Thanks for the video. Did the GCR late July '24. 3rd time on this road. Did the xing west to east Southern X to Curtain Springs in 4 days which was nice and relaxed. Have done similar in two days previously but that was a long haul and would never do it again! Would recommend min 3 days to do it. Taking it easy much better. Free camped along the way. Road was completely dry - must have been a dry spell at the time. Can't remember seeing any roadworks at all. Couldn't be bothered lowering tyre pressures as there are considerable lengths of bitumen to traverse. Just left them at 40psi highway pressure all the way. Few bumpy sections but overall not too bad. Have only blown out one tyre on my 3 xings and that was likely by running over something on the road (like a piece of metal). Tyre was nicely sliced. This time no problems at all. Plenty of rubbish around at popular camp spots which is a shame. Great place to camp is at Giles Breakaway (which was nice and clean there with bins etc). Visting Warburton is an experience in itself. Overall really enjoyed my trip and would love to do it again.
Thanks for watching. The road is currently in pretty good condition and you will have no problem with your vehicle. Recommend tyre pressure dropped by 50%
When did you drive the Great Central? Is it since it reopened so in the last couple of days or is it prior to it closing…. Just trying to work it out! Thanks guys

What month was it that you drove across
How were the corrugations on the gravel sections? Thanks for the great rundown.
thanks for watching 🙏🏻 corrugations on GCR are relatively tame if tyre pressures are lowered (about 50% reduced) & drive to conditions
great Vid....
hey guys - great video! looking to do this in a AWD Nissan X-trail in a couple of weeks - how were the corrugations?

A couple of months ago, after a previous closure
@@greataussieodyssey ok thanks. We’re looking to cross it in July but know it’s only just opened now after being closed since Early March.
Hey may, do you think we can do that with a 2WD Van (length 5.6m hight2.8m width 1.8m) 4cylinder engine. Thanks for your help :))
yeah will be fine - just take it easy, lower tyre pressure & drive to conditions
@@greataussieodyssey thank you! We'll start tomorrow!
@@myrtheoosting8145 let us know how you go !
Nice to see road open again , rubbish is a big issue at free camps. Why can't people respect others and take there crap and dump it legally
A lot of the rubbish is from the locals
