- This is Nikki's method of cooking a Holiday Ham in a Rival Roaster Oven. There are some bits of this method that can vary, based on the size of your ham, but if you follow this method you should get a tasty moist and juicy ham that is excellent for your Christmas, Thanksgiving or Easter dinners. We used Smithfield Ham for this video but other quality hams should work as well.
I've watched this video for the last 4yrs. I always come back to it for reference. Thank you.
Every year I come back and look at this video to help me out with my ham. Lol thank you so much!! ❤️❤️❤️
Me too!
Just wanted you to know, we cooked our 14.5 turkey in our Rival turkey roaster just like you did, and like you, it was eaten down to the bone. There were 7 of us. I was just watching the ham video, which we want to use at Christmas. Nikki, I really enjoy watching you and Tony Lee. Thanks again.
Nothing makes me happier than to read comments like this one Sylvia. Thank you so very much, and blessings to your family!
Please can you do a video on your Rival with a diferent ham maybe like a non pre cook one..😊 thanks
First time using an electric roaster because my oven stopped working! This video helped so much. Saved my Christmas dinner lol
Awesome to know it helped Holli Ann. Merry Christmas!
I did my ham using this method today and it was a huge hit. Only change I made, out of necessity, was that I used fruit cocktail juice instead of pineapple juice, and lowered the cook time slightly (my ham was a tad smaller). Everyone raved over how moist the ham was.😄
Thanks for the video, and Merry Christmas to you and yours.🎄🎅🤶
I love how you state "we are going to pour 1/2 of this.....NAW....lets just pour all of it in there". A girl after my own heart! Looks yummy! Great Video. Thanks for sharing!
Love your comment Bertha.
Getting close to Christmas now, so its time for me again to check out your video. Last years ham was a big success thanks to your perfect instructions.
I used your turkey instructions and our turkey came out wonderful I received extra cudo's in the mom and wife department. I will be using your way with my ham again and I am so excited to do so. Thank you for sharing...
I use a one dollar drip pan from Dollar Tree. Then on top of that, I use a 2 inch tall baking rack. I put in the water also on the bottom. Everything comes out great in my 16 quart electric roaster. Biscuits, meats, veges, everything comes out browned. I also use a casserole dish instead of the rack for breads, cakes, veges, it's just easier. Wrapping a ham in foil is great, that is a great tip. I had a nice ham from Aldi's and did what she did and it did come out perfect.
Following this to a T. Thank you so much, my first time cooking Thanksgiving dinner for my mom and dad,...Happy Thanksgiving'
Hello- I followed your tutorial Thanksgiving morning and cook a 12lb Smithfield Spiral Ham in my Hamilton Beach roaster oven, and it taste fantastic. Juicy and tender! I used my own homemade glaze. I will be doing the same thing on Christmas. Thanks for sharing
Sure do appreciate your comment my friend. I'll pass this message along to Nikonya. She loves to hear about cooking successes of our viewers. Happy holidays! TLG
Thank you for doing this video. I am making a spiral cut ham for the first time because I usually do a turkey but everyone wants ham so I am going to use my roaster oven thank you looks delicious
Thank you for posting this! We followed your instructions and got great compliments on our ham
First time cooking a ham in my roaster! Thanks for making me feel more at ease😊
Thank you for the tips- it saved our holiday! Merry Christmas!
I’ve watched this video the last 3 Christmas’s, just to make sure I cook my ham right.. turns out great each time! Lol Thank you! 😁
Thanks for watching Nicole. Glad the ham turns out good for you. Hope you all have had a merry Christmas.
Thank you for this video I have never made a ham before but followed your video for Thanksgiving which is today in Canada it's cooking now smells so good
Hola! I am glad i found you. I got the same Rival ware i dont have a working oven so i looked for some one to use an electric ware. I got to say my turkey came out great ! The recipe was just easy no extra crap just simple as i wanted. Just salt and paper and butter 😊 then i saw you cooked a ham on a Rival and that got you a New subscriber..😊@ Thank you keep on showing how to cook the easy way 😊
Great video…. Love seeing your pug make an appearance 💕
325° whole time works great. If you use counter top oven and never open until ready to glaze no need for bag or tin foil. I put mine in a reg oven roasting pan in the counter top oven so I can lift out and heat and reduce juices for extra glaze\gravy to serve. But spiral fully cooked 2hours is enough time. But I enjoyed the video, watching them wing it as they went. That ham is a little more expensive and it comes w complete instructions so I appreciate the showing and explanations of what came with it for anyone buying their cheaper unsliced ham, you can still follow this recipe just add 1\2 cup of honey to the glaze recipe.
an electric roaster oven is very similar to a crock pot/slow cooker so moisture retention isn't a problem. the heating elements are around the sides, no heat from the bottom so if you are dry roasting something make sure it doesn't touch the sides or it will burn. the upside to a roaster oven is that if you ever need to cook for a big crowd of people, it's a giant crock pot/slow cooker when you set the thermostat to just below 200 degrees F. so you can slow cook a huge pot of chili or beans or stew or ???. really a great appliance. you can bake bread or cakes or brownies or cookies in it as well.
Great video, can't wait to do one for us, thank you for sharing !!
Well, I am late to the game, but I have a ham to cook and a broken oven. I really don't want to use my crockpot or Instant Pot, so was looking for roaster oven cooking. And there you were! Perfect timing!
Your ham turned out beautifully and you gave very clear instructions. I loved the part about adding the glaze ... I would do the same thing! 😂
New subscriber planning on watching many more delightful, instructional videos.
Thank you so much for subscribing Dannie. I'll share your kind comment with my wife Nikki!
I really appreciate this video. I ruined last 2 hans until I saw how u did this. I just overcooked top by not covering. The only thing I am doing different is glaze. I am doing honey pineapple juice and brown sugar. I am leaving uncovered so it will crisp a little. I will let you know how it comes out. Thank u guys again!!! A much juicier ham I am sure!!! I couldn't figure out why I kept ruining them in my rival cooker. You guys rock!!!
New to your channel. The lid fits on the handles in the groove I have the same on and love it. That looks delish. Not my recipe but I most times make stock in my roaster. I do it on 100 degrees for 3 days. It is a game changer when you cook stock that long. I will never do 8 - 10 or 12 hrs stock again. Stay safe & take care of you all. Thanks for sharing eh :))
Thanks for sharing this video. I just bought a new roaster at Sam's and my family wants a spiral sliced ham, so this helped me plan. I really appreciate the help, because I have not cooked turkeys or hams that much in my life, but things change. Thanks again!
Very well done. I enjoyed your presentation, and the directions seem easy to follow. Can't wait to try it tomorrow! Merry Christmas!
Thank you for sharing this video with us
Thank yall both for sharing this. YES I will have to do the foil. HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO BOTH! from LAKEHILLS TX.

So helpful thank you was sweet and to the point
Thank you for sharing! I am going to use this to roast our ham tomorrow.
Hi, I just bought my first oster oven roaster and I can wait to use it. Thinking of what other goodies I can do with it. Thanks for the tutorials. 😊
My oven broke down one year and I even baked pies in it
It’s not Christmas anymore but my family wanted a ham and I have that toaster so I’m giving these instructions a whirl in a few hours! If you see this message before then, would you say 3hrs cooking time is what I’m aiming for?
i have a 4lb ham and i have the roaster oven do i set it at 275 first like u did then 350 afterward please let me know thanks
Thank you! This helps so much!
Lol, thanks for the fast reply, but I meant the other one, the Oster that was used for the roasted root vegetables and green peas. I'm on Amazon now trying to find it. Thanks for your help
Oh - Yes, Nikki bought that one at Wal-Mart. Not sure what the model is. I'd have to check when I get home.
Tony Lee Glenn
Thank you so much. Those veggies looked appetizing and healthy
Looks great , Thx for sharing
I love my roaster over I use it all time
Could you put the glaze on at the very beginning when you wrap the ham to let them cook through?
Can you cook two hams side by side in the roaster. Just purchased an Oster 18 quart roaster oven. Planning to use it for Christmas Eve
P Rose wondering the same thing. Upvoting this comment in hopes of an answer
@@tankgirlb I am going to try it. I can't see why not, just a bit afraid because it is my first time using a roaster & having 18 guests tonight for Christmas Ever. I have always used my oven, I am sure it will turn out fine the roaster is definitely large enough. I will try to remember to reply back and let you know how it turns out.
@@prose9859 Here we are ALL sitting in front of our computers just patiently waiting for you to let us know as to whether or not we can cook two hams side by side in the roaster oven!!! PLEASE let us know, as I am sitting here looking at ham jerky in my roaster oven as my ham has been roasting on 275 degrees for OVER A YEAR now!!! 😂😂😂🍖🍖🍖👨🏻🌾👨🏻🌾👨🏻🌾👨🏻🍳👨🏻🍳👨🏻🍳
So sorry to keep you waiting for so long I actually can't remember now. It was the one and only time I used my roaster. It was a successful evening so I'm thinking everything worked out well.
How long does it normally take to heat one of these 14 qt things???? I’m just wondering if the new one I have isn’t working properly bc this one takes for ever!!!
Thanks for the great idea
Hi, thanks for the video. What is the exact name of the Oster cooker? Does Walmart carry it
The one we used here was a Rival from 2014. It was a gift, but I'm pretty sure it did come from Wal-Mart.
yes
Yes they do
I love my roaster!
that's super tasty
I'm doing a ham and a turkey in two different cookers
That's awesome. Your house is going to smell amazing! Hope the family enjoys the dinner. Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you!
How much water total did you put in the bottom of the roaster oven?
I don’t have 275 on my oster roaster. It’s 250 and then defrost. What do I do?
Another good glaze is coke cola and brown sugar
What about putting it in oven bag. On rack. Water in the bottom. In the roaster for 1 hrs at 350? It's Wed morning 7am . I'm trying it. I'll report back. Thanks guys. My attempt at ham in roaster. God bless
wouldn't an oven bag have worked easier and better than foil? great vid thou, happy Thanksgiving too!;)
James Deasy
The bag will stick to the hot sides of the roaster.
Can you do a video doing a pork roast in roaster? Thanks!
+Jasmine Logue I asked Nikki and she said that's a great idea. We'll do one this weekend. Thanks for the suggestion Jasmine. Thanks for watching our videos too! Tony
It works great for brisket too
How long total did you end up cooking it for?
I have two bone in hickory smoked hams that fit in my Rival Roaster oven. Do you think it would be ok for me to cook both hams at once, or should I cook them separately??
Sylvia Gonzalez-Woods
You can most likely do both if it's not too crowded. Just use a meat thermometer (the wire kind inserted in the meat as it cooks)
I'm not sure how yours cooked so much faster than mine.
How big is your roaster?
What if you want to add the pineapple & cherries with toothpicks ?
That's what I do
So love to watch your wife cook
Yep - me too! And I get to eat it - how awesome is that?
I wish that she would do these videos more. I cook her lasagna often and everyone loves it and requests it. She has such good ideas.
She just read your message and asked if there is something you'd like to see her cook.
@@tonyleeglenn what are yalls favorite food's to cook? I really dont have a certain meal idea for her to cook, I would enjoy any idea. She is just genuine and friendly and her food is really good. Thanks
amazing
Do you have written instructions to your videos?
"I'm not big into fancy". ha ha! Me neither!!! Fancy usually doesn't taste as good and isn't as enjoyable to eat!
what if it is still frozen, fully cooked spiral
you should be able to defrost in microwave.
