11 years of back yard RUclips. Thats some real dedication. Don’t give up (:
Thanks! BB
You are the bomb, my friend! It has been a few years, and I still go back to, Identifying Backyard birds!
Things are changing here in the Finger Lakes Region of NY! I have had my rose breasted grosbeak leave, and everyone else is digging in. I provide food all year round with no fillers and only high quality ingredients at appropriate times.
It is always a pleasure!
Good for you! the Birds will love it come Winter. I didn't get the usual influx of Grosbeaks yet, maybe soon. BB
Nice pictures of the sunspots.I use a much smaller one which is a 25mm Pocket Borg refractor and Baader Solar film which gives very nice views of the sunspots.
Thanks, yes solar film will work on any number of optics, but you got to be careful! BB
i love it :) it looks great and super fun
It was! BB
Ha! totally neato.
It is a blast! BB
Press: How on Earth do you fellows plan to land on the SUN?!
Scientists: *We will go at night!*
That's Brilliant!! BB
Would a moon filter make it look better? By itself looks kinda.. bland? I guess.
In your opinion, do you think that just buying a solar filter would be exactly the same as this telescope but a fraction of the cost?
The cheap paper mounted filters are not really good for cameras and scopes etc, but they work, you can get better quality fit and finish solar filters for telephoto lenses, spotting scope and telescopes, but here's the thing - you make one mistake and you could never see right again the rest of your life, so remember that. I personally would only look through the LCD etc. screen of camera or phone etc pointed at the sun and never directly into the eyepiece with a temporary filter attached. BB
I have glass solar filters for two of my scopes - 8” Dobsonian reflector and 120mm refractor - and a film solar filter for my ShortTube 80mm refractor, and they all work great and are perfectly safe, as long as you handle them with care and dispose of them if they ever get scratched or cracked. I’ve been using them for years with no issues. I bought them through a reputable company that sells them for different size scopes. Just don’t ever use anything but real solar filters. As far as cost, you can buy this little solar scope for the same or less than the cost of a single glass filter. The film ones are much more affordable and work well.
My sundial doesn't work. I got the shadow in the center, and nothing is in the scope. I feel like I wasted my money.
That's odd have you tried the full range of focus on the eyepiece? In the video I put a phone adapter on mine and it was pretty awesome. Good luck.
