I'm about 26 years early and currently planning for my homestead. I just started to do some research on here before I go to the library to study more in depth. if you have any tips, please feel free to leave them down below
me too, its interesting that we are both the same age planning the same thing watching the same video 24 hrs apart-maybe just different continents, let's link up and share our progress
My advice is buy the land and get started. Learning occurs by doing when running a farm or homestead. If you don’t have the means to buy yet, focus on making money. Everything else is a distraction right now.
I want to let you I really admire your work and I'm very proud to hear you say you quit your line of work in the oil and gas industry. I live smack in the middle of a formation called the BAKKEN in ND and I hate it, I've recently been studying on permaculture and homesteading to be more self sustaining and not so reliable on oil and gras products. I've watched your videos and and very happy you share your work and it goes a long way. I live on a private 5 acres, but unfortunately theres a well pad abut half mile behind my house and I'm so so so rebellious when it comes to the oil field, I wish more ppl would come to the realization that green energy is the way to go and it doesn't take much to be more self sustaining. and I'm looking forward to this spring many projects to be completed
I've listened to this gentleman before and have the same reaction. He talks around the subject and really says NOTHING about what the title of the talk promises. He rambles all over the landscape, but tells us nothing specific in this talk about the actual design of resilient homesteads. Did I miss something?
I was debating to leave a carbon copy of your comment I about to check out some more of his videos it 2022 hopefully he is more informative he has a lot of content
@@VergePermaculture what he's trying to say is that we have a choice on videos to watch and it's important to be as efficient as possible. It makes sense to get to the point or at least introduce what the payoff of investing time in this video is going to be. If you take too long to get to the point, people will move on.
From Cochrane looking to help a friend write a farm grant. He has 20 acres. We could use some advice on what enterprises would be best for this property.
With finance you should use the same methodology as he is talking about, diversity is a strength in this as well as ecologically. I prefer tangible assets to paper every time though, the growth isn't as fast, but the losses aren't as drastic either.
I am ready to quit my job. My wife and 2 kids buy some land (5 acres) and start to homesteading. Scary and the kids have neighborhood friends and a great school. That's the only thing holding us back. Anyone else?
THE PROBLEM I HAVE WITH JUST GOING ON GARDENING IN ONLY YOUR AREA IS THINGS LIKE FRUIT LIKE ORANGES AND OTHER FRUIT LIKE THAT YOU HAVE TO GET FROM OTHER AREA'S IF THEY DON'T SHIP THEM WE WOULDN'T HAVE IT.
Love love love babies! Why oh why do people bring in to lectures?? Distracting!!! Ugh! I know I know I sound like scrooge and yes, the baby is giving a lesson on chaos ...bah blah. 😉
Well you didn’t manage to hook me. Heard a lot of talking but nothing on designing a homestead and the do’s and don’ts. Might want to change the description of the video. Sound like it should be something along the lines of changing the way we live. Great encouragement video but not very informative.
It's pretty easy to make predictions actually. Here is one: it will go dark in 12 hours and then light again Here another: autum follows summer Here another: trees grow and then decay Here another: Civilisations grow and then decay (Earth is littered with past civilisation remains) That was actually really easy. 😊 Forget about Civilisation, do permaculture because its beautiful and natural, any other reason is flawed, youd have to be mad to want to save this civilisation, it's the most destructive and ignorant society to ever exist yet.. Permi's and tribal people will be fine, the rest of society...well...👋 bye bye
I freaking well did not click on this to listen to a freaking lecture on how bad mankind is to the planet, I just wanted to listen to how to design a resilient home farm, thumbs down for you

"Whoever controls our story controls the direction of our society." I am hooked. Thank you.
Gee great video! I really learned alot watching you talk about bs for 16 min
And here I am in 2021 completely conscient of what this guy is talking about. It's time to shift paradigms.

I felt the same way.
Exactly… expected details on the title too.
Yep. Came here to research homestead design and learned why I should do this not how.

There is nothing more satisfying than eating the fruits of your labor
Wow just stumbled across this channel. Awesome content, I can’t wait to harvest all the knowledge set forth here. Appreciate it.

This is more of why? But title suggests How? There is no Designs explained here. I think it as clikckbait.
I am hoping the next one is better since this is a series.
You hit the nail on the head. I was really disapointed.
IN THE OLD TESTAMENT THE ALMIGHTY GIVES INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO FARM
Lots of info here. Missed out one some key concepts. Biopholic design is one. Keep up the great work.
How about square foot gardening and food foresting?
Thank you for sharing informative and helpful videos!
Is this clickbait because I watched episodes and I haven't seen any designs or plans ? Hello 🤔
Love this. It doesn't take much to change

Hire him as a consultant
My man dropped some heat in the first few minutes.
The biggest barrier to change is between our ears.
I feel exactly the same how everybody pressures me to put my money into gold or something like stocks but I decided to invest my money on land

Wasn't expecting a summary of Antifragile here, at least cite the author, lol.

Understanding the "why" is just as, if not more important than the "how".
OK I give up. leaving to find another video with some tips where I do not have to listen to blah blah blah and no relevant information
