You don’t need to connect the vending machine to power for it to work as a player vendor - it’s just to light it up. Also, the wall pass-through conduit power connector is what you need to get power from outside to inside. There are a few merge-glitches that will help too.
@1:34 - No, vendor machines do not have to be powered to do trades. Their lightning and animations won't work without power, but they will still do trades. When they were originally introduced to the game they had to be powered to make your camp visible on the map, but that is no longer a mechanic in the game. Bobbleheads and Magazines move well in my experience. Magazines I typically sell at 50 caps a pop, Bobbles at the game recommended 100, but some are worth more like Small Guns. Live & Love 3 and the Leadership Bobblehead I don't trade as they are XP boost items I use myself. After running around with Perceptibobble and Panapticragraphist (or however that is spelled) you eventually memorize where they are and can pick them up at a fair clip - When I'm actively looking for them I can score at least one ever 5 minutes. If I have too more legendaries than I can scrip I will scrip sell them for 10 caps to the scrip. Unyielding Armor will fetch around 500 even without extra stars, allowing people to try out the bloodied build. Quad, Anti-Armor, Vampires and Bloodied are the weapon prefixes that will move even if the underlying weapon is iffy, so these can get at least 500 caps unless they are on something that's absolute trash like a rolling pin, pool cue or board.
