    Great review of a great camera. Having read a couple of reviews of the new Nikon flagship camera, it is my opinion that Sony still has the best lineup of cameras and lens, third party included, of any of the major brands. There is enough overlap between models to satisfy anyone's needs. They are compact, lightweight, have state of the art sensors, displays and EVFs. Once set up, they just go. Autofocus is good enough to compete with anyone. Once in the system, you just pick the need and obtain whatever camera you need. All the lens fit without adapters, and the infrastructure is the best in the business. Maybe for the hard core journalists, the new Nikon flagship might work better because you can drop it off a tank and it will still work, but for everyone else, it is Sony by a mile/kilometer. The new A7 4 might cause some confusion between models, but I have a hunch that Sony will upgrading everything else by the spring time. Take care of yourself and stay safe.

    I have had the original R4 snce sep 2019 and completely concur with your review. The detail is incredible and one can reframe & recompose and get several dfferent images from the initial image. Also very useful in pan animations & visual lecturing wherein one can pan and emlarge on details - sometimes I use things that I could not see either with the lens or naked eye. In terms of lenses there are many lenses that perform better on this sensor and this can include both budget & film era lenses. The samyang tiny series does very well - the 24, 45 & 75 too. The new sigma series I have the 65 and 45. Some of the tamron lenses too & AF is better than the earlier models. Apart frpm the sny 90 macro which does well at all distances many of the older sigma macros do very well (105/2.8 & 180/5.6) Further it has a built in aps-c camera so even n vdeo mode a prime lens can have different fields of view. I can put a 300mm (slr or new tamron) on my waist pouch and get sensor zoom in a very light weight setup. It is a very versatile camera and the more one uses it the more one discovers more f ts potential.

    For a while I was having trouble getting sharp landscape photos with this camera at low shutter speeds but to anyone having that issue, make sure to turn on electronic first curtain shutter. It gets rid of all the shutter shock that happens around 1/60-1/320. 👍🏻

    • @TheHybridShooter

    Hi there.
    I am new to the channel, great reviews by the way.
    I just bought the A7R IV A, and have you noticed that in the front of the box it only says A7R IV and they don’t put the A?
    Do you know why is that?

      @@TheHybridShooter Well that's fascinating. I shoot with a Canon 5D4 and sensor dust also not much of an issue for me. Is there anything in particular you do or avoid doing to keep your Sony sensors free of dust? Myself, I just follow common sense procedures, such as keeping the camera facing down as much as possible. Also, I try to switch lenses either in a room that has freshly changed air, or outdoors in a non-dusty place. Any further tips? Thanks.
      I am thinking seriously of moving to Sony and would like to know all I can about the sensor dust prevention.

    Cool video, thank you. So basically, the A model offers just one upgrade, which is the better LCD screen, correct? All the rest is exactly the same as the original model. Another point is, that the camera can’t capture lossless compressed RAW, which is a pity for the storage management. You can shoot either compressed RAW, which is lossy, or uncompressed RAW, which is huge.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  3 года назад +3

      Yes, the only disclosed change is the screen. Working with compressed 61 MP RAWs would be extremely power demanding, so I wouldn't recommend that anyway.

    • @stevocem
      @stevocem 3 года назад

      @@TheHybridShooter I don’t think the A7R III can compress RAW in a lossless manner either, while competitor cameras with same megapixels can. But not a big deal.

    • @TheHybridShooter

      There is no competitor with 61 MP sensor. I don't know about A7R III.

    • @stevocem
      @stevocem 3 года назад

      @@TheHybridShooter Sure, 61 MP is the Sony only. It just sucks up a lot of storage due to lack of lossless compression. It is not a big issue, but I just say it would have been a bonus. Maybe in the future. The new A1 does offer it. I guess because of the much faster processor.

      When I switched from the Nikon z6 to the Sony a7riv I have had a grin on my face after every picture I take with the r4. I picked it up used a year ago for $2400 at my closest camera store. With it and the 90mm macro is great for portraits and detail shots at my weddings. Between it and the Sony 135mm gm they are the two sharpest lenses I have ever used. I picked up a a9 too and even though the auto focus is a lot faster on the a9, all those megapixels and details in the files from r4 keeps me always grabbing it over my a9. I thought about buying the new Sony a7iv and making it my back up camera but I know I will keep grabbing the r4 so I think I will keep what I have and wait to see if they come out with a new a7r5
