Just drove a total of 7 hours, because I wanted to see the 3 minutes of totality. This video gave me the push and...it was worth every. Single. Moment. It was beyond breathtaking
Same!! Made the trip and saw the shadow bands because of THIS VIDEO! NJ to NY state, left at 6am, got home at 3am. I'd do it again today if it was an option haha
We drove 16 hours both ways, and it was worth going twice that far!! I would do it again in a heartbeat! I can hardly talk about it without the tears coming back.

@@lunedogg I thought I was going to cry 100% because it’s something I’ve been dreaming of seeing in person for a very long time. Funny thing was. I was so speechless and blown away. My brain legitimately broke. I was on autopilot for 3 1/2 minutes. I felt like I was on a cloud the entire time. Apparently my brain didn’t want to function enough to make me cry lol
I was in Dallas Texas and there were surrounding cities that had more visitors than the normal population of the town/city it was wild I thought they were crazy until I sat in my backyard watching it
Post eclipse comment: Thank you Destin!!!… it is because of this video that we drove up 3 1/2 hours to the path of totality. Took our 8th grader out of school and went for it. We were prepared to watch for everything!
And got the app, unfortunately we went to a place out of reach of even GPS signal so it was about 10 minutes off, it took our last location, but that’s okay because we knew what to lookout out for. When we saw the shadow bands we all screamed! 🐍 Thank you for helping us decide to take the trip and for all of the fun things to look for! Memories for a lifetime! 🌕☀️
Awesome choice! A colleague of mine put it well: There are things in life that you can hear descriptions of, see pictures and watch video of, and hear stories from people who have been there and seen them. You know about those things rationally and that's great. But until you've actually been to the Grand Canyon and seen how vast it really is, or stood in a gallery of fine art, or watched the Moon completely cover the face of the Sun, you haven't experienced them emotionally. That emotional experience is transformative, and it provides a depth of meaning to the rational information you have that cannot be gained otherwise.
Never commented on a video. But I felt the need to comment on this one because this was literally the video that informed me that the eclipse was happening. I missed the last one regrettably, so I after watching this instantly booked a hotel and drove 4 hours to see it. There truly are no words to describe how it was. Except as Michael Steven’s said “Awesome”. Your brain breaks, you get emotional. You just can’t believe the thing you’re seeing. I’m just wanting to thank you for informing me about this and I want to reiterate what you said in this video. If you EVER have the chance to see a total eclipse. See it. There is no way to hype it up too much.
Which venue did you watch the eclipse in? How much were the tickets?
The eclipse in Salem Oregon a few years back was such a cool experience. Right after the eclipse a raccoon started walking in the park in the middle of the day-poor little guy was as confused as we were.

Yeah all the birds stop chirping, squirrels all hide, crickets become very loud, owls come out or even hoot, etc. very cool experience if you can find a spot you can see the sky while in the woods, which I did during the previous one.
The birds got quiet. And there were fires which made it even more eerie

Totality in Madras Oregon 2017 was AWESOME.
My advice: 1.Don't get so wrapped up in trying to take pictures of totality that you miss it. Try to take in what is going on around you. (There will be thousands of professional pictures available online. Only you can take pictures of your family and friends' reactions experiencing this incredible moment. those are our favorite pictures)
2. Try to be out in a field where you can feel the temperature change the most.
3. Get to wherever you want to view extremely early.
3b. Monitor the weather days ahead and have alternate sites planned.
4. Have a full tank of gas, water, and food for 2 days, and something to pee in. Anticipate traffic, even in the middle of nowhere, being gridlocked for hours, if not most of the day.
5. Do not plan on being able to be back at work the next day on time if you have to travel.
6. GO! I hope everyone can experience this at least once in their lifetime. Enjoy the moment.
dont underestimate #4 and 5, that was a wild ride immediately following the 2017 eclipse. 8hrs to LEAVE Kentucky borders, then 8 more back to our home lol
do rules 4-6 apply if I already go to work in the path of the totality? How bad will the drive home that day be (dallas)? (its usually 40 mins)
I was in Roseburg for it and it was great!
We lived in Salem then, and there were people from all over the place coming there to watch it. They were camping out in parking lots and at the fairgrounds and at the capitol and stuff. Very weird, but memorable!
@@antiprime4665it depends how central you are in the path I think. I lived right on the outskirts of the 2017 eclipse and I don’t remember any bad traffic

Did you see it? We traveled to see it, and I'm so glad I did. It was so much more than I was expecting.
Just got home from a 15 hours round trip from Las Vegas to Dallas just for the eclipse and I'm so Glad I did. What an amazing, thrilling and emotional experience. The fact that I got to share the experience and my equipment with a few dozen strangers made it even more worth while. Thank you Destin for all your tips and suggestions.

I saw it in 2017, and it was really fantastic.
I would recommend that people ignore the filming and taking pictures.
Let others do that. You can just get those on the internet.

THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO! We took our 4 kids 5 hours away to the path of totality. We used the app you recommended. We saw the fuzzy and sharp shadows. We did pinhole projection papers. We saw the shadow snakes. We were in awe of the Creator for 3 minutes of unbelievable darkness! Thanks for giving us this gift!
ive tried inviting everyone i know to come and see it with me, and they just tell me its a waste of time and money. It makes me truly sad and im contemplating on just going alone 😔

I live in a town that’s directly in the path of the eclipse. They are estimating our population is going to quadruple. And as excited as I am about it, it is going to suck lol.
UPDATE: My town embraced everyone! From the UK to Hong Kong we had tons of visitors who came! Everything went off without a hitch and I couldn’t be more proud of my community! What a beautiful event and a beautiful time to live!

Well, I have family in the Adirondacks and there is nobody up there now... nobody...campsites are closed, ferry is closed, snow fall and weather will dictate who will be there, and its April...it could still have snow.

I drove 400 miles for the 2017 totality. Words escape the feeling. It can't believe that I'm able to see another one, because it felt like a once in a lifetime experience.

I went to stay with my former s-i-l and watch it in her back yard but she mentioned that Tennessee Tech was having an event at their stadium...I was the first one in the stadium... Several hours before. 🤗 It was so cool. They played all kinds of music relating to the sun and the moon.

@danceteachermom nice! I am across the border in WI. Went straight down to Missouri and stayed with family in Iowa instead of coming straight home. The traffic was busy getting there, but absolutely insane after the eclipse. I'm glad I didn't have to drive all the way back the same day.
Just experienced this eclipse in southeast Oklahoma. Cloud cover broke 20 minutes before totality. It was amazing to see it in person!
Me and my wife were in Hugo OK at that time. We drove 9 hours to be there and it is the best road trip I have ever taken

Our house was in totality in 2017. We invited as many people as we could from our old neighborhood in an adjacent state. I was surprised by how many people weren't interested, but the families who came were all blown away. I highly recommend it.

2017 Eclipse went over my hometown. We gathered outside with the family and dozens of strangers, watched with the safety of our glasses, and enjoyed totality without them. Looking at the weird crescent moon shadows, the moments leading up, the event itself... The only way I know how to describe it is "emotional." It was like a primal trigger clicked in my brain. To this day when I think back on it I'm nearly on the verge of tears - it was awesome in the most literal sense.

Gog to take my family to see it in Wooster, Ohio. IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. We got around 3 minutes of dark, but it's like a really rare roller coaster. My kids were excited going into it, and mindblown once it actually happened.
I gotta thank you, Destin, because when I first watched this video, it made me start planning to bring my family to it, whereas before I really had no plans to go.

Thank you for your videos. I teach 6th grade science and constantly use your videos in my class and in my "video libraries" (collections of videos that kids are allowed to watch when they finish work early), and my wife and I watch every new video eating dinner. I re-watched this one this morning as we were making final preparations for the eclipse. We live in the totality band, so we were able to invite all of the family over and have a cook out. The forecast was terrible and predicted to be heavy clouds... the forecast was botched. There were clouds, but they were far between. From the moment of C1 and the alarms started sounding on my phone (the eclipse app), I had goose bumps. I could not believe the weather cleared. I have hundreds of photos to process through and a time lapse thanks to a GoPro. I have only looked at a few of the pics from totality and my mind is blown. The most stunning so far is a pic at C3 that shows the smallest edge of the sun along with red flares (they look like solar flares in the picture, not sure what to call them yet). Thank you again for your work and your videos.
Destin, after watching a selection of your videos, I thought to myself how much I enjoy and appreciate the content you provide. While doing this I had a similar feeling that you described while watching the wonderful human being that was Fred Rogers. I couldn’t put it together in the moment, but as soon as I was the portrait in this video I exclaimed out loud “that’s it!” realizing that was the comparison I had been missing. I firmly believe your work is piquing the interest of kids and adults alike, and inspiring them to chase their dreams. The in depth information, yet distilled for all audiences, is a testament to your passion to make us all Smarter Every Day. The path was about 40 minutes north of my home in 2017. I tried to convince friends and neighbors to travel with me North to Experience the total experience, where I lived just missed totality and I knew the experience at home, as cool as it might seem, would not compare to the experience of witnessing the eclipse directly in the totality path. I ended up driving North alone. I was worried about all the traffic that should have been heading to the path. I didn't run into any traffic, but it's a factor to consider on your trip if you decide to go yourself. The experience was spectacular. I feel sorry my friends and family were so close to having the same experience but just didn't want to? Their mistake. Don't make that mistake. Even if it's a full day's drive, go for it.
I drove 3 hours to experience the 2017 eclipse and it took 5-1/2 hours to drive home because traffic was so heavy (totally worth it). I'll be going to arkansas to view the April eclipse but this time I've booked 2 days at a hotel to hopefully avoid some traffic, I'm very excited!
@@katpea3641my husband and I drove 2 hours to be in the path of totality for the 2017 eclipse, and it was SO worth it! We became eclipse junkies. We’re driving to Arkansas too, Hot Springs, to experience that eclipse. So looking forward to it! I pray for cloudless skies for all in the path of totality! It’s the last total solar eclipse across the U.S. for at least 50 years, so I won’t be alive for any future ones.
There was no traffic to deal with in Oregon going down the day before, neither during the drive to the random viewpoint.
On return as we reached the freeway the traffic became a nightmare, decided to exit the freeway to local roads and
inched our way toward home for 12 hours. Still had to take a long nap break at a local business before finishing
the trip home in commuter traffic. It was worth it. Can’t say I noticed a temperature drop, forgot to note the ring of pearls, the shadowy moving waves on the ground, didn’t bring anything to view the crescent shadows either so missed that too. It was a short two minutes. I did look around for the nighttime effect, can’t say now whether I saw any stars
come out or not. The white corona was awesome, the highlight! Then the blast of bright white sunlight when totality was over
let you know it was over indeed! The streaky white corona was not to be missed!

I was in WY for the 2017 eclpise. I was prepared for a kumbaya harmony kind of mystical event.
What I experienced was a birds stopped chirping, it got cold and dark really fast. My lymbic system was on high alert. Bring back that sun. Without the sun, we are dead.
It was an amazing experience.
The solar eclipse in 2017 happened in my backyard. I was a young adult and had been waiting for that eclipse for about a decade. Even with all of that anticipation, it still blew my mind! My heart was racing as I took it all in. It was truly one of the most unique experiences I’ve had in my life, and I WILL be doing everything I possibly can to see this next one.

One awesome thing nobody mentioned though: the false sunrise from the west at the end! Seeing that pink and purple haze from the wrong direction was mind-blowing!

Hi, Great video! I’m a self taught astronomer/eclipse chaser. I live in Ingersoll, Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 I have to travel 5 minutes from my home to see totality. This will be my 6th total. I have travelled thousands of miles/kilometres to watch this amazing spectacle. I drove 30 hours to catch the annular eclipse in October. The best is a total without a doubt. I would like to purchase the doctor’s book. I’ll watch the video again to learn his last name. Praying for clear skies! ♥️
Saw the eclipse a few years ago that also crossed paths in southern Illinois. I was absolutely blown away. Everyone needs to try and see a total eclipse at least once in their lives. Absolutely stunning.

THANK YOU for communicating your passion about seeing a total eclipse in person. I would probably not have made the 3 hour drive to see it, and would be less of a person for it, had you not shared this video and the SET app. Despite the uncertainty due to cloud cover in Texas, we went and it was absolutely stunning!!!! We caught a break in the clouds and had an unobstructed view of the eclipse (although that is an obstructed view of sorts…).
Thanks to this I took time off work to travel and got to witness it in person. That was phenomenal.

Right, I'm always mindful of what videos I click on, because the topics I choose are the rabbit hole that YT is going to take me down. If I'm really that tempted by anything questionable, I jump into a burner profile to view it.

In 2017 I Traveled 5 hours south to Bowling Green, KY sat and watched the eclipse, in awe, and 25 mins later I was back on the road for another 5 hours to make my shift at work that night. Lucky to be in the path of totality where I live today, but I will be driving to my Fathers because his house is DIRECTLY in the center of the totality path. Can’t wait.
you were also lucky to make it back in the same time it took to get there. I don't remember for sure but what usually would be a 6 hour drive was easily over 12 hours for me.

The speed in Oregon on return was crawl, stop, wait, repeat.
@@saywhat8966the best part was in central oregon there was a 4 way blinking red light. Traffic backed up for miles, and no one even coming the other directions! Easily they should have had a cop directing traffic in that one horse not even a town... Fail.

My wife, daughter, grandson and I drove up to Burlington, Vermont from just south of Boston on Monday and returned that night. In site of almost 19 hours of driven there and back Ivan happily report that watching the eclipse was one of the most amazing experiences of my life!
I am also happy to report that my 7 year old grandson was a minor celebrity on Tuesday at school when he reported to his class of the event being the only one that saw and experienced the totality first hand.

I watched Mr. Rogers a lot when I was little, and sometimes I go dig up an episode to watch online simply to experience that simple happiness again. You are different with your channel, giving me different feelings, BUT! The excitement, the learning, the laughter and happiness your videos provide is something I really love. The 2017 eclipse was close by for me and I was able to find a secluded spot near my home town dead center in totality. This one is much deeper but involves some serious driving. Worth it. My whole family are going!

In 2017 I lived less than 30 miles from the path of totality. I didn't understand that a short distance means all the difference in the world between the experience you will get with seeing totality and just a partial eclipse. In 2024 we had a family get together at a great spot within the path of totality. I gladly drove 150 miles, not wanting to miss it again. I knew it was going to be great, but I didn't expect the emotional reaction. There are lots of wonders in the world, but I can't think of any that give you the same overwhelming emotion as when you see a total eclipse. I had my video camera rolling as we were awaiting totality and the reaction I had when I first took off my glasses was genuine. Watching that clip brings back all of the emotions.
I drove 300 Kilometers today to experience totality for quite likely the only time in my life. I live in Nova Scotia Canada. I now intend to live long enough to see the total eclipse that will pass the shadow over the entirety of my home province. Like the entire thing. In 2079. I was born in 1995. I'll be 84, if I make it. It was quite likely the most awe inspiring thing I've ever seen in my life. I was in totality for a whopping 1 minute 10 seconds. Best of my life. I got to experiment with shadows and camera stuff it was amazing, and absolutely perspective shifting. I felt, as michael said, tiny, absolutely miniscule. I have my own incredible (to me) shots of totality that I plan to imortalize forever. And to make it better I blew off work to bring my wife, daughter and 2 year old son and spent it with them.
I used to be in the boat of "the moon gets in the way of the sun big deal, I can and have seen pictures of it", but in 2017 since the path of totality was very close by, I made a point to go out and see it...
It is so much more than the moon getting in the way of the sun. If you're able to travel and see it, you will not regret it. No photo or video can truly replace being there.
yeah, I've never seen a picture of the suns corona that matches what you actually see, it's indescribable and awe inspiring, so much so I'm travelling all the way across the country to see it again! Weather is the only thing I'm concerned about, I've built up massive amounts of good karma so hopefully it comes back to me finally!

This event was freaking spectacular!! The weird feelings right before totality and after was so new and something that doesn't happen too often. Totality was beautiful, something that is engraved in my memory now. The weirdest thing was seeing the "shadow bands" right before and after. I was so happy that everything worked out telescope and camera wise, and I was able to see it with my own eyes too. It's an unbelievable experience that I encourage you to see in your lifetime!!
Thank you Destin. This video and the app Dr Telepin created, made our eclipse experience SO special. You convinced us to go. We drove 16 hour to get there. We drove 16 hours to go home. And it was worth EVERY MINUTE!! Thank you Destin!! We will never forget this INCREDIBLE experience! I can hardly tell people about it without starting to cry again. You convinced me to drag my family to see something that we will never forget and I think changed our lives. My kids thought I was crazy. Now they keep hugging me and thanking me for taking them.

@@CaptainBuzzBeeI wish words could describe what we experienced. Those who haven't will probably never understand until they experience it for themselves. It's somehow comforting to read these comments from others who went through a lot to see it and feel the same way that we do. I would do it again in a heartbeat and be excited for the opportunity! I would drive twice as far if I had to.
2024/04/08: I went to see it in North America.... AND... it was the MOST AMAZING THING I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE so far!!

I tried to watch so many videos and pictures... I can guarantee you that NONE OF THEM can barely do any justice to it! Meaning that you see a completely different thing on person.

I live a little northwest of Austin TX and I have the day scheduled off of work for this! I'm taking my family about an hour west to be in the dead center if the "Totality" zone and we are bringing blankets and chairs and a pop up table and are going to spend about an hour in a field right off a main road for this.
My anticipation is bewildering to my family, but I have no doubt they will understand when the day comes.
My work fortunately cancelled for eclipse day because we're right in the path of totality and they're anticipating major traffic jams.

We drove about 100 miles and watched from out on a lake. It was EVERYTHING!!!
I just wanted to comment to tell you that your video was so helpful in allowing us to maximize the eclipse experience. The app did not work for me (off on timing) but the ancillary stuff like your color changing was bang on. We were near Cleveland and did not see any of the snakes, too bad. The eclipse itself was amazing, and I was so happy that our 6 hour drive from Toronto to Cleveland was so worthwhile (everything near Toronto was clouded over) with perfect weather and no clouds for the event. The "spring peepers" frogs were 80 decibels the night before, and were silent during the day until the eclipse where they piped up again, amazing. I did the trip solely so that my 13 and 15 year old daughters could experience it. Leading up to it they were bored. During the event they were amazed. What more can you ask for?
During the event all I could think of was Neil deGrasse Tyson's partial answer to the Universe's Most Amazing Fact:
“So when I look up at the night sky and I know that yes, we are part of this Universe, we are in this Universe, but perhaps more important than both of those facts, is that the Universe is in us. When I reflect on that fact I look up - many people feel small because they’re small and the Universe is big - but I feel big because my atoms came from those stars.”

This video clued me into the eclipse so I went 7 hours up to Maine and camped in a tent in the cold to witness it. Was totally worth it! Even better I ran into someone that had seen this video and happened to bring some of the shadow experiments I had no time to set up to the same place I was watching. Destin, I want to thank you for this!
I remember the one in 2017 and it brought tears to my eyes. I wasnt expecting the birds to stop chirping. It was kinda eery, just wild.

The best part of the 2024 Solar Eclipse is that my house is directly on the center of the path. I’m talking 4 minutes, 23 seconds of the total eclipse while sitting in my front/back yard. I don’t have to go anywhere. I don’t have to worry about parking, keeping drinks cold/hot, bathrooms, anything.
The thing I do have to worry about is the fact that the population in this area is expected to double in the days before and after. So, I gotta make sure I don’t need anything like groceries or fuel and then there’s people parking, blocking our cars and keeping us from getting out in case of an emergency.
I’ve got friends/family having a big party about 20 miles away from the center. They’re going to experience 3 minutes and 55 seconds. They’re ‘out in the sticks’ and they have a sizeable chunk of land to host. My question about attending that party is getting there and getting back. What’s traffic going to be like.
I’m probably going to stay home with my wife and son and do experiments with our cats. See how they react.
Then there’s the weather…
On a side note, during the last eclipse people insisted on playing Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart” as background music. NO WAY! If you’re going to play background music play “Brain Damage/Eclipse” by Pink Floyd. Come on! The last phrase in the song goes “But the sun is eclipsed by the moon” That’s background music for an eclipse..

I'm a cynical atheist. I understand the science of the event. In 2017 experiencing the total eclipse could only be described as a religious/spiritual/magical experience. If you can, you should experience it. It's worth your time. It's worth sacrifice. Everybody is different but I find it hard to imagine someone could be completely unmoved. (I know I sound like a cultist.)
That sounds like perfect atheist behavior. Meaning you feel like you actually have to observe something to believe in it. That’s exact opposite of believers and faith. So when you saw it is when you actually feel like it exists. Again it’s just the exact opposite of what people of faith proclaim.

Thank you SO MUCH!!! I drove 6 hours NJ to NY to see it and was the only person who knew to look for shadow bands after the totality. It was INTENSE, nothing like any video I've seen of it. Like flashing, rippling undulating rows of snakes! I started freaking out and the people around me saw it too, were thanking me because everyone was still looking up, but i KNEW THANKS TO YOU! Experience of a lifetime!!!! 🙏

We have been driving for four days down Route 66 (2000 mi. CA to Illinois) to get to this 2024 eclipse! We are excited and after watching your video I am heading out to get a poster board for shadow snakes, as well as, a bright shirt.

I'm 64 yo and, for me, you have been carrying the torch that Mr. Rogers lite back then. That is priceless to me ( and I'm sure others too). Thank You So Much! This was another video that has provided knowledge and wonder that will be remembered and shared all my days. Thank you.
I'm in Carbondale, IL today. I documented barometric pressure, temperature, humidity, UV index, wind speeds, all that fun stuff for 3 hours, totality being in the middle. It was so brief, per usual, I wasn't able to remember to record the animals or insects. There's an enormous amount of data available to cross reference. Heck, I had dinner with 40 or so strangers, scientists from all over the world and the consensus is that we'll take weeks to collaborate and make accurate charts. A couple from Oregon wanted to study tidal changes but it was so far inland that they came here just to observe the darkness. It was fun, I used some of the things in this video for the neighborhood kids and even though I'm a physicist and engineer, I had to "science" to see if second contact would melt the eclipse glasses through a telescope - it did. I made some cool refractory findings I may have to apply in laser physics, but you do not want to use glasses on telescopes until totality, but then it's safe without if you're in absolute totality. What a cool experience! Fleeting, but now I'm going out to find morel mushrooms, so cool timing too.
People need to know to bring supplies with them please! The people in the towns that are going to have to deal with this are already being warned to buy groceries ahead of time and are expecting their populations to double and triple overnight! Remember to PLEASE respect the people that live in the towns and cities that everyone is piling into to watch this. Yes, this is absolutely worth travelling to see! It's incredible! Just please remember to buy supplies before you go. Buy a couple cases of water to take with you. Buy some non-perishable food and a way to warm it. Yes, enjoy the local dining, but remember that the places you are travelling to aren't equipped for what is coming their way with this eclipse. You can't expect them to spend extra to overstock their stores when you can take stuff with you to ease their burden a bit.
It looks like some of the Canadian tourist destinations, which were hit hard by government policies over the last few years, will be happy to see business booming again!

Your comment is 95%+ irrelevant to Canada. Regardless, my original comment still stands. People need to think about the communities that WILL be overrun by people that think like the two of you. If you can't bring your own supplies, then you probably shouldn't leave your house.

I just need to comment on this because before watching this video, I didn't really care much. After watching it, I was like "hey since I'm in the path, might as well take pictures and see it" thinking it wasn't going to be super amazing, just kinda fun. I got more excited as time got closer, this morning there were clouds which made me sad as I thought that might mean eclipse viewing wouldn't be great but they mostly disappeared and when it hit totality... OMG that was amazing and if it wasn't for this video, I probably would have not really care. So thank you for this amazing experience! so many people missed this and I hope more people get the chance to see it!
I just got back to my desk from watching the total solar eclipse. I was geeking out over things I saw that were mentioned in this video. I was sending photos to my wife with captions like "the right side of my shadow is sharp and the left side is blurry" and "I can see the snakes". This video helped enhance my experience. THANK YOU!!!

@@RandoManFPVI'd say yes. Ft. Smith is right on the edge of totality. If you head east on I-40 just an hour and a half you'll be in prime totality. We're just north of Morrilton, almost on the dead-center of totality.

Watched the total solar eclipse here in Fredericton with my kids yesterday (wife watched it at work too). It was life changing. Seriously. I know that sounds like hyperbole but it wasn't. It was like day turned to night *incredibly* fast, the animals on our farm lost their minds, and seeing totality was breathtaking. The stars, the rapid temperature drop, the 360 degrees of "sunset" ... it was unlike anything else i'd ever experienced.
I'm glad myself and my family got to see this.
I drove 5 hours to see it, took 12.5 hours to get back. TOTALLY worth it. Thanks for the push!

Thank you Destin. Because of this video I was able to appreciate the convective clouds and why they formed and dissipated in the Ouachitas hills near the Petit Jean River under the trees-lots of evaporation to condense! We saw STRONG shadow bands and I just happened to grab my rainbow parasol for shade but quickly realized it would be perfect to demonstrate Purkinje effect. Baily’s beads, plasma plumes, diamond ring, we pretty much got it all in AR! I was with my grandson, son, and DIL who is a HS science teacher-we nerded out like nobody’s nerded before!
Traveled from Estonia to see this. Initial plan was around Austin, TX area. But due to weather models, drove to Hot Springs, Arkansas instead. Sky was clear. Incredible!

It. Was. Awesome. I can't stress this enough. There are legitimately no words to describe the impact of seeing a total solar eclipse. I wish there was a way that I could go back in time and convince some of my loved ones to come see it, just so we could continue to share that moment.

I'm 26 and in the last year I worked hard because I wanted to travel from Bologna (Italy) to Durango (Mexico), for the eclipse and to hang around for a week.. That was, by far, the most exciting and emotional experience of my life. Can't wait for the next eclipse

I drove 332 miles with my girlfriend of 5 years to be as close to the center of totality as possible! The experience was incredible. I was looking forward to the eclipse but now I'm even more excited to get the full experience out of it.
