    Ariane, I think this is my favorite so far! I can see your work becoming more free, more eclectic than it already was.
    As for the question about lining that someone else asked, I immediately thought, why? I’d rather see the inside, the structure, the bones, the beauty of how it all came together. Besides, if someone said it needed to be lined, I’d be rebellious and say no! Yup, I’m that rebellious child as well. 😁 I prefer freeform ways of making art. Who makes rules, and why should others follow? Who’s judging and who says those judges are the experts? I even buck medical advice, lol 😳. Oh, and don’t tell me I can’t do something. I’ll be the first to prove you wrong!
    Your work definitely belongs in a fiber arts show!
    Happy New Year my friend. Oh! And NYC - so cool to live there. Visited once back in the 70’s and loved it.❤

    OH MY!!!!!!! Now my College English teacher is going to roll over in her grave when I say this: Who would've thunk?!?!?!?!?!?!?! that flipping the process would be this successful. Great piece. You managed to conquer the piecing process and the embroidery process. As far as personal discipline and rebellion is concerned..........well, I've been a rebel since I can remember. Tell me that I can't do something and the hair on the back of my neck stands right up. Yes, of course, as we get older, we discern more how to respond to this. BUT the resolve doesn't change. There are some rules that just amuse me. So which process do you prefer?? The traditional or this new flipping?? or is it like comparing oranges with lemons. I especially like the feather, the stick and the tear-drop "beads". Blessings

    • @ArianeZurcher212
      @ArianeZurcher212  24 дня назад

      A fellow rebel in arms... I had a feeling about you, Alice! ❤️😂❤️
      That's such a great question - which process is preferable... I really enjoyed this and want to make another using the same technique (of course I do!!) It is much, much easier to form and shape with the wire, but the stitching is much more challenging. I do think it's like comparing apples and oranges. I love the ease and freedom of just stitching and doing whatever suits me in the moment, but then shaping and making the vessel stand and all of that is more difficult doing it the original way, unless it's a very small vessel, in which case no wire is needed. But beginning with the wire is really exciting because I can create exactly the size, shape and form I want, but doing a lot of hand stitching is more challenging, on the other hand, (😂😂😂) one can also do the stitching onto the different materials before placing it onto the wire shape, which is what I did on a number of occasions, so yeah, I really love both!

    What a beautiful piece, i love looking at it, knowing that there's more than face value and that there are demention and depth, what ever way you look at all things there is always more to it. Showing that you can start anywhere beginning, middle ,end or somewhere in between that there's a journey, just start.

    Once again I thank you for your video, for making so visible yourself - your reflections and beliefs, your process and product, your thinking and doing, your problem solving involving manipulation and respect for the materials. The problem with rules is that they are generally made to ensure safety for those who cannot think of care for themselves, so they can be useful guidelines. I continue to love how you say you don't know what to do, where you are going, but I see you are able to give things time, to revisit - I appears to work for me - I call it free unconscious computer of my brain whirring away in the background... Then when the time is right... I don't care when people laugh when I have ongoing projects for years because the inspiration when it comes is unbelievable. I think your videos speed up the process for me and so I thank you once again!

    I love your work because it really sparks ideas in my mind! I do have a question though, when you are preparing for a show with your 3D fiber pieces do you line your work (neutral color) for a "finished" look? In college I was always instructed to "line" my fiber work but to be honest, it got on my nerves sometimes? I just would like to hear your point of view and others points of view on this subject. Thank you!

      I have had a couple of shows and I lined everything. Boy my fingers were sore after that, lol. I am oil painting for an online show now that is showing in Feb. In Hamilton, Ontario. The pieces are 2D so that is easier. I would like to create more fiber work for my home but it long wonderful process for me when I am not oil painting.

      @@sharonneth4231 I lined all my vessels except for this last one because NOT lining it was part of the look of it. So if I did do a show I would line them if the vessel/sculpture was enclosed or seemed to require it, but not if it was more raw as this piece is, where seeing the “unfinished” part is part of the interest. As I worked on this piece I was thinking about how much I loved seeing the guts of it. “Looking on the inside out” was one title I came up with for it. ❤️

    • @sharonneth9106

      You have a wonderful point! I did not think of it that way? It's like revealing the "heart or soul " of the vessel! Then what you said before in the video about putting a disco ball inside the vessel it would be celebrating 🍾 the disco bunny 🐰 look if you love to dance as much as I love to! ❤ what a cute idea to say the least! Thank you so much for the time in answering my questions. I know you are busy so I will let you go. I just have to confess this, I love it when you produce videos because they make help me to think more conceptually like I did when I was much younger. 😊
