here is a tip that will help save 99% of your pikmen: KEEP TRACK OF THEM, like lets say you just came out of a ferocious fight and the enemy sent your pikmen everywhere, well search the entire area and make sure they are all there before leaving the area so you wont lose or worry about them later ( I know this will not help at all cause of how old this is I just wanted this out there)
Zack you don't have to worry about being away from the onion or putting your pikmin back in the onion before sunset. The captains are always safe and the pikmin are safe as long as they're within the circle around the onion OR with one of the captains :)
You do know that as long as the pikmin are with you or any of the other leaders the pikmin will be fine. You don't HAVE to be inside the circle of the onion to save them. Just as long as you're with them and round them up, the pikmin will survive.

You only take what you need, be it perhaps up to 10 of each type. If you see something that needs more of a specific type, you go back and retrieve them. That way, all the enemies killed and Pikmin food collected go toward planting new seeds, and eventually, instead of returning the next day and calling your crew out, you can instead create your initial crew for the day out of those new Pikmin by returning and plucking them the next day (not relevant when visiting a new area) and supplement them with additional ones from the Onion. And yes, I'm thinking I might get this game. Two years later. Too bad it's out of print. Yay for full retail price digital copies. LOL

just like some of zacks let's plays; incredibly enjoyable just slow down you have several chances at fruit in that stage that would have allowed you to repeat it for missed things, focus on separating your pikmin for tasks and then have your guys focus on goals. once the main objective has been completed THEN do the side things. I"m sorry it was painful watching you play through this episode, other then that awesome job~ *thumbs up*

This is how i think of it, the humans and animals all died, and then new life started (pikmin, onions, and all of the enemy creatures) , then they all got powers based on their environment, for example, rock pikimin evolved to break hard things because of armored mawdads and glass walls.
