for you Hybrid Shooter, with the current lower prices of the Sony 24-70 GM, version 1, I can get one under $1300, vs the Sigma 24-70mm and the Tamron 28-75, both later at current prices, which one would you choose? As for the price, I listed is the Sony 24-70 GM version 1 a viable option or should I wait and get the Sony 24-70mm GM version 2.
    I heard that the Sigma is great, but it possibly has dust issues when you extend it out due to weather-sealing gaskets, is this true? Is the Sony 24mm-70mm GM version 1 better especially at the new prices better than the Sigma or Tamron in image quality and are there any autofocus issues with the Sony 24-70mm GM version 1? Thanks in advance and as always Hybrid Shooter, you have outstanding videos. I also own the Sony A7IV and find it to be a worthwhile upgrade over my Sony A7III.

    • @TheHybridShooter

      That is a very complicated question, GM II is the ultimate non-compromise option, Sigma is probably the best value, better than GM 1, Tamron G2 has focusing issues with A7 IV.

    Well… I’m finally going full frame completely. I can’t do it with micro four thirds anymore. I’m done being disappointed, the magic isn’t there anymore. My Leica M10 gives me so much better images than my Lumix G9 despite being an older not so advanced full frame camera.
    So I’m selling my entire MFT kit to buy the Sony A7IV with a Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 G2 and Sony 35mm f/1.8 FE. Love that they fixed the menus and fixed their godawful color science from the Sony A7III. And it’s nice to hear that the low light performance is the same as the A7III. If 12,800 is as clean as it was on the Sony A7III then I’m happy with it.
    Good video all around and tells me everything I wanted to know.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  Год назад +1

      Don't buy Tamron 28-75 G2 for A7 IV, there is some kind of FW incompatibly which negatively affects the autofocus. A7 IV and A7 III color science is 97% same, bad Sony color science is a myth dating back to 2014.

    The evf is very bad for video (in 25p and 24p). It nowhere nearly runs at the video framerate and is nauseating. In very bright environment it can be very handy to use an evf, somehow no-one mentions this in reviews... I guess everybody uses a monitor. That being said, I guess sony just doesn't test the evf in video at 25p or 24p because this is a software issue. In 50/60p the framerate of the evf is ok. Great camera and a superb hybrid.

      @professionalpotato4764 Год назад

      Almost all screens (including EVF screens) only playback in multiples of 30 anyway. It's 30/60/120hz. Screens that support native 24/25/30p playback are very expensive, Sony will not be bothered to put them in consumer cameras.
      If you're delivering for online publishing, you shouldn't even be shooting 24/25p either. That should be reserved exclusively for broadcast delivery. All online platforms force the 30p transcoding, making beautiful footage become jittery garbage. It's a pity cos I QC and prep shows for broadcast/online delivery and it sucks to see nice RED and ARRI footage look so bad once conformed into 30p.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  Год назад +5

      @@professionalpotato4764 Do you have anything to support that claim? Sony cameras have full NTSC / PAL switching, so the screen and EVF should at the very least be able run on PAL frequencies. It is a matter of software.
      The second part about forced 30p digital publishing is definitely not true. Maybe some property platforms force 30p, but vast majority of online publishing platforms, including RUclips support 24 / 25p with no issues.

    • @professionalpotato4764
      @professionalpotato4764 Год назад

      @@TheHybridShooter YT, FB, IG etc all do not support 24 or 25p publishing. It isn't obvious for static shots but becomes very clear for wide pans & especially drone shots. The transcoding to 30p must happen because conventional monitors only can only playback at 30/60/120hz. A 30hz or 120hz monitor in the case of the evf cannot playback at 24/25hz natively and the camera is transcoding real-time. TVs (and high end professional monitors) will support the respective NTSC or PAL formats, but YT won't know what device it is distributing to. It is cheaper on storage to conform everything to 30p and distribute it that way.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  Год назад +3

       @Professional Potato The stats that you get when you right-click on YT video say that it is 25p. I don't think that it is just hard transcoded to 30p. I'm not an expert on this, but I think that they lave the transcoding to the playback device if needed. It is a good topic though, I will ask Sony engineers whether there is 25/50/100 Hz display mode. I once asked why do they require rebooting the camera when switching to PAL / NTSC and he said that it switches the whole system, so I think that it is includes the monitor.
