The only thing I can say about last year is that this year will be better. I lost my husband in September after his health slowly declined, and I'm still coming to terms with it. But I have turned to journaling and art journaling to figure things out. My word for this year is "renewal."

My year has been a down ward spiral of ill health and unbearable physical pain, and my family wanted to put me in an aged care home. Shock, horror, confrontation! So I started losing weight, decluttering, downsizing, and getting fit in every way possible. Now I need to say to my children-Do I look like I’m ready for an aged home? That , so far, has been unacknowledged. Mmmm…. I have transformed myself in so many ways. I am so proud of myself. I am now ready for a year of improvement, self care, becoming aware of life, the universe, my actions and thoughts and needs. And working a studio that is now full of space, not clutter. Cheers to you, Wendy, and to me!

I , too, tend to feel a bit down and suffer from “the Januarys”. Winter can feel so long and dark here in Canada so I am trying something new this year and leaving my Christmas tree up. It’s one of those skinny trees, so it doesn’t take up much space. I took all the Christmas decorations off and put up some pretty birds and a few glass beads to give it a bit more sparkle. I am planning on leaving it up until the end of February but, we’ll see! The light does a lot to lift my spirits and it does bring a smile to my face!

Hi Wendy, If my year was a movie what would it be called? I would have to say “Leaving The Past Behind”. My Mother passed suddenly at the end of 2023 and this year has seen a huge adjustment for my family. 😢 The grief and tears that have been shed not only because my Mum is no longer here, but the grief I feel for my family as we all drift apart at a time when we should have been there for each other. And the biggest realisation that I have to leave the past behind and forge a new path. It has not been an easy year so I am really hoping that 2025 will be a softer, kinder year for me and my family. I think we have had enough heartache for the time being. Thanks for your videos. They always gave me solace and comfort. You inspire me to be better. 😊❤

Snow today in Newcastle Upon Tyne so I did a wardrobe declutter and it feels like such a weight off. This year as a movie!!! The great untangling 😅 I will be 12 months sober (long list of things!) on Friday 10th!! Healed some trauma through therapy and am rediscovering myself at age 41!! I love this to summarise 2024....One day, she remembered that the only person who could make her happy was HERSELF! So she took back her power, re-claimed her place in the world and shined like never before! Happy New Year xx

    • @angelabay-jespersen6205
      @angelabay-jespersen6205 17 дней назад

What wonderful inspiration your comment is to me! Congratulations on being 12 months sober, what a huge achievement that is. It’s so great that you are rediscovering yourself now, at 41. You have so much time to explore who you are and what you love!
I’m 61 and have been diagnosed with Complex PTSD. I’ve yet to be able to access and therapy as is quite expensive and annoyingly 14 years ago I had an accident that stopped me working and I’ve ended up on a disability pension. So, I have to figure out how to help myself as best I can. One of my biggest joys this year was actually finding Wendy and her wonderful videos!
I’ve always loved art, since I was little but I was never allowed to learn it (mum was a narcissist, my sister and brother were favourites for different reasons and I was the “bad” one, the youngest, the outcast. I was the one who got in trouble, being beaten etc.
Anyway, then I married a narcissist who was also abusive. 🤣🤪
Anything I liked or loved doing was out of the question, except for my four children. It was because of them I eventually found the courage to leave. Then, just as I was starting to find myself for the very first time in my life, I had the car accident and here we are. I also have auto immune issues (no surprises there with my history, lol).
I am determined to do several things this year. Start an art journal practice, learn to draw, declutter, regular exercise, continue with eating healthier and trying to get our out and about more. At the moment i only go out for medical stuff or groceries. I live in the middle of suburbia with not a lot of nature nearby.
Decluttering is A HUGE job because my mum, dad and sister have all passed and since there’s only my brother (whom I rarely talk to) I’ve had to take on ALL their stuff to sort.
Art journaling, as I honestly think it will help with my trauma but also make ME happy. I just have to find/create a safe space to do it in. Drawing lessons, because I’m so much better in my head than in reality 😂 and in the meantime paint as best I can. I think Wendy said in one of her videos if you don’t know what to do, just swatch your supplies… so I’ll start there.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this part of your comment… “one day, she remembered that the only person who could make her happy was HERSELF! So she took back her power, re-claimed her place in the world and shined like never before!”
I want to be able to look back on 2025 and say I did that! I will shine when I can and cocoon when I need but overall, in 2025, I am going to shine like I never have before! Thank you for such an inspiring comment and apologies for the life story 😂🤪

    • @deesparklebazinga9374
      @deesparklebazinga9374 17 дней назад

@angelabay-jespersen6205 I love your comment and thank you. I have been housebound on and off for years with physical and mental health issues, so i have been unable to work but would love to again eventually. I had to learn to crawl before I could walk, I'm still crawling most days!
I gave up on the health care system for help as I had been trying to get therapy since aprox age 16. I ended up finding a charity that provided trauma therapy and joining an addiction support group (NA) which motivated me seeing others had changed their lives for the better (I didn't feel it was possible for me but I was desperate to do something!)
Decluttering for me has been waiting to happen since 2012 due to leaks/floods and mould in my property that finally was resolved last year (the pipe burst, so they found it and FINALLY fixed it). Everything had to be redecorated from scratch with minimal insurance payout, but I'm now gradually getting through all of the boxes that have been waiting to be sorted through. It feels so amazing to manage even small achievements, and it's a weight lifted as I get more organised and let go of stuff I don't need.
I prioritised an art/craft area when redecorating but am still overwhelmed with the huge amount of art supplies I have accumulated so trying to donate some to charities to free up space. I have also started with doing swatches and am sorting through my scraps to seperate things that inspire me currently. I have a huge canvas that I want to start a vision board on to get me into creative flow again. I'm hoping this will help with my block with art journaling but I have started sticking some pages of my art journal 😅
I have found that changing one daily routine has helped me build confidence to try more.
I am trying to learn to listen to my body more so I don't burn-out constantly, but with reducing and stopping prescribed medication (on top of being sober) has a huge impact so I have had to learn self-care/self-compassion and patience while learning to ground myself repeatedly!!
I wish you all the best, big hugs x

I have just recently found you, and I want to tell you Wendy - you are a peach! I have loved watching the video content you create, and it's magical to watch you paint and draw. I will be 53 in a few weeks, and it's been a real struggle for me - aging, and becoming an empty nester. In the last 3 years, my oldest daughter graduated from college, married, graduated from another post-college institute, moved across the country, and is now newly pregnant. My youngest daughter has started university and moved to the dorms. I hit menopause, and I feel like I've also hit a wall. I have been struggling to find my place now that my life has changed so drastically and it's been a difficult journey for me. I have been restless and struggling to find purpose and to remember who I was before motherhood, and trying to reclaim that girl. You are so delightful and your content brings me so much joy. I feel like if you were here in the Midwest plains of America, or if I was there, I would invite you to tea in a heartbeat. Thank you for being so authentic and so honest. You're wonderful. I you're also right - the hat is adorable!

For 2025 I chose the Word Intention “Artistic”, and am exploring ‘The Artist’ archetype. Unlike my earlier archetypal research with Carolyn Myss and Dr Irina Webster, This time I am being led to choose my dominant archetypes, or which one is ‘the artist’. So I watched a YT video ‘The Power of the Artist Archetype’, and the conversation dwelt upon ‘the Muse’ or ‘the Archetype’. Wendy, do you have thoughts on the difference?

The word for 2024 was burnout. This year will have to be better because I had a really toxic manager and (thank GOD) he retired. Much better manager now. I can now sleep through the night without waking up from nightmares about work. It’s taken a few months to get here, but I’m starting to feel like myself again. Like you, I want to prioritize my time for creativity and just being with myself. I’m a quilter, and can get lost for hours thinking about just the task in front of me - it’s very soothing. Love the hat, am now looking for some sort of pattern so maybe I can knit one for myself. 😊

    A story of you
It’s how you put down the spoon
Gently, in soft motion, with precise intent
Imagine the flight of the hummingbird
    Ethereal and purposeful
It’s the cat’s graceful jump on your lap
    Purring warmly
It’s the quiet smile given to a stranger
    Just walking by
This morning I listen to the silences
And I am reminded of you
It’s the complicit glance friends share
    Hearing all that is unsaid
    The delicate and privileged touch
Of a snowflake landing on your face
This morning I listen to the silences
    And I hear you
    In the bewitching final note
    Floating from the sad melody
    On the piano
    On this ordinary day
This morning I heard the silences
Telling me a story gentle and true
    Of might and strength unloud
    A story of you
It’s how you put down the spoon

Here here to a new year of new and hopeful beginnings! I am loving the new videos and reading through the comments, all of your viewers sound so wonderful and friendly. I enjoy reading through everyone's posts.
For me, I think 2024 was not horrible, but it certainly wasn't great, either. This is my second channel for my art and craft projects, but I haven't uploaded anything in a year. I have another personal channel for other things that I don't upload any videos to.
Two years ago I took on the role of caregiver for my elderly father and am living with him. So, I don't have the time I'd like to dedicate to doing my art (although I did produce 3 small oil pastel paintings that I'm proud of last year), and I edit my own videos as well so I struggle to get them edited and uploaded. I get my creative fix by living vicariously through your wonderful videos... they are like therapy. I am so glad that you are making positive changes in your diet and streamlining your living space (I need to do that too!). I like to use old calendars and planners for mixed media sketchbooks. For the planners, I removed about half the pages, which I either recycle or reuse. I glued the remaining pages together in 5-page sections to make sturdier pages, and then I use old brayer paper or mediocre gel prints or cleaner pages and put down some collage backgrounds, or just gesso the pages for painting. It works with my kind of punkish, "trash goblin" style and makes me very happy - as well as being free art supplies! Today I cleaned my workspace (which also, all too often, reflects "trash goblin" in a less practical way!) and I'm gessoing planner pages while watching your video. I hope you had a warm Solstice, a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year, and may 2025 be filled with lots of sweet, yummy chocolate and surprise windfall art supplies for you!

@@juliairwin4481 these are freebie calendars that the printers our theatre works with send us as promotionals, filled with old Saturdays Evening Post illustrations, but most of the images are getting covered in gesso and/or collage paper. I use the planner/calendar sketchbooks as a place to experiment and not feel very serious about my work (I am "cursed" with professional training) or care if things look perfect or professional. It's here I experiment with abstraction, or try new techniques.

The videos of you and your life inspire me all the time, Wendy! Looking back, 2024 was an incredible Year Of Transition for me personally, globally, universally. I am welcoming 2025 with open arms, heart and soul. I'm calling 2025 the Year Of Manifestation; I'm minding my thoughts, words and actions. Peace and aligning with high vibration are front and center in my mind, body and spirit. I love your Light and Energy Wendy! I'm so happy for your & James' success searching and buying your home together. I look forward to your evolving forays and growth this year! Love and Light 🙏💓

movie: "Letting Go". Highlights-challenges of travel, health/cancer treatment, and the death of my mother. Found my resilience in always turning to my art through it all, letting go of people, beliefs, and feelings to make room for new experiences, feelings, and future challenges.

Wendy I appreciate you so much and enjoy your videos each and every one. You have done so well this past year with making goals and following through. You are an inspiration for us and I can see a difference in you. There is a glow about you that I thought may had been attributed to you becoming a grandmother as that tends to do that to a lot of us when we become grandmothers. But you have proven by changing your eating and drinking habits and doing the big declutter that it definitely shows on you. I absolutely loved the top you bought that you said reminded you of your grandmother. 💓I am happy for you that you are taking another art class. You have a natural talent as an artist no doubt however it’s nice to continue to learn. I bet you will really enjoy going to that class. As always I look forward to seeing your next video. Happy New Year to you and James and of course your daughter, son in law and little granddaughter……God bless….Lisa 🤗💓🙏

Such fun to look back on the last year with you Wendy. I’m coming 70 this year so it’s a real special time for myself realizing I’m expected by so many to be old 🤣🤣🤣 The last year was an emotional ride, almost like I had gone through menopause again after 35 years. So, as a movie it would be called “REBIRTH’. It really is exciting to now have my energy to go forward, free to be the crazy wild me again. Multimedia & nature will be the top runners of life and have choose to embrace the ridding of what I want without the guilt thinking ‘someone may want that’.
I saw this the other day & found I was smiling while reading as it personified the way I was brushing off my worries of what the world has been & to open a new year. Sharing it here.
The first stanza of Rudyard Kipling’s “New Year’s Resolutions” perfectly captures this allowance for wiggle room:
    “I am resolved-throughout the year
    To lay my vices on the shelf;
A godly, sober course to steer
And love my neighbours as myself-
    Excepting always two or three
Whom I detest as they hate me.”
    Cheers to all 🍻🎉🇨🇦

Thank you Wendy for sharing your 2024 with us. And your pre- Christmas fun! I bravely did a two week solo adventure in Spain in Spring. Then after that, tore a knee ligament. Long story short, had full knee replacement surgery in Autumn. Slow, painful recovery. But rewarded myself with spending Christmas week in sunny Spain! Met lovely people. Walked daily with my new knee! I plan new adventures in 2025. Major decluttering. Improving my painting skills. And more ....Happy New Year to you and James..❤❤🎉🎉

Oh how I love Your wee treats for doing the Studio . Because of Your videos I finally started on my wee Witchy Lair and actually found half the Floor as well as so many Treasures . I even had enough space to do a Belly dance . You are like a Wee Fairy sitting on my shoulder cheering me on!! Thanks ever so much . I was also guided to go to the local Antique Market which is closing down, They are only open on the first weekend of each month and I said to my Darling I need to go, he laughed saying He thought our house was full but I had heard "The Whisperings" and said I need to go for storage ...1st thing I saw was a cushion with a Unicorn and Lion Medieval style which made m stop, I turned and saw the most perfect Oak Cabinet !! I have been looking for one for years and this was even better than the ones I imagined . I TRULY BELIEVE IT WAS A GIVE FROM THE UNIVERSE FOR FINALLY STARTING THE GREAT DECLUTTER !! We JUST squeezed it in the back of our car , fit perfectly and have filled it with My Treasures from inside, which has helped my declutter Dining room . It is like a game of Tetris but slowly getting it how I imagined . SO GRATEFUL FOR YOU encouraging us all here . I may need hypnosis to help clear out all the costuming racks in Playroom and upstairs but I am looking forward to only a few racks instead of 7 lol will let You know how I get on . Grizi x PS I will treat myself some dangly things, Festoon lights for courtyard and Fairy Lights ...dangling the thought in front of me to keep me moving hahaha

Happy New Year! I'm so excited for you. It sounds like the transition of last year has been a springboard to a wonderful start for 2025.
This past year was "Groundhog Day" for me. Lots of false starts, setbacks, and seemingly making little progress...until I stopped fighting, and decided to work within my energy levels and just taking each day as an opportunity to work, rest, and play.
I'm looking forward to this year being a healthier and more positive year. 🤞
Wishing everyone a healthy, happy, and safe year. Love and light always 🧡❤️💜✨✨✨

Hello From Northern California,: As for 2024: Stressed and Worried all the time: The mini-series," I am going to work on not being both, this year...and tend to let things really get to me, such as external crap out in the world, in the country I live in and in general about what is going to happen next...So, just being present and mindful of this is my goal. Also, I've always been a pretty conscious foodie and in recent years have slipped off this wagon, so that is another biggy for me this year just remember who I am and what is important in life and not dwelling on crap I can not control or have little control over, but enough to walk away and choose what I am willing to let affect my day to day well-being.
Happy New year and many blessings, joys, love, and abundance to you and your lovely family.

Listening to you discuss your health goals I was thinking how it all should be how I approach the totality of my life. Immediate gratification esp during depressing times seems such a simple fix but, as you said, will not sustain you in a good way. Sugar is a very real addiction for me and I know it. Dairy is another problem for me. TY for expressing your goals and encouraging the rest of us. Best to you and James and your family. A very good 2025 for you all.

Thank you so much Wendy and family for sharing a snippet of your wonderful family Christmas, for sharing the past year with us❤ I have an unknown health condition that was thought to be fibromyalgia but my legs go numb, blue and painful whenever I sit at a chair or stand, this has seen me going from walking everywhere to in a mobility bed and wheelchair. Like you I started a declutter process and love making art, many days I just don’t have the strength to do art but your videos sustain my creative side and soothe my soul🫶 I’ve developed panic attacks for the first time and whenever I’m stressed I just play one of you videos and it calms me, I honestly can’t thank you and James enough and I pray you and your family have an incredibly blessed 2025🙏 All my love Marnie🌹

Love, love, love you Wendy!!! You so inspire me!! Have been looking so forward to this video...just needed to see your smiles and hear your wisdom!! How is it that every hat looks so adorable on you?! Ha, when you asked to list a movie title for this past year, the first thing that came to mind was "Throw Momma From The Train"!!! It's been a challenge of a year and one that felt as if I wasn't even being cinsidered a part of it! All my hopes and goals were tossed in order to care and house my daughter and granddaughters due to my soon to be ex son-in-law selling the house out from under his family. It's been emotionally, physically, financially, and creatively challenging. But if I step back and look at the big picture, the title would have to be "Love Actually". The love for my family, the love of my husband to help me through the hard times, the love for my friends and especially the love, prayers, and support I received from my closest gurlfriends that kept me sane, kept me laughing, and took me away on adventures to reset and relax!! They have also kept me pushed in the direction to keep creating even when I thought I had nothing inside. I should count you among them! 😊 Going to put forth similar intentions this year as you have done. I desperately need to eat better, walk more, designate creativity as a priority, journal, and continue my adventures with my girlfriends as they help me to get out of my introverted box!!! My biggest intention will be to save money so I can finally travel to Europe! Oh, to paint outdoors in those old cities and beautiful landscapes!! So my word for the coming year will be "Intentions", not goals, not to do lists, but true intentions to better my life, to be intent and deliberate! Thank you so much for encouraging all of us creative spirits out here, you are a blessing! Oh, and I adore your "little ladies" you painted! They have such beautiful expressions and you just get better and better at it! Happy New Year!!!❤
