My mother used a roaster when I was growing up. I think I still have it! It was probably made in the 60s! I used it as a newlywed and it worked great in the early 80s. The skin didnt brown much but the turkey was so tender.
And now I just need your stuffing recipe!! My mom made a delicious sausage, raisins, slivered almonds bread stuffing one. I miss the stuffed turkey days!
Thank you for doing this video couple years ago I purchased a roaster oven because our oven broke . my husband‘s grandmother used to use her roaster oven for her Thanksgiving turkey all the time . The turkey always came out golden brown . I used roaster oven for the first time, our turkey was pale, read the correct temperature for the turkey to be done but the turkey was completely pale. We were all disappointed luckily my husband had a blowtorch and he browned the turkey ever since then I never used it. I’ll give it a try again . my kitchen is being remodeled so I cannot use my oven. Your video was very helpful. Thank you again. happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
We have been cooking our bird(s) in the Weber kettle for 50+ years, some times running two grills. My parents, had a large family. We had a kitchen with a normal oven/stove and a second oven. And we still had cook the turkey and mostly pork loin roast outside.
Those big roasters were a 1960s~1970s thing. It seemed to have died out due to the fact that they are huge & hard to store. However, they're really great for buffet serving or pot luck supper functions. I've never owned one, but I'm familiar with using them. If I could afford one, I'd surely buy it.
Try stuffing with a couple of sliced pears and pour 3/4 of a bottle of champagne in and on the bird....cover and roast. Im trying the compoud butter with this. Thanks for the idea!! Love you muchly! ❤
Hi A.!!! I'm going to give your recipe a try for sure. I have a roaster like that ...I got it for Christmas 🎄 and haven't tried it yet. Thanks for this recipe. Great Video!!!...🦋
Mama! Thank you for posting this! I made your crockpot Turkey 2 years in a row now and its always a hit but I MUSTTT try this method next! I love this because then I can use the oven for all my delicious sides! I think I want to try this, this year! Thank you! :)
I use my roaster, old as the hills! Thx for a no nonsense, tasty recipe for roasting a Turkey. I've done mine so simply for years now & like visiting more than tied up in my kitchen cooking! Kudos to you! Happy Turkey Day!! 🩷💯🎃🦃
thank you for this! I think this might be what I need to do in a couple weeks for Thanksgiving! Please consider doing some electric roaster recipe videos every now and then - I have seen some videos here any there of big batch freezer meals using the electric roaster!! Always inspires me to have ready to go meal in the freezer to save time/energy.
I love my electric roaster. I use it for lots of things, including turkey. You can bake casseroles, make soups or chili for large crowds. It’s also great for making a large pasta bake. I have a very large family and we regularly feed 20-40 people.
wow....a 12 pound turkey! they are hard to find sometimes...usually 15 are readily available on up to 20. I'd love to find a 10-12 lb turkey this year.

I lucked out with this one. The smallest I find now are about 14 pounds.
Heeeey!!! Looks gooood! 😋 my fav is your pineapple ham in the slow cooker!! This one looks like it going to make my holiday menu too! Thank you for always keeping us prepared! ❤
I love using my roaster when cooking for big crowds, but I have yet cooked a turkey. I may try it this year. Thanks Mama, wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving.😉🍗❤
If you want an extra juicy, fall off the bone tender turkey, cook it breast side down. I've done it and it works like a charm. The meat literally fell off the bone.
You're on it Simply Mama! I'm not familiar with these roasters, checking Costco and other stores for them. Buen provecho, 👍 and hope you guys had a great Dia de Muertos.😊🦃
That roaster oven looks like a great idea though too expensive and no room to store. I still use the old roaster ( which my Mom had a few I inherited) in the oven method. I use the turkey bag...my sisters all do now too...no basting as in the old days...been making them also since the dawn of time...😊
Hey 👋 hulló beautiful family simply mama thanks you again for another lovely great delicious 🤤tender juicy 🦃fantastic 😋 recipes everytime 💯 🎉🍛☝️♥️gdb family safe all 😂
I don't have a roaster oven and don't have the room to buy ANOTHER appliance. But I do have an extra large crock pot. Do you think that would do the same job?
Yum! When did roaster ovens get so expensive?! Stores used to practically give them away (which is why I have one). I guess folks caught on to how functional they are/or a nostalgia factor and price went up. If you have the space, grab one from a secondhand store or yard sale since they're practically indestructible.
Do you cook it upside down for the entire time? I’ve seen some people start it at 450-500 upside down for the first 30-45 mins and then turn right side up for the remainder and drop the temp to 325ish
There's no substitute for an oven roasted turkey unless it is wood smoked. More flavorful, moist, and golden brown. I will try the seasoned butter prep, though.
I AM VERY SORRY , BUT I HAVE TO HAVE A REALLY GOOD GRAVY WITH MY TURKEY !! MY MOTHER AND GRANDMA WOULD STUFF THE TURKEY WITH THE GIZARDS AND SAUSAGE WITH THE BREAD THEY WOULD USE THE OLD FASHIONED STEEL MEAT GRINDER THAT U COULD USE FOR TOMATOES AND THINGS LIKE THAT .... PLEASE SHOW US THAT KIND OF WAY !!!!! WOULD DEFINITELY APPRECIATE THAT !!!!! THANKS AGAIN !!!👍👍🖐✌👈👉👌🏁
Similar to how my grandma did turkey except in her oven. She hated oven bags and my mom loved them so they went rounds on it. I don’t remember who won the battle. 😂
Thanks 👍, just in time for Thanksgiving 🙏
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. And everyone on this site.
I have been making turkeys since the dawn of time and yours looks delicious! 🙂 I love your show!
I appreciate that.😊 Thanks for watching! 🙏🏼

I used two roasters for thanksgiving turkey and pumpkin pies. Thyme! Sage?
And now I just need your stuffing recipe!! My mom made a delicious sausage, raisins, slivered almonds bread stuffing one. I miss the stuffed turkey days!
I also make my turkey in a roaster oven. It is delicious and so tender.
I have seen several methods. You were the only one so far with a visibly juicy turkey. Still searching recipes. Thank you
This looks amazing , thanks for all the cooking tips❤

Champagne for flavor?
Yes and it's kind of like it brines while it's roasting. It smells like it at first then all the other aromas come together! The gravy is wonderful
@maricelisfigueroa856 occasionally I use spumante for a sweeter option and it is magical! 😋
I love your generosity with the spices. It must taste amazing!😋
That looks like an amazing turkey! I’m going to try this method this year. I tried the oven bag of yours, last year and it was delicious!

Mama, I wish you included where you purchased your roaster oven. I’ve never seen one!
This one I purchased from Target or Walmart 2 or 3 years ago.
I got mine from Walmart years ago. It's amazing. Love it.
I just bought one at Amazon!

What is the brand name of your electric roaster oven please? And what size roaster would i need to buy to roast a 20 pound turkey? Please help!
Would it be the same cooking temps for an oven? I don’t have a roaster.
If you want a tender and juicy turkey always and I mean always roast your turkey upside down! Your welcome!

Will you do a turkey breast slow cooker recipe??
I cook mine in a roaster, too. Wal Mart sells them.
❤❤❤❤❤
Is a roaster oven the same as a Slow cooker 🤔 i apologize if that's a Dumb question
No it's not. It kind of mimics when you put meat in a roaster pan with a lid and cook in an oven. 😊👍
I AM VERY SORRY , BUT I HAVE TO HAVE A REALLY GOOD GRAVY WITH MY TURKEY !!
