Just rediscovered Jim Croce. I listened to a couple of his around 1972 when I was 7 going on 8 years old. I wasn't old enough to appreciate him then, but now I'm pushing 60. A life of highs, lows, of my little triumphs and defeats has given me a real appreciation and love for his songs. The man was undoubtedly a poet, and together with Maury (I think that's how it's spelt) was part of an amazing duo. I only wish that I had started listening 45 years ago...
I'm getting up near 60 too. The line "you can keep the dime" hits hard. I've lost plenty over years. It's remarkable that Jim was such a young man and had such wisdom. What a legend he was. RIP.
One of my very favorite songs and one of my favorite singers. For some reason I remembered it and especially wanted to hear it the other day. Thank you for this. God be with you out there everybody. ✝️ :)
I dedicate this song to all the ladies and gentlemen who are working at 411...You have always guided me to the party I require to speak to..This message is around the Christmas time 2023 and I know some of you have to work..but I hope you had time to spend time with family and friends over the holiday period. If not for you folks we'd be lost.. God love you❤❤❤❤❤❤
Could someone tell me why is it I always discover the profound meaning of these familiar songs late in life because I never paid attention to the lyrics when I was young, then they hit me like a punch in the stomach as the realisation in?
I think a lot of people are like that, including myself. I'll be 50 this month and I notice I listen to the lyrics more now instead of just the music. I misheard so many lyrics when I was younger lol. I feel silly when I find the correct words out. Yeah, definitely not just you.
Pain in it's various forms is often the golden ticket for change and growth. Find Jesus if you are humble enough to admit you need The Savior.🎉🎉😂😂🎉😂🎉😂🎉🎉😂❤❤❤🙏👍😀

Your there now and you can feel how amazing this man was.
I absolutely love this song. Many people don’t actually listen to they lyrics and the story completely escapes them.
One of the most sublime, humble, open soul and sensitive songs of all time. Never fails to tear-up my eyes as well.....
Such a great talent. I can't begin to imagine what he would have achieved and the music he would grace the world with if he hadn't died so young.
He accomplished so much as such a young man. A lifetime of his creations would have been beyond belief.
What a legend he was. This song is a masterpiece. Jim, you are missed.
An upbeat music with sad lyrics. That's insanely genius.
Love it. Hits me right in the heart every time. He died much too soon. 😩
This song hits me deep, everytime. Well done Jim.
You can keep the dime. Simple line, pure genius.
Who ever said, it's better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all, never loved.
What a statement.
Ya think!!!!

He broke it down with those lyrics.

One of my fave singers/musicians of all time. Taken way too soon.
I couldn’t believe there was only 9 comments, but they are all top quality, fantastic
Good song I used to listen to it every morning before I go to school.
♬‧*˚✧♬‧*˚✧ .. Great songwriter .. very under-rated.
I loooove it !

I'm always shocked by Jim's insight into life as such a young man. God hasn't make many like him.
