Great video. It does look good but... Coming from a multi generational family of butchers, I gotta call two things, offering a professional tip. 1) Though actual room temp may not be needed, let it have some time (20 min. +) out of the fridge so the meat fibers can normalize or the roast may "shock" & not cook evenly. Also, the fibers need to relax out of the heat, covered, for about 20 min. or it will lose its juices. It may be tender at first cut but future servings will be unnecessarily tougher. Also, the internal temp will rise a few more degrees while resting so pull it a couple degrees early. As far as prepping, if you haven't tried completely encasing the roast with damp kosher salt about 1/2" thick, the results are stellar and the salt cracks away. The meat doesn't get "salty" at all, save maybe the outer 1/8th inch. The consistency and temp are dead even through out. The salt acts like an outer shell, or skin, allowing the cut to be done the same from edge to center.
Great advice, I am by no means a professional cook so I appreciate helpful tips like yours! I can live with 20 mins or so out of the fridge that doesn't sound too scary to me, lol. Love the salt idea too. I will have to try that. Again thanks for watching and thanks for the advice! :)
I have the same there thermometer and love it. It can either stand on counter or use magnet. I have cooked turkey in a roaster for years. This will be my first attempt at prime rib. The roaster also makes it easy when traveling to another house for the holidays.
Thank you Candice for bringing roaster recipes. Love how entertaining you make it also. Electric roasters are amazing and so versatile. Please keep the roaster recipes coming!!

Just came across your page yesterday because I just got me a Rival 18 qt Roaster Oven. I just literally start watching your videos (awesome by the way). Gave me ideas for sure. Can you try to make Lasagna in your Roaster Oven? New subscriber too.
I'm going to try this method tomorrow for Christmas. Looks amazing I can't wait! ***REVIEW**** I used this method for Christmas dinner. I got it ready last night. I didn't have kosher salt so I used pickling salt . Yes, pickling salt. I looked it up p and it is interchangeable with kosher. Anywho, used a lot of garlic putting it in small holes I cut in the meat, dry rub too. Put it in the roaster as you instructed and holy cow. It was soooooo good! Thank you so much. You really helped me out this Christmas feast. 🎄🧑🎄♥️ Merry Christmas.
Thanks for your video. I'm going to make this for Christmas this week. On another topic, could you please do a video about how to roast vegetables (not with meat, but all by themselves) in the Electric Roaster? I do this regularly in my regular oven, but it takes so much time and prevents use of my oven for other things. If I could offload the roasting of assorted veggies to the Roaster Oven, that would make cooking everything else in my regular oven so much easier.
"Who knows when that was cleaned?...I don't!" ROFL! I like rosemary with the prime rib too. Looks sooo good! Those meat thermometers are the best. I used it the other day not to kill us when the stuffed pork was done on the outside but the almond stuffing was practically frozen on the inside. When the kiddo does an end of video happy dance, it's always a good sign.
A standing rib roast has the chime bone intact so the roast can stand on the end for the cooking process like a rack of lamb. A rib roast can be boneless or bone in and has the chime bone removed.
Thanks for the video! My gas range decided to bite the big one and quit a day before my dinner! Fortunately, I had one of these roaster ovens!!! Thank you!!!
I cooked our Thanksgiving turkey per your instructions and IT WAS PERFECT! I looked all over for beef roast videos with the roaster oven and nothing until today! Thank you! I think I’m switching up my Christmas menu! Love your videos and I would love more electric roaster recipes too! Merry Christmas!
Thank you so much for watching! I'm glad your turkey was awesome! I'll be sure to add more roaster videos in the near future. Merry Christmas to you too!
I have the 16 quart, smaller and perfect for the counter. I use a 2 inch high baking rack and put foil drip pans under it and the fat just comes off but the meat is moist. Made a 7 lb pork roast, so much fat came off, it was high so it browned up on the top and sides. You can brown great in a roaster oven if you elevate.
On the garlic just put some holes in the roast with a knife blade. Then put whole peeled garlic into the holes. Very the depth of the holes. Fresh is best.
Using an elevated rack, I made a large casserole dish of rice; made cake; made mac-n-cheese; pizza. I like using racks and getting chicken breasts browned. There is nothing you can't make in a roaster oven. And, I like the fact I can get fats out and have moist foods.
Thanks for the great roaster videos. Oster should put you on the payroll since they don't have (or I can't find) videos on how to cook in their roasters. We'll be following your turkey instructions 5 days from now. I have a suggestion on the prime rib, though (I'll be trying this on Christmas): do it like you do the turkey - start at 450 (or maybe 425) to get a good sear on the meat. Maybe even sear in cast iron and move to the roaster. Then finish at 325.
Thank You So much...my wife cooks very good but she is admiring my roasting...thanks to you.. Is it possible to make Porchetta in a roaster? It would be nice if you can show us how to..
Your taste tester reminded me of me as a kid. When I liked the taste of my food, I bobbed, bounced, hummed, wiggled my feet, etc. Anyway, while researching these roaster ovens I came across your videos. Do you suggest a particular brand or size? I have also seen these smoker ovens. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.
LOL :) That one loves food, I think it makes her so happy she has to move around lol. My biggest advice for a roaster oven, would be one that has a removable pan. That makes it much easier to clean! Mine does not come out, and I'm pretty sure I have the cheapest roaster oven available. But, having said that it still works great! I love it :) I'm going to have to check in to a smoker oven. Sounds like it would make delicious things! Thanks for watching!!!
Thank you for replying. I decided on the 22 qt Oster. It has a removable pan. And it was $48.49 on Amazon. Oster also sells the 16qt Smoker Roaster. That one is a little expensive to me ($80). Thanks for your videos & helping me decide. All the best!
Candace, could you make northern bean soup in the roaster? I read the roaster is also a slow cooker. Can't find any information on this though. I need step by step! Thanks, Candace.
That's a great idea! I've never done soup in the roaster. I'm going to have to experiment. It might be a while before the video. But, I'm assuming it's probably similar to a crockpot recipe. If you try it and it works let me know. I will work on it for the future.
